Why the Xbox One could dominate 2014

i still dont see this happening, xbox fans believe all xbox needs to win is titanfall but the hype is bigger than the sales will be, its a great game, yes it is but one game doesnt make all the difference, to me and to all should be about games.
ps4 offers games at better quality when multiplatforms and it will have more exclusives than xbox down the line, we know sony had WAY more exclusives with ps3 compared with xbox 360 and they will have as many or more with ps4, indies alone will give ps4 a sheer amount of games but that does not mean it will have any less AAA.
im hoping xbox one can deliver good exclusives too but if history is to be repeated xbox wont have as many exclusives as people hope they can offer.

To me one big point that will decide who has more or better games will be this year E3, im positive playstation is just starting to amaze players, with the news ps4 has over 100 games planned for ps4 this year and who knows how many more for the next one, E3 will be a deciding point to help players foresee which console will be better for games for the next year

Going by the past three year's E3s we know exactly how it will turn out. Sony will have yet another show that is completely filled with games with major new titles being announced. While Microsoft will spend 75 percent of their show hyping the Kinect junk, show off the same tired tiny group of Xbox franchises, and then try to make a huge deal about some multiplatform game that they try to pretend is exclusive to the Xbox One.

And then Sony will go and do two more complete shows, Toyko Game Show in Japan and Gamerscon in Europe. And those two shows still won't be enough time for Sony to show off major new PS4 titles that get their own special announcements.

Sony is going to be absolutely flooded with exclusive content this gen:

1. The largest first party of all consoles. Absolutely dwarfs Microsoft's first party. Even worse when ignore the casual shovelware Kinect focused developers for Microsoft

2. Pretty much the entire Japan console gaming market outside of Nintendo first party exclusives for the PS4

3. The huge number of PSN exclusive smaller developers. Made even larger with the PS4 this gen thanks to Microsoft alienating so many of the smaller studios out there

4. And with how badly the PS4 is crushing the Xbox One in sales in Europe, we might start seeing European console developers start going Sony exclusive

Yes, even the absolute best case for Microsoft is getting killed in two out of the three major console markets - Japan and Europe. At best Microsoft might see some better sales in the US. But that would only less how badly they are losing to Sony.

Even a pick up in the US market seems unlikely for Microsoft with just how badly people are reacting to the game that is supposed to save the Xbox One - Titanfall. People are calling it a CoD clone with mechs. Last gen graphics and resolution with a frame rate only in the 30s. On top of all that it is available on the 360 and the graphically superior version is on the PC that no one needs an Xbox to play.

With the increasing number of rumors of Microsoft preparing to dump the Xbox, 100 dollars more expensive than the hugely more powerful PS4, and the smallest first party supporting it, the Xbox One even dominating just the US is something that would take a miracle.

The PS4 is outselling the Xbox One 4-1 right now. And that is with the PS4 being sold out almost everywhere. That is already at point where it costs Sony almost nothing to secure exclusive deals. If it continues at that rate developers are going to start dropping Xbox One versions of their games just like they have on losing platfoms all through the history of the console market.

Even worse for the Xbox One is the increasing number of reports of Microsoft actively looking to dump the Xbox or try sell of parts of it. That's not a platform developers are going to have much confidence in and are going to devote many resources to.

Sony "always" tell you they have all this CG movies/ games exclusives for this year only to get you excited and then push it back a year or to and then ending up to be a regular CG movie/game like the others. Hence below and that Freetown play car game they told us we would have last year. Hey are great about getting you excited about games I give you that. They have been doing that since the first ps. I know, I've had them all. We all bough this system thinking its a core gaming machine but the other one it's getting all those great games and it's making us look skinny . Now they tell us they have 100 games for us this year but I wish they don't include the indie games in this so called "100" games. Is MS can not include kinect and indie games, neither should we. We gotta stop giving them as pass or they are going use us. I could see the sales looking more comparable on a week by week basis for a month or two, but to catch up to the PS4 completely it would have to be the second coming of halo 1... And a multiplayer only game might not be that. I like the look of Titanfall for the most part. And it's not like the PS4 doesn't have some awesome games coming, they just don't market them as much as Microsoft.

Look at The Last of Us, so many people claimed it the game of the year, the game of the gen and some even claimed one of the greatest ever, and even that didn't make people hoard ps3's(I loved the game btw, just being honest)

As for the month of march, there is a chance the X1 could perform as good or better in some markets, we will just have to see.

