Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition on PS4 is 1080p/30fps

"Following its PS4 announcement yesterday (and inclusion in the North American/European Instant Game Collections), some new information about Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition has been revealed, including that Housemarque didn’t handle the PS4 port, but rather Sony XDev Europe and Climax Studios. What this news means is that the other PS4 project Housemarque was working on (Resogun was the first) is still unannounced.

It should be 60fps. This is kinda disappointing. I'm gonna assume this is due to being rushed for release, cause even the Xbox One should be able to do 1080p/60fps for this type of game easily.

Wrong. I am a PS4 guy and I get disappointed with 30fps. I'd rather they drop to 900p and hit 60fps. That goes for any and all games, regardless of genre.

Well, fortunately they wouldn't have to drop this game to 900p in order to achieve 60fps.

Unfortunately they would have to pretty much rebuild the game from scratch since it's not designed to run at twice it's original speed.

If you really expect every PS3 port to run at 60fps on PS4 you're either deluded or sorely ignorant about how framerate works and how it impacts gameplay.

If they can only hit 30fps, it would take considerably more than just a drop to 900p to double that to 60, more than most devs are willing to sacrifice...30 fps on a game like this doesnt affect gameplay, and doesnt hurt my eyes, I dont mind it

Let me allow you all into a little secret. 1080p720p resolution means absolutely nothing. Buy and play the games you want to plat on the console of your preference. I have absolutely no idea what resolusion Mario 3D world and DKCTF are in but they are too good to not give a shit

That's extremely ignorant, 60fps is VERY important in gaming. As Linus from Linus tech tips on YouTube said, only average gamers can't notice the diff between 60fps and 120fps, he and people used to it can CLEARLY see the difference, i know i can.

And the same goes from 30fps to 60fps.

People who don't really notice it at first rarely game much, or haven't played a game enough to notice the difference and feel the difference in the control response.

It doesn't take a programmer or developer to know that 1080P/60FPS is better, and totally doable for this game. If Killzone can push it in MP then this game could.

Even the quote says to achieve it they would have had to have done an overhaul of the entire game due to the engine, meaning it was a time/cost problem, not a hardware problem.

You're right it does not... I just think it's so funny that everyone gets so hung up on 1080p/60. Many many developers optimize their games accordingly, they know their product better than the recipient gamer.
Besides, 1080/60 is only as effective as your HD TV will allow, meaning if it's smaller than a 40 incher, it won't matter.

Go get a 1080p computer monitor and change it to 720p. Take note on how you CAN see the differences, if you can't I'd recommend you go see an optometrist because you need glasses.

Only ones whinging about anything about this game, are people who were dumb enough to own a console that renders them unable to play it. I'm just glad it's 1080p....the rest is pure BS, as I don't remember EVER thinking, whilst playing the original on PS3, that the frame rate was a problem.... As many have stated, for starters the game WASN"T even developed by HM, so we will be getting ANOTHER exclusive from those geniuses for our PS4's that will be built (by HM) from the ground up, & it will be 1080p & 60fps, just like the awesome (best launch game for any of the 3 new consoles) Resogun.

Fact is, HM are anything BUT lazy developers....they are indies for starters, so they can't afford to be lazy, as they need to work tirelessly in every facet, to sell there game, over the next 100 wannabe big things.
As I said, people whinging & whining about this game being 30fps, are quite obviously fanboys, or if they do have a PS4, then they have UNREALISTIC expectations about EVERY game being 1080p & 60fps..... Lets take a look at the XBOne, & how EVERY game is unable to be optimized to this standard...EVEN THERE PREMIERE, OVERHYPED, NEXT BIG THING in Titancall Of Duty 10: Battle of the mechs, is substandard, & that is a game built EXCLUSIVELY for ONLY that console (yes pc as well, but XBOne is the only console getting it), & these guys can't get the game running at the new standard. And Tomb Raider, just like DN is a last gen game, that XBOne couldn't run fully optimized at the new console standard...& the list goes on.
At least PS4's hardware is capable, obviously developers that are giving the game out free on PSN aren't going to fly to the moon & back, when the risk of loss is so huge....Look how many developers are going out of business or having to lay mass staff off, just because of one bad decision, or because they made the mistake of making a brilliant game, but nobody bought it, & the list of issues goes on....Give them a break...HM are one of the gun developers going around today, & there games harken back to a time where pure, unadulterated, blissful, FUN was the driving factor for games & gamers. As I said, Resogun BURIES EVERY other PS4 & XBOne exclusive, & it is a sad little indie title, knocking out heavyweights like Capcom, Guerilla, etc, etc. Just having Outlast, Resogun, Warframe, Warthunder & DC Universe on my PS4 totally obliterates the competition....I'm not even interested in what XBOne has to offer, so my 360 will sit unaccompanied by MS's new hardware this gen. And all these games were GIVEN to me at no extra charge than the online fee....Pretty incredible. With Killzone:SF, NFS, AC, Lego Marvel, BF4, COD:G & Knack in my bought collection, I have plenty of great games to play, & with Infamous:SS joining the fray soon, & Driveclub also, not to mention a handful more d/l titles, my lineup of games will be so diverse & awesome compared to the competition....

Aww. :( It's not a big deal and I can see why it's like this if all the animations have been made and gameplay set up around 30fps fixed..

But this is definitely the sort of game that'd benefit from 60fps.

Luckily It's also the sort of game that tech like motionflow or other frame interpolators work really well on too though so I guess we can ramp that up on (many of our) TVs and get extreeeeme smoothness.

I am getting tired of people saying 60fps is only suitable for gametypes X, Y & Z. That simply is not true. 60fps makes EVERY game better.
