That's an avarage of $100 per backer. The pressure must be huge on the devs to deliver an awesome game. I don't even want to imagine the shitstorm if this doesn't turn out great.

In the end, it won't matter what the public's reaction to the game is, as long as it satisfies the backers, they'll be fine.

Lol that's my only concern for this game as well. I doubt my current rig will be able to run this on high settings, and I'll be lucky if I can get a smooth framerate on medium. I plan on upgrading soon, but this game looks damn good...

Wow. I don't think I ever implied I was better than anyone. The dollar amount in the headline just made me think about various things that could use more funding, and the homeless is an obvious one. Watching a high budget bad movie makes me think the same thing. Money that could have been spent elsewhere. I don't agree that me buying and using a product is the same as funding a product that will eventually be sold back to me.

Funny, all these publishers complain that piracy is killing their console ports and these guys havent even given us a game and they have broken 40,000,000. Just goes to show, if you make what the people want they will come, and if you try to milk them you will get nothing but resistance the whole time.

Piracy, especially on pc, is a valid concern. The quality of a game has nothing to do with it

actually most devs that release their games on steam make their money back within a month.
yes there is Piracy and yes its alot easier to download and use. but there is still alot of money to be made.
Piracy will always be there, only way to combat it is to provide a better service than the pirates do.

But it wasn't always as prominent as it is now

Ok, heres the problem with what you that argument.

The amount of money spent on games on PC in a year surpasses the amount of money spent on games on all 3 console platforms combined. Its a fact, you can look it up. So its not that pc gamers dont want to be paid, that's pretty obvious.

Piracy isnt causing companies to lose money, since piracy is related to income levels (countries with low income have higher piracy rates and vice versa, this can also be researched). If a person with no money pirates a game, its not a lost sale since they could not have bought it in the first place.

+ people with low cash at a time may buy the game at a later day when they can pay for it.

like right now im strapped down so i cant get South Park and Titanfall.... already played though the story of south park and i will buy it next week when my paycheck drops in :D

alot of people do it this aswell.
with games now have really bad ports and have DLC and stores in game like dead space i really understand why we start to pirate game to check for such things at times. (atleast till we get a vid from TB)

definitely a concern but probably not as big of an issue as it was before, probably thanks to digital distribution.

Problem is that a lot of people think they deserve to play a game even if they cannot afford it or probably just don't want to spend money on it.

If people don't want to pay for a product then just don't play it or borrow it off someone that has it or maybe wait until it gets cheaper.

There's a bunch of movies that I want to watch, but I just don't want to waste money going to cinema. So I just wait until it comes out on DVD/BR or maybe even wait until it comes on TV/streaming services.

That still doesn't mean it's ok to pirate the game. If you don't like what's being offered to you, don't buy the game. Simple as that.
