Nvidia has recently released its latest low-end GPU based on the Maxwell architecture and quite surprising, the GeForce 750Ti is able to push graphics and performance similar to those of both PS4 and Xbox One.

heres a pc that is less than 500$ and will run the game better then the ps4 and do everything else a pc will do.

didn't put KB/M because you more then likely have those. same with the the monitor. just hook it up to the tv you would use for the ps4. simple. and you can use a controller on most new PC games of you wish.

I wouldn't classify this card that better than the PS4. The frame rate drops to 45fps.

I'm pretty sure Dice dropped the resolution on purpose to make sure you would get a steady 60fps. (otherwise, you'd see dips in fps like this card does)

In a game mostly multi-player, fps is better than resolution.

I wouldn't waste money on that card, you'd be force to upgrade to get that 60. I'd go for something more powerful.

the site doesn't say what setting they used in the test for battlefield. that makes a big difference. like you don't need the aa, that save a lot of power, or you don't need high shadows when they look the same as medium. you say you need a more powerful card to get 60 frames, i say just turn down the setting a little and BAM 60 frames.

i had the titanfall beta playing at 40+ frames a second at 720p on a old Core 2 duo 4400 and a 550ti(a pretty crappy old system that i built for fun out of old parts i had laying around) on low and medium settings. hell i had crysis 3 running at low and medium setting at 30ish fps at 720p on that pc.

the point is you don't need to have EVERY setting turned up on pc to get a game playable. you have more options, if you want eye candy, you turn up the setting and take the FPS hit, BUT if you want the Frames, you turn down a couple of settings and BAM more fps. options. one of the best things about PC.

all that said, the second i see a good Halo, i Mmean a GOOD halo game, non of this halo 4 and reach garbage, on the XO, i will buy a xbox one.

Either way, bundled with the remaining components it's still more expensive than a console although also far more versatile. But buying an entry level GPU is never a good idea. It'll last perhaps 12 months before you need to upgrade. A console on the other hand will see you through 5-7 years. Swings and roundabouts.

I stand by what I said, the consoles beat out an equivalently priced Steambox at the minute. Not necessarily in raw specs, but have you seen how far they managed to push 1/2 gig of ram on the last gen? Naive to think they won't manage to push these consoles beyond what you associate with the raw specs. Over time you'll see games on the consoles that trump what a 7870 can do.

Give it 2 or 3 years though and a low end Steambox will be pushing way ahead.

That is an OEM copy, it can only be installed once, if the install facks up, you are screwed, if you change any major hardware like the CPU or Mobo, you are screwed. Also after a year or 2 the CD-key that it comes with will automatically glitch out and start telling you it is non-genuine, with no way to fix it. Retail copies of Win 7 Ultimate are still selling in some places for $499. A full copy of Mac OSX in comparison is around $35.

World of Warcraft - By far the most profitable game in history (Grossing upwards of $15 Billion).

League of Legends - Played by more people than any other game with a peak concurrent player number of over 5Million

DoTA 2 - Has a daily peak player number of 600-700k

There are entire genres that you can't really get on console.. from RTS games like starcraft and civilization to MMO's like WoW, Guildwars and EVE Online... simulators like football manager, EuroTruck.

PC makes online gaming on Console look like complete dogshit. Games like Counterstrike, Planetside, Team Fortress, DayZ, Rust, Path of Exile, HearthStone, Tribes etc..

And its not even that they are exclusives (You can get some of these games on console, like Team Fortress) but its how they are support post release... if a game isn't huge on console, its left to rot... while on PC they are constantly updated... Team Fortress is like a completely different game from the version on xbox.

And to top it all off... not only is there a far greater selection of games on PC... the games that are available on a both a given console and PC... will look and perform so much better on PC.

I mean... go ahead... enjoy Titanfall running at sub 1080p with frame rate drops as low as 45 on xbox one....

I enjoy some of the console exclusives, its why i have an xbox360 and ps3, I will eventually get a next gen console too.... but lets not kid ourselves here and pretend these platforms are in anyway comparable to a decent PC.. both in terms of content or power.

Maybe I have seen different benchmarks but the R7 265 (supposed equivalent of PS4) craps all over this card at the same price. If you build a gaming rig that is the better choice however this card is so low wattage it could be thrown into an already bought PC.

Honestly everyone's argument is very immature, I think each persoon buys their respected platforms according to what you'd like to play, and how you'd like to play it.

I for one cannot play fps games or even MMO games on console. (ofc that goes for RTS game as well) At the same time I <3 my ps4 because I have a lot of friends that use ps4 and frankly it's easy to navigate and just play the game. (especially online is sometimes much easier to join a friend.)

