Info on Next Call of Duty Emerge from Destination PlayStation: Graphics, Physics, Code Name and More

This week Sony Computer Entertainment held the behind-closed-doors Destination PlayStation event in Scottsdale, Arizona, where publishers showcased their upcoming line-up to representative of retailers.

The event is said to include titles that haven't even been shown to the press, and one of them was the next Call of Duty by Sledgehammer games scheduled for release this fall.

i dont get why people get all hot and bothered that people play cod. it may be getting stale, and it may seem like they are just taking advantage (why wouldnt they), but in the end, no other fps can offer the same type of rush, at least not with the same precise action.

I cannot play BF (and i do play BF) and pass the controller around with my friends while we drink some beers. CoD is fun for that. Its just an easy game to grab have some fun. just because other devs/publishers would rather try to copy them, rather than innovate on their own, is no ones fault.

besides, I know i for one can afford to get cod each year and still "splurge" and get other games. anyone saying cod is hurting the industry is very wrong. other franchises can and will flourish, but it is funny how it has taken the actual CoD creator to step up and develop something that can rival it within the online shooter space.

go play what you like, and leave everyone else alone. i say this not as a "cod fanboy", rather as someone who is tired of hearing it from you people all day long.

Because of CoD's success other shooters don't stand a chance, which has ruined what used to be a great genre.
I don't hate CoD, I hate it's success. Ten years ago shooters were completely different, the only one that WASN'T tactical was Call of Duty lol. How times have changed.

I think the problem is not that people enjoy the game, it is that so many people play it and publishers believe that there is some secret formula to get that number of gamers for any genre. Which is not possible. They just see the numbers and think that there are that many gamers not buying their gaqme so there must be something wrong with their game and not just that you have a different demographic of people. It is like the NHL saying "we need to get people to like hockey as much as they love baseball. " it is not going to happen people get into the sport because their family friends are into it. it is the same with COD. People started playing it because hey saw their friends playing it and have no real interest in anything else. Not all of them, but a good number. And games like final fantasy are now being dumbed down to appeal to those people. The worst part is that publishers are not learning, continuing to appeal to people who will never care.

The second part is that activision gouges their customers with DLC and no innovation.

The anger towards the people that still support COD is kind of justified in my book. I mean they are basically pioneers in the horrible business of pre-release DLC, and stupidly expensive DLC. Luckily gamers are showing their disapproval, but some developers and publishers still try to do this.

I love the Treyarch versions, I don't like the iw versions too much. it's not bad, it just needs some updates. fix graphics and connection problems.

The sales of the game would indicate many do. Some say well it did not sell as well as the last one did. I say most game companies would kill for half the sales of a bad selling Call of Duty Game.

I think most people care because the next Call of Duty for all we know could actually revive the series and make it awesome again and for all we know with Sledgehammer in the mix that could happen. Plus with three studios comes three years for a Call of Duty to be worked on instead of two. So wouldn't YOU care if this year's COD came out with awesome graphics, innovative or atleast better gameplay, and new elements to the old formula. Now if this will happen I don't know, but a guy has to be hopeful.

I don't hate COD, but I absolutely loathe its community. Just for fun, go find a stream of someone playing COD Ghosts right now. I bet you any money the player will meet most (if not all) of the following criteria:

* Talks really slow.
* Has a limited vocabulary.
* Sounds like he just hit puberty/woke up.
* Calls everyone who kills him a bad player.
* Calls everyone he kills a bad player.
* Thinks everything is gay.
* Puts his K/D on a pedestal.
* Makes fun of everyone's K/D.

The female players aren't as bad. They just make it a point to let you know they're a girl.

You know what's funny though? Pretty much every cod has looked better than the last. The problem is is so slight that it's not really noticeable if you buy it every year but compare black ops 2 to mw2.

Please make it so you can see your feet. It's an immersion killer when my character doesn't cast a shadow or has legs.

Killzone Shadow Fall does it right. I can see my shadow, I have feet and I feel like I have presence in the world.

You know, I've yet to find a fps that solves these problems perfectly.

In killzone, you see your feet and shadow, but the camera position makes it seem like your eyes are in your stomach.

In halo, you see you feet, and the camera is situated in your head, but it looks like your gun is always up an eye level, even when it should be at your hip.

I've found that the best way to stay immersed is to try not to be so picky...but it's very tough to do...

In Killzone when you have the gun out, your character is hunched over with the gun aimed, which is why you feel shorter. You can notice this difference in the single player campaign during the sequences where you follow someone with your weapon in a relaxed state. You'll get taller because he stands upright.

It's odd, but I think they got it about as close to correct as they could.

Also, Killzone's field of view isn't very wide. When you look in real life you see basically everything below your neck, but the camera is zoomed in more in Killzone so you see from the knees down instead of your whole body.

In Outlast, the field of view is really wide, so when you look down you basically see your entire body.

Hate to tell you this buddy, but Ghosts was quick ported to PC then ported again to PS4/XB1 with very little effort or vice versa. My advice is don't buy Infinity Ward brand of CoD again. The good team they had work at Respawn now or elsewhere. Only team I know cares about PC cod is Treyarch at the moment. Sledgehammer might, but don't know yet.

Hopefully this will lead to better graphics, gameplay, and story each iteration. Kinda a bummer though that I have to wait till 2015 for treyarch, prefer their games. Maybe sledgehammer will do a good job and add bots to the split screen.