Based on current sales it's not likely, but it is possible.

The XBO needs 3 things to be the top selling console this year.

1. Exclusive "in demand" Features: XB-TV, Better apps, delivery on all the promises of the reveal (Halo series, etc...).

2. A great E3 showing, with confirmed release dates for everything shown thus far, so gamers can prepare to get on board when a game they're looking forward to is close to launching.

3. A price cut. This is the main and most important obstacle to overcome.

If hes speaking about 2010, 11, 12 sure but 13 was a complete turnaround around and was reminiscent of 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

But if you wanna talk about E3's as to which company made them the most money and pushed more consoles that holiday. Then MS did just that.

But as to appealing to the hardcore audience, clearly Sony.

I'm not saying these things are a winning factor but it certainly will keep MS competitive.

Sony's games, and services looking more appealing by the day but MS is cooking something up to simply stay competitive.

I'm not gonna give a prediction on who wins anything. Not only is it WAY to early but I really don't care. Just as long MS and Sony are selling fine then its ok.

It's not going to be a huge system seller because it is on 360 and PC. If you want a PS4 and have either the 360 or the PC I just don't see Titanfall convincing you to buy the XB1. If you were going to buy an XB1 regardless or you don't have a 360 or a capable PC then maybe you'll pick up an XB1 if you can't live without Titanfall. However, my guess is that many COD fans can live without because they are still playing Ghost.

32 mb of esram can display 6gb worth of textures at a moments notice and continue to stream 6gb at a time. This is magnitudes more than the ps4 can display in a total period at all.

Smoking crack is bad lol. Esram may be fast but its got a limit on what it can do for the whole considering everything going through it has to be chopped up into 32Mb pieces. This is the delusional technobabble that led so man Xbox fanboys desperately wanted to believe with the PS3 and 360. And after the seven years the PS3 absolutely crushed the 360 in graphics.

The Xbox One graphics hardware is so weak and poorly designed games like Forza had to have massive downgrades just to get it to run 1080p. The PC port of Titanfall is running an outdated Source based engine and the Xbox One can't even run that at 1080p and instead has to render at the last gen resolution of 792p and a framerate that is only in the 30s.

Sony let Microsoft get away with forcing multiplatform developers to gimp the PS3 version of games down to 360 graphics levels last gen. That helped mask the massive graphical power advantage the PS3 has over the 360.

That isn't happening this gen. Sony has wised up and is making sure that third party developers are making the PS4 versions of games as good as they can.

The difference in latency between ddr3 memory to gddr5 memory is only 1ms, which is definitely not a factor that matter! Tiled resouces are still restricted and bottlenecked in how much they can achieve in overall graphical fidelity, because the 32mb Esram is still to small and not able to support 1080p resolution without troubles! Not to mention the GPU/CPU are already seriously more underpowered than their competitors.

1. First the 6GB of textures would have to be stored in DDR3 so you can only get up to 5 GB I assume.

2. Second, the PS4 doesn't need tiled resources because the main RAM is nearly as fast as ESRAM.

3. You would not want to use the entire 32 MB of memory on texture streaming because you are going to primarily need it for your render
targets.

Games such as Sniper Elite already use tiled resources, and it doesn't look better than the PS4 version, which by every indication is still superior.

Your right, Titanfall will not boost sales that much for Xbox One. Hype has taken over for a game that looks good but is missing many things that compel a gamer to buy. The online only is a big killer for many people and the 6v6 with bots is another. Just because its the first game from the old COD devs people are putting too much hope in it. But that's what you expect from an Xbox exclusive. It could be the crappest game ever yet the media alays over hypes it. MS PR at its best.

Sony has Europe in the bag and we all know it will have Japan. They also sell the consol in more markets than MS and once Sony start releasing more First party games it will be game over for MS.

I'm not saying the X1 won't sell well but it will never catch the PS4. PS4 has too many things going for it. 1080P at 60 frames, more power, cheaper to buy and more First party devs, constant demand with many gamers like myself still unable to get their hands on one and free PS Plus games every month.

As the sales gap gets bigger the PS4 will have even more going for it when developers see sense in make more exclusives for the Quad.