That being said I do spend more time on my pc (gaming latptop since I'm never home) and my Vita. Those are the two devices I can't do without! I use to have a 3Ds as well but I sold it because I didn't like it's online/no trophies (although I do miss my Fire emblem and Zelda:().

On topic, Ofc the 750 ti will be better, it's a next gen low end gpu. While the ps4/Xbox one use "last gen" hardware when compared...you can never be on top for long! Don't foget though, that the ps4/Xbox One are also calculated to consume less power while still performing admirably! (actually this card I think is expected at half the TDP of the PS4 (the ps4 was test at around 137 watts while gaming)

Still, the card has proven to have huge overclock potential but doing so will increase its very low TDP of just 60W.
Benchmarks indicate its performance is largely better than its predecessor's but Radeon HD 7850 and GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost Edition still offer better performance, due to their high memory bandwidth transfer rates.
The most competitive aspect of this card is its very low TDP. You won't find anywhere in the market so powerful that doesn't require any power connectors.
Please note that this card does not support SLI.

You are willing to throw away all of the PCs advantages (and exclusives) because of some exclusives you want to play on PS4. The PS3's exotic Cell processor is going to be much harder to emulate. It will take some time. But the PS4 is built with pretty standard PC hardware and will be much more straight forward to emulate.

There is no working Emulator bcause the ps3 has a very specific architecture that requires a lot of power to emulate. There already is an emulator that can boot homebrew on, which was predicted to boot and run retail games in 2-3 years.

The PS4/Xbox One run near CPU specs. It shouldn't be too hard to mimic ona regular pc with the proper release of API and software compatibility. The only thing that gives the PS4 an for being very hard to properly emulate would be 2 fold, 1) It's OctoCore CPU (including a secondary I believe for background work) and 2) 8 GDDR5 Ram used for both video and primary sources. Although we might see DDR4 pose a slight pace forward towards the GDDR5 speed, we might not see an emulator for 3-5 years if there is no hack.

Either way it's a shame that infamous isn't out on pc (frankly everyone should experience that game), but I'm glad it's exclusive because usually exclusive means quality:)

The OG Xbox still don't have a working emulator for PC and its using A intel CPU and nvidia GPU.
Hell the OG Xbox is closer to PC than ps4/xone and yet here we are over A decade later no OG Xbox emulation.

I believe that is due to the lack of interest especially since most of it's games made it to pc as ports. Being Discontinued early might have played a vital role as well.

I honestly think that's the reason for the in existent emulator, I mean we have a ps2 emulator and even a Wii one which have more complex architecture.

Also let's not forget that eventually everything becomes abandon ware if there is no interest. Look at Dreamcast for Android, it simply took interest to make it a workable emulator and it runs on old hardware as well:)

The 750ti would be considered a mid range card, not low end. I don't know anyone who considers $150 low end. Bf4 wasn't optimized that well for the ps4 or Xbox one, and 1080p doesn't mean its running it better. Theres other factors like shadows, AA, texture detail, etc that need to be taken into account, and I bet this article doesn't do that. In top of this, a pc with a $150 gpu would end up costing 600-800 for the whole thing. So there's a lot that isn't taken into account with this.

Not many GPUs runs without extra power connector like GTX 750 cards does. GTX 750 Ti is just a cheap way to get even old and limited PCs to okeyish next-gen console level gaming PCs. I don't see the problem.

Nice entry level card. Sure, Intel NUC with Broadwell can do a lot as well if they manage to get 80% improvement as said. Iris Pro 5200 [1] can do quite nicely already.

I have a high end gaming PC alongside a 360, wii, ps3, ps4, and wiiu. I have countless of other consoles as well.

This is what I always find funny. When a PC gamer goes around claiming that his PC or that you can build a PC that outperforms consoles. Prodcues better graphics, higher FPS rates, resolutions. Has a larger selection of games and a bunch of other shit they "the pc gamers" are all a bunch of elitist pompus assholes

but when playslaves, xbots, nintendrones claim their consoles produce the best graphics, highest resolutions, higher FPS, even to the point where they claim their consoles are on par with high end gaming PC's it OK and they're not elitist assholes. Yes, the custom HD7870 with 2 CUs disabled and some other architectural differences in the PS4 has so far proven to be more powerful than a HD7850 but less powerful than a full on, "off the shelf" HD7870, so I agree that the PS4's GPU is more powerful at least theoretically than the 750ti. It should be between the 7850 and 7870. Then again there are still some unanswered questions in regards to presence and function of some things on the APU die as well as the buses used because there really is no analogue for the system as a whole. The PS4 is a great deal more complicated than an average PC and even quad channel DDR3 can't approach the bandwidth of the memory used in the PS4. This coming from a PC enthusiast that used to own a liquid cooled, highly over clocked system with 2x 6990s in quadfire w/ a GTX 460 for hybrid physx, matched to an i7 980x @ 4.8ghz with HT enabled. Us PC guys keep spec talking like we know all about the PS4 when our specialty has always been in off the shelf parts, which the PS4 is not.

