Final Fantasy VI, story wise it easily outclasses any other Final Fantasy.

FFVI had a great story and it's my favorite classic sprite based FF. My top three would be the PSOne main series games (FF VII, VIII and IX). But for favorite I have to go with FFVIII. It has my favorite plot from all FF games.

FF6

this is the one that needs to be remade

abzdine3682d ago (Edited 3682d ago )

glad to see some oldschool real FF fans.
FF6 is also my favorite.

Favorite game in a series is very subjective. Nostalgia plays a big role in it but we can all for sure salute Squaresoft for making us dream and remember all those amazing episodes.

I remember buying it once more for PS1 with the FFX demo disc included.
amazing times!!

hkgamer3682d ago

hope that is not a typo.

VIII is also my favourite FF.

Omegasyde3682d ago

i loved VIII's story and ending but that draw system... I missed a summon because I did not draw from a boss! #%#@%@#%@#%@#%@.

FFVI was great - but it hasn't aged well (in my opnion). I would love a 3d version of that game.

Speaking of which I'd really love a 3d remake of Phantasy Star 1-4 and anything Shining Force.

MWH3682d ago (Edited 3682d ago )

VIII was one of the worst FF games, i invested 200+ hours in the game; proof of omega, all the cards and even shocobo world. I maxed everything and then some.

some of the worst character development, boring cast, uninteresting story, out of blue final boss with dumb and dumber twist
Broken gameplay, the absorb and juction system pretty much fucked up the balance later rebdering the use of magic and summons irrelevant.

And, Eden, the worst scrambled rainbow depiction ever visualized.

Another vote for VI here, the sheer scope of the game alongside 20 (was it 20 lol, I can't remember) playable characters is something no other FF has managed since.

@NewMonday

There's a recent iOS/Android release with re-designed sprites.

goldwyncq3682d ago

There wasn't really anything special about VI's story IMO, at least until halfway through after the world gets destroyed. Before then it was just the generic Empire vs Rebels plot.

Magicite3682d ago (Edited 3682d ago )

I absolutely loved FF9. It did everything so right and managed to capture my attention for whole summer.

But basically every FF from 4 to 12 was great.

Final Fantasy 8 and 9 for me. I also liked the battle system of ff 12 apart from its story.

hkgamer3682d ago

battle systm was miles ahead of everything released so far. I've spent 2-300+ hrs glitching/tricking system into giving me rare iem. trying to do a x99 item for every weapon/item

Hellsvacancy3682d ago

FF8, 9 and 10 for me

I wasn't able to finish 9, the disc was too scratched when I had the PS1 version, never went back to it, always meant to

BattleN3681d ago

U need to finish that gem! I love the Tettra master card game

TheLyonKing3682d ago

its all personal preference depending on how you experienced the game at the time of your first play through for me its 8, I sent hours with my friend playing it before I bought the game myself.

caseh3682d ago (Edited 3682d ago )

That sounds about right.

Most who say FF7 or anything higher probably haven't played any of the pre-PSX. Nothing wrong with that, its just personal experience.

Final Fantasy I Pixel Remaster – Step Back in Time

Gary Green said: It’s interesting to revisit the roots of your favorite franchises to see first-hand what’s changed and what’s stuck around all these years, though perhaps ‘visit’ would be more accurate than ‘revisit’ since apparently, Europe wasn’t worthy of the original six Final Fantasy games the first time around. By the time we started getting ports of these iconic games, we’d already been through the PSOne JRPG golden age. So we’d already seen the best of what Final Fantasy had to offer, while these predecessors looked outdated, unrefined, and (dare I say it) ugly. We aren’t bitter about the delayed releases, honest…

I'd buy it for the Switch but a NA copy runs for $800.
