999: The Novel Coming to iOS Next Week

If there's one thing we need more of in our lives, it's 999. Not only is the original game superb, but its follow up Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward proved to be one of the best visual novels/portable games of this generation. Aksys is keeping the 999 express chugging along as they've today announced the release date of 999: The Novel

I never played the original game, so I can't wait to experience it in glorious HD on my iPad Air.

Good. Here's hoping revenue from this game goes to making the third game.

ValKilmer3692d ago

Do you think $4.99 is too steep?

MightyNoX3692d ago

Don't know, I don't dabble in IOS games so I can't say for sure. I just want this getting more exposure.

Kurisu3692d ago (Edited 3692d ago )

I think it's a good price.

I bought 999 a week ago for DS. I paid £17 for it, and I'm enjoying it, and think it's money well spent. To get it for $4.99 is a bargain! And I look forward to playing its follow up, Virtues Last Reward.

I've never played one of these "visual novels" before, but I've become interested in them lately with the likes of Danganronpa and such getting good reviews.

EDIT: Did I read this wrong? Is this just a novel, not the game, with puzzles etc?

KonsoruMasuta3692d ago (Edited 3692d ago )

No, it worth it. It's a quality and worth the money.

@Kurisu
Yes, it's just the novel part. As I read some time ago, they said that the puzzle parts didn't translate well to smartphones or something like that.

999: The Novel (iOS) - Review on Popzara

If you wanted to get into 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors upon its initial release but didn't have the time or energy, 999: The Novel is a formidable alternative that you'll want to look into. It's fast-paced, colorful, and chock-full of inventive writing - and with that being such a scarcity in games these days, you'll want to eat that up whenever you can find it.

Pretty happy about this as I missed the DS version.

Direct iTunes link if anyone wants it = http://georiot.co/999TheNov... (apparently it is slowly coming online around the world)

This game (and its sequel) are pretty mind-blowing. If you like visual novels at all and really mind-bending, thought-provoking storylines, don't pass this up. I wonder how the novel version handles the whole "multiple endings" thing, though...

iosgamer3686d ago

Six endings right? Good question; I'll let you know when I get there.

SlappingOysters3685d ago

These choose your own adventure games are starting to come thick and fast.

I recommend the Fighting Fantasy ones.