Treyarch and infintyward were releasing their versions every 2 years staggered so theres a release every year. Now with sledgehammer in the mix they'll have a three year production time for each company. Im really hoping it'll make a difference in the game. I've been disappointed with IW game since mw3(worst cod ever) and ghosts is garbage imo. Treyarchs games are the only ones I even enjoy anymore.

i'm actually the opposite. I like IW versions better. Treyarchs try to cater too much to one gamestyle anymore, where IWs maps have areas for all playstyles. Also, treyarchs Cods all have super bad hit detection from my experience. don't get me wrong, i play their versions to death, just like the others, but those are just examples of why i favor the one over the other.

It never quite got the balance right, having large kill streak rewards promoted camping and with the weak maps since cod4 it became an experience dictated by the people you was playing with. Some days I loved it, same days I loathed it.

I feel the same way about Call of Duty. The killstreak rewards need to be more simple and balanced like CoD4. An easy-to-get killstreak that gives a Halo style radar detection in a small radius can really help break camping.

There needs to be more motivation to have players run around the map but not have anything considered overpowered so everyone uses it. I know all CoDs have that weapon that rises above the rest, so there needs to be balance in every aspect. Like you, it's something I hate and sometimes I love. After growing tired of the franchise, played all of them, I want them to do something fresh. It's funny how the veterans have plenty of ideas to freshen CoD up and make it better but the developers still stick to the same old tired formula so let's hope it's different with this new generation.

No one gets "left behind" with CoD, lol. There are still lots of people playing ALL of the previous CoD's that got released, so you can still find games.

Lol @ "new guns", the guns are pretty much all the same from game to game, just given new skins and new names. The maps are about the only things that are really "new", and that gets invalidated by the fact that most of them are always horribly designed and unbalanced.

People are getting "excited" to drop $60 on a friggin' expansion pack, is what they're doing. Somehow failing to realize that problems that have existed since Cod4, such as spotty hit-reg, terrible netcode, etc. have never been properly addressed.

Yeah there are "variations", but most of them are purely superficial. At the end of the day, it's just a mediocre pickup 'n' play arcade shooter that anyone can excel at because the skill ceiling is so low, a far cry from the early days of the series.

Try that crap with pc gamers and see what happens. Console chumps that keep "moving on" to the next title are exactly the reason why activision can afford to milk you guys for everything you've got.

steam stats show that cod is pretty damn unpopular with pc gamers, and this is huge part of the reason why pc gamers dont play cod (the yearly installments), (in addition to the fact that its for casuals only) . In fact one of the biggest insults you could tell to someone on CS or any other respectable shooter is to go play cod.

Refreshing maps and new guns? Lol. The reason why you *NEED* refreshing maps and new guns is because they are unoriginal and bland to begin with. so you keep moving from cod to cod trying to get something new.

Maps and guns that are well designed stand the test of time. CS is perfect example once again; maps like de_dust and de_dust2 have been played for more than 10 years now.

Yeah. 10 years. Thats because the map design doesnt suck balls and you dont have to buy a new game yearly to compensate for that.

Look...their are specific things that make cod, cod. That instant respawn, the quick map loading, speed of movement and plenty of game variant modes.
Add zombies or aliens, sp that's way crazy but fun...

Cod just needs new engine and fresh weapons, perk system refresh, maps could be expanded in quantity from day 1L , on disc.

Ive platted bf4. Its better game by a landslide. ...and im also far more bored. That's solely to do with how mics are designed to be used. That and the lack of proper party system.

I'd be happy with a new engine. The perk system is fine. Field orders are a nice replacement to care package. Kill streaks are not too OP. Put out a couple more smaller maps on release. Ghosts is the most balanced game in years.

People got what they wanted with ghosts then complained. Larger maps with more than 3 lanes. Less lag. Less OP kill streaks. Less quick scoping. More styles than SMG run n gun.

Personally I like each game having its own flavor between BO2 and Ghosts.

I dont play much online but I do prefer Battlefield over COD.

COD is fun cause its easy to play and get into and thats why its so successful with the more casual gamer, no reason to hate on it.

As others here have suggested I wish that the multiplayer would go back to the more balanced and simple gameplay/killstreaks of COD 4.

In fact I bought a new copy of COD Modern Warfare 4 for 360 again just cause I love the campaign and I still have World at War on PS3 for the same reason.

Many walks of life love the COD series....The problem is that many that buy them, would prefer to keep buying every iteration & all the overpriced dlc, instead of buying a great AAA+ new IP, & thus many great developers have gone the way of Elvis, thanks to stupid, ignorant, habitual consumers...
And the problem with COD's evolution is that the game has spawned into a NON-skill based shooter, & rather a online game that allows it's most devoted players to use cheats to bully new players & less familiar gamers that do not LIVE on this series & this series only. So, these COD lifers, have the home field advantage, so they know the layout of all maps, every nook & cranny, which is THE ONLY advantage they should have, but IW & Treyarch also handed them all these stupid arse perks, that ensure a huge demograph have no chance. The fact is, COD needs to re-invent itself, by going back to the basics & the things that make online shooters fun for everyone...games like Unreal, Quake, COD4, Timesplitters & the like, are the shizit.....otherwise ONLY the same people that are already into COD will come back for more, & even they will start dropping off, as shown with sales that depict that the sales are already suffering for the franchise.

Why it is wrong to enjoy COD:

So developers/publishers who make COD earn millions for least effort. They use same textures recolour rotates maps etc. They do not do much of a work yet they earn millions.

Developers who try to be innovate end up failing. Example is Valkyria Chronicles, which is one of the best SRPG ever and a work of art. The game failed sales wise.

With this trend developers will stop making efforts or making real games for less effort more money games. We are already seeing this trend when Ken Levine disbands Irrational Games, to create more "simple games" which will earn him more money for less effort.

Games like COD, Madden and most F2P/Mobile games are cancer to the gaming industry that people need to stop supporting, else in the near future the gaming industry will be nothing more then mini games and copy pasta games.