See thats the X1 owners mentality. "What else is there to play. As I said in another comment. Esclusives only make up abbout 10-15% of games on a consol catalogue. With X1 you see more exclusives right now because MS pretty much stopped releasing Exclusives for the 360 3 years ago in order to get games for the X1.

While Sony on the other hand have still some exclusives to come for the PS3 and when their First Party devs start announcing games it's game over. I understand when X1 owners say that because frankly that's all they can say against the PS4.

Well I still can't get my hands on a PS4 because they always are sold out and I'm not paying 400 euros in advance for a pre order I wont get for weeks.

But when I do get a PS4 I plan on getting Driveclub, KZ shadowfall, BF4, COD Ghosts, Infamous, Watchdogs, Elder Scrools only, DC Universe, Dying Light. Those games there are enough to kill my spare time for the next year and then I'll have all these First party games to enjoy once they get announced.

Don't kid yourself, we all know what happened towards last gen with games for the 360.

we are only 3 months in a 7-10 year gen cycle, it seems most xbox buyers are way too deeply concerned with the games that are already out rather than the games that will come down the line, yes xbox 1 has a good set of games released in this 3 months but no matter how you look at it playstation 4 will have more and better exclusives, xbox most likely already showned 90% of their exclusives until mid 2015 releases while ps4 didnt even show 50% of whats comming on the second half of 2014.

One could say the 360 exclusives sold better than PS3's most of last gen as well as third party games.

We can't just ignore the games that were being pushed on 360 more than its competitor.

Going with that track record I think MS's games will look just as attractive as 360. Titanfall is getting very similar hype to the first Gears at the time. (I know Titanfall isn't a MS game just using hype as an example.)

I think ultimately third party games could sell better on PS4 through out this gen.

System sellers are different. System sellers temporarily boost sales of a console its not made to carry vicory for the entire course of the year. Well, depending on when it gets released though I suppose its possible.

Every gen a console does have that system selling game. Uncharted 1, Metal Gear Solid IV for PS3.

This is really no different then Gears Of War, Mass Effect or Halo 3 at the time.

So in regards to that why can't Titanfall be a system seller? Considering it is on 360 which is the main and only reason I can think of.

Titanfall is exclusive ish as I will be buying it on PC even though I own an XB1,Sunset looks fun as heck ... project spark caters to a very specific crowd.... havent seen enough of quantum break but like what I see so far and ....please dont use Halo 2..... Infamous looks fun already have it preordered, MLB Show is the only licensed baseball game so thats a huge win right there and the Order looks like it is about to curb stomp everything graphically. However you left out Shadow of the Beast,Lily bergamo,Deep Down, Final Fantasy XIV (This one is HUGE), Diablo III (Another biggie), DCUO (Another big title),Planetside 2,Tekken Revolution,Rime, Oddworld,Outlast. Now Outlast and Diablo may be timed exclusives but as of now they are only releasing on PS4 I own both systems and am amazed how the Xbox fans always try to make it seem like the XB1 has more games than the PS4 when this is simply not true.

Guilty Gear Xrd is already exclusive to PS3/PS4 and it is rumored that the next Street Fighter is also Exclusive to PS4. That would be a horrible blow for XB1. I love killer instinct but it cannot hold up against Tekken,SF4 and GG all alone.

I wouldn't even bother naming games to some of these people. PS3 had no games for years according to Xbox 360 fans but we all know how that turned out. The only reason MS has more exclusives at launce is because 2 years ago they basically stopped releasing exclusives for the 360 while Sony gave us games like Tales of Xilia, GOW:A, GT6, Beyond and The Last of Us.

MS has to pay third party devs for games. Lets see how much they'll have to pay for future exclusives when the PS4 is 3 million sales ahead.

And don't forget, exclusive games only take up about 10-15% of the overall catalogue of games on a consol. Who needs Fable when Dragon Age 3 or FF15 is multiplat. Who needs Titanfall when we have BF and COD. Who needs Dead Rising 3 when we have Last Light and so on so one.

1. Sony stated last year all of their first-party studios are working on PS4 games and seeing many them have yet to reveal their hands, it's safe to assume this year's E3 they will blow us up with announcements...

2. besides multiplatform games, X360 almost looks like a ghost town, really. Meanwhile PS3 still has shit-tons of exclusives launching this year.