Actually no, chipworks themselves confirmed that its a custom desktop Pitcairn core. A full 20 CU core with 2 cores disabled. According to the cinemablend chart, an HD 7870 beats a GTX590 so no it isn't a crappy GPU.

Also according to a synthetic benchmark loaded completely on CPU (thought to be running at 2ghz), it isn't that far off from an i7. The benchmark shows the PS4 CPU achieving 14 MB/s while the i7 achieves 26 MB/s, so the PS4 is a smidge over half as powerful as a full desktop i7. That's not crappy considering that Tegra 4 which is an ARM A15 only scores 3.5 MB/s.

Also bear in mind that the test results are based on the performance of one CPU, which the PS4 has 3 of. Two quad-core Jaguar CPUs and one Arm MPCore for background and specialized system function. The PS4 does not have to compensate for slow system memory/ I/O bandwidth by using a more powerful higher clocked CPU. PC architecture has mostly used brute force to compensate for system overhead, slow system buses, and less memory bandwidth, but consoles have always incorporated bare metal programming and coding finesse into their design. Sony seems to have found a balance between brute force and finesse by speeding up what has generally always bee the greatest shortcoming of PC architecture, memory bandwidth and system component communication. One of the biggest reasons that PC hasn't seen as much optimization is because a.) the reliance on compiling for high level APIs that are packaged into the OS, and b.) The hardware spectrum doesn't sit still long enough to be studied and optimized for... problems that consoles never really have had.

I love hearing PS fangirls talk shit to XB1 owners when it comes to graphics. Well guess what PC games are evolving and are going to take off again very soon. BF4 is just the start of things to come. People that talk crap about the Xbox One simply don't understand that it was designed and built with social media and multimedia integration, games simply come second to that design philosophy. PS4 on the other hand is missing a lot of those features at launch because it was designed and built for gaming first, social media and multimedia come second. Considering that both have custom desktop/laptop parts (the CPU is better in performance to an Intel core2 quad), but only half as powerful and efficient at calculations as current gen i7.

The GPU for Xbox one is a Bonaire while the PS4 is a Pitcairn core and the PS4 has definite edge in bus speed/bandwidth and memory architecture/bandwidth. Just imagine how much faster a PC would be if the GPU didn't use a PCIe bus to communicate and instead was directly attached to the CPU, imagine if the memory had about 27.5 times as much bandwidth for CPU I/O functions and almost no overhead for the OS. The next gen consoles are essentially purpose built PCs just like steambox. I don't expect miracles or think that the PS4 is the second coming of Jesus (I am a PC gamer after all), but it is my opinion that the PS4 hasn't even begun to shine. Look at what was possible with 0.5 GB of ram, fewer cores on complex in order execution CPUs, incomparably weaker GPUs, and way less system bandwidth. If you can't look forward to what these systems will achieve then you have your eyes closed. Also you neglected that because the PS4/XB1 are so similar to PCs that porting to PC will theoretically yeild better results than last gen.

Any game on PS4 or XB1 even at the end of there life circles can be run on a PC. What makes the difference between graphics is for a high budget console game they focus there best talents to get the most out of what they have available as for PC games they normally don't.

Crysis 1 was released when the 360 and PS3 were brand new systems, and both those systems were fail to the PC version. It takes heavy optimising to release a high end PC game for consoles. It will always be the case.

Consoles have to make games linier where as PC they have no limits. Again look at Crysis 1.

A lot of what you say I agree with and have said the same. These new consoles however are just a different breed of PC, and the linear game design theory holds true for last gen, but not so much with this new generation. Us PC gamers stand to benefit from more powerful consoles as like you said they are the lowest common denominator, so for them to come close to PC parity is actually a very good thing for PCs. The Witcher 3 is open world, Infamous SS is open world, GTA V from last gen was open world... My point is that all these games are non-linear and they are on console. As more non linear games come out for consoles with shiny new coats of paint, so too will the PC gamer benefit from this.

The reasoning behind most of my contributions is that the community and industry as a whole benefit more from acceptance rather than division. Understanding that both consoles and PC belong in the same gaming ecosystem is the first step towards ending these pointless fan wars. Instead of judgement and insult let's take the time to be more efficient and learn from and about each other, regardless of hardware branding.
