Creative director and co-owner at The Astronauts Adrian Chmielarz is, defined by statements he made regarding the PS4 being more powerful the Xbox One. While he later stated that it was the games that defined the consoles, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter creator still has some interesting views on how to approach next gen development.

Before anyone brings up a parity clause. A parity clause has to do with both games having the same features, it has nothing to do with graphics. This is a common mistake people makes about the parity clause that MS has with publishers.

It has everything to do with graphics buddy. That's the entire reason for the "parity clause" to begin with. MS has the money to create a powerful machine but no they choose to chase the Nintendo Wii crowd the casual gamer instead of the hardcore gamers that built up the Xbox brand to begin with. I honestly can't believe you're trying to defend them having the "parity clause" to begin with but at least know WTF you're talking about which you clearly do not. MS and their business practices hurt the industry way more than anything they improve and that's really not up for debate.

Developers will never spend more time and money on making a weaker console version better. Developers are on timed schedules from publishers. IT doesn't make financial sense To make a weaker console version better or the same. If it takes time or money to do so.

Well owning an expensive rig isn't for everyone, but good on ya to getting the game anyway it looks like it's gonna be awesome! :)

And UGH! I wish the 780ti would've been suitable for what I needed cause god are those specs sexy, as is the price. But unfortunately the 780ti's as of the time I bought my cards and at the moment of me writing this cannot be soft modded to be "verified" hardware when running Maya where I do all my renders. :(

During the Genesis and SNES days multi platform games maxed out each respective platform to the max and the results were fantastic leaving gamers the best games and every one was so happy. Each platform strenths highlighted gamers had their money's worth.
Developers having the freedom to squeeze out every drop of juice they can from each hardware made it seem eaxh console's weakness were no big deal. Genesis had so few colors available but games like Sonic the Hedghog turned that to its advantage by superb color combination. Genesis had no Mode 7 but Treasure was able toake sprites look 3D in Gunstar Heroes. Genesis had a modest Yamaha sound chip compared to the SNES's Sony sound chip but Thunder Force 3 & Streets of Rage made it sound good or even better to the more powerful console.

Now we have parity politics from MS that crippled an entire generarion of games.

Why does Microsoft command such respect and what seams like fear from 3rd parties? They come last with the original Xbox, they came last with the 360 and they are in last place atm with the xbone so why do publishers pussy foot around trying to please Microsoft?

Just for a quick example Sony has sold 442 million HW units in 19 years which is about 23 million HW sales per year. Microsoft has sold about 108 million HW sales in 14 years which is 7.71 million sales per year so why do publishers constantly do everything Microsoft command of them? I could understand if they had 600 million sales or somthing like Apple products for example, or even maga sales of Nintendo over the last 30 years.

It just seams to me that Microsoft think they're more important than they actually are in the console business. All I can think of is Microsoft must be paying big bucks for this favoritism from publishers, sites, media and so on because they haven't done anything spectacular when you look at total sales compared to others.

Dual Titans, yay! Oh no DX12 on the horizon, I'll never get the chance to max out my rig! :(. Look there is always something bigger, better, and shinier. I'm not disappointed with my Ford Fusion because Lambos exist. I'm happy with a reliable vehicle that does what it's supposed to do. That is why I like my PS4, I put a PS4 game in, and it works. I don't have to tweak the settings and I didn't pay $3000 for it just to be obsolete tomorrow.

Idea - N4G adds a way for people to verify what consoles they have and it displays that under their avatar. Why? Because it would help stop so much of this constant fanboy BS that dominates the content here.

X1 is powerful enough to at least stay comparable to the PS4, especially if they just drop the resolution, which for many isnt a problem. I own both, and my purchases are based on where my friends are playing, because really when I care about resolution and frame rate, I buy on my PC. Consoles are for exclusives and friends who cant afford PCs, for me at least. Regardless, any of the current gen consoles are a good choice, I dont know what the fighting is about