3. XB1 lose in sales number within their own hometurf, PS4 hasn't even released yet in Japan.

Thank you. I always found it frustrating to see apparently intelligent xbox fans criticizing the decisions suddenly believing 'They listened! They care!' after so many different rewordings of 'deal with it', right up to the day the story broke about Amazon pre-orders.

Besides, unless the fans can get them to upgrade the hardware, I don't see anything changing. Don't care what any xboxer says, Graphics Matter. Power Matters. Titanfall has lot of flaws that will needs fixing. I play on x box 1, but i find the game boring due to lack of players on the ground. I can see the game has potential by having playing it. But the competitive side of the game is a letdown, really truly.

Players can just shot more bots and gain victory over another team and i truly hate this aspect of the game.

Titans are too easily rewarded also to people who do very little but kill bots.

I doubt hardcore shooter fans or competitive players will play this game much.

MS has some decent exclusives like Halo 5 and Quantum Break this are the only interesting ones. Titanfall will be forgotten come November when Sledgehammer's Next Gen Cod is released. MS has announced most of their exclusives, and the dude leaked everything they have up until 2016, which is just Halo remakes, another Crackdown, and another Forza. Sony hasn't even begun to announce what they have. Keep in mind that PS always has the most exclusives. We still don't know Sony Santa Monica's, Media Molecule's, Guerrilla Games, Sony Japan Studio's, Sony Band's, Quantic Dream's new IP. And plus many great indies in between like Rime, Everybody's Gone into The Rapture, Shadow of the Beast, Daylight, Velocity 2X, Shadow Warrior, and Housemarque's next game possibly Dead nation 2. Don't forget Sony Online games like Planetside 2 and Ever quest Next.

So basically what I'm trying to say is MS fans keep saying PS4 has no exclusives, they said the same at beginning of last gen but look at how that turned out. So far we know of InFamous Second Son, Yakuzu I shin, Driveclub, The Order 1886, MLB 14 The Show, and Uncharted. That alone sounds better than anything MS is getting. 1. You don't buy a console for the UI. Nor for speaking to it. Nor for TV. You buy it for games. Even the casuals bought consoles for the games they THOUGHT they might like. Not just games, but the best VERSION of the game. Xbox One will be the 3rd best version of the game behind PC and PS4. (or at least the best console version)

A few frames IS a big deal. 30 FPS is choppy, but people are 'used' to it. Those that actually play games consistently at 60 FPS or near it, learn something about FPS...namely that it is important. There is no such thing as a 'genre' that doesn't 'need' 60 FPS. 30 FPS can be enjoyable, but you'll be biting your lip about how much better it could be if it was 60 FPS, or 120, or 240...

But even more so the PS4 delivers higher framerate in many cases, higher resolution in almost all cases, and sometimes better graphical quality. Sometimes it's a couple of these things together, and sometimes it's all three. It's not correct to downplay FPS, because it is important, but also it's not correct to forget it's all THREE of these factors coupled with probably the biggest of them all...$100 cheaper.

Casual or hardcore, NO ONE wants to pay more for less. If someone actually convinces themselves of that, regarding this or anything in life, then they didn't change water into wine, they just convinced themselves to be morons and overlook the obvious.

2. Features? Another reason to delude oneself. Are these GAMES consoles or not? Ok they are games consoles. Features are not that important. But as we've seen last generation, anything one can do over the other is usually copied by the other a few firmware updates later. Sometimes these 'features' on both systems are taken away, sometimes painful nagging additions are made. Overall both have voice control (overrated), both play games, both play netflix and have other audio/video options. But ultimately it's the games! The best you can come up with is being forced to click the seek bar to get to the end of a 15 minute clip as compared to the last few seconds on xb1 is basically NOTHING of a feature. Also again is something that can be patched, but overall doesn't matter. Especially when it concerns a tertiary aspect of the product few use anyways. We're talking about an additional click. But it really cuts both ways...and what to one man is a lesser feature, to another is a positive and better feature. Only on the PS4 can you then most likely finish the match and THEN start sharing...you know..it allows you to play the game and not start putting your team at a disadvantage because you are fooling around with sharing what few want to see when you should be focusing on helping the team win. With 15 minutes of recording time...you can play...THEN edit. So is one feature really better then the other? Seems the PS4 way gives the user more control.

3. Titanfall has been the game people have been waiting for to save the XB1. Mostly people that still can't believe XBox One is inferior as a gaming console. All Microsoft has that they can legitimately sell to gamers is exclusive games. But of course this really isn't exclusive. If you own a 360 or a PC, you too can play Titanfall. Not only that but you'll get it in full 1080p or 1440p or 5760x1440p if you wish on PC at 60 FPS, 120 FPS, etc.

Also it's ONE game. It's not revolutionary in the minds of many. It looks like a good solid FPS with some quirky killing unimpressive bots to earn points to call in a Titan to fall onto the battlefield. It'll be a bit different. It'll be fun. System seller? Not really. System selling when it's the XB1 that is has to sell? Even less.

The author forgets that XB1 doesn't have many games scheduled to come out in the next 2-3 years. They've got Halo, a game many people are waning on since 343 took over. I do think the new console will allow them to do things they couldn't before and they can take control of the franchise as their own and revitalize it...but I know that revitalization hasn't yet happened, and might never happen, and if it does, it's not going to happen anywhere near now. It's not Nov 2015, and that's a long time away for people to buy an XB1 now. Hell by XBox 360 standards > then 1/2 the 360's bought now would never make it that long. (i.e. anyone who bought a 360 in 2005 for a 2007 game, more then half needed a new one/repaired one by then). So while people want to buy a console for the life of the generation, and these do indeed look better built then the 360, why would anyone want to buy a system for a game they can't play for almost 2 years? Also people would be foolish to believe Halo has the hype of 2007 here in 2014.
Gears is even worse. It tailed off big time in it's most recent version and now it'll be a new dev. Plus they just got started on it a couple weeks ago. This game is late 2016. So if people aren't going to buy for Halo 5 in 2015 right now, they definitely aren't going to buy for Gears whatever in 2016.

Meanwhile you focus on those two games you forget about the rest of the situation. Mainly that Microsoft needs to add by creation, acquisition, or both about 10 more studios just to catch up to what Sony already has in it's possession. Those studios are making games. Those games, are in some cases probably halfway done.

All Microsoft has is a 'we know new IP is critical'. Ok. Good. So over the next year MAYBE they create/acquire a dozen devs. Where to hire. Where to buy/rent property. Then actually hire people. Who then have to brainstorm . Who then need their artists to do their work. Then they can start on the actual game and 2-3 years after that the game will be out.

Of course this would just allow Xbox One to catch up to the exclusives that PS4 will have over the XB1 the first few years, along with better versions of multiplatform games, and lower price.

While I think Microsoft can definitely be more proactive then Nitnendo, at least Nintendo has a bunch of quality IP's they sit on. When it comes to system selling exclusives...Xbox One is looking at a BIGGER drought then the Nintendo Wii U. Oh sure they'll have more overall games, so there won't be an overall game drought. But exclusive games? Nintendo even with it's drought will put out more then Microsoft will over the next few years. Because Nintendo has the IP's and Microsoft doesn't have the studios. Oh sorry, they have a few focused on Kinect, good luck with that.

4. It can't be the thing people want, it's too screwed by it's design, and too bloated thanks to executives. The execs want Kinect, the people don't. That doesn't mean people forced can't find some use for it. But a few novelty gimmicks don't make a gaming system better. Does it make it capable of outputting a 1080p deferred rendered image at next gen quality? Nope.

Meanwhile everyone knows it is inferior, it's the camera no one wants that Microsoft has barely supported gamewise that is causing it to be overpriced.

I agree a wake up call, a few of them have been sent to Redmond, Washington. The problem is, every time we send one we realize they never woke up from the previous one. This continues to this day everytime they spin the power differences as nothing or spin the NPD numbers with bs like pretending the 360 wasn't supply constrained and thus this XB1 is the best because it sold more then it. Every time they claim Titanfall is the best thing since sliced bread and that it'll be a long time before anyone tops it type claims.

But also we've seen a HUGE dropoff in sales, and really JUST LIKE THE WII U, it was out of stock for a couple of weeks in most areas and that's it. Anyone that wants an XB1 could of picked them up in early December. So many people keep saying the XB1 is selling so good it's going to continue like that.

I'm saying while it could continue to sell decently, it also could drop off like the Wii U, and so far it has. Ultimately I think it would be less of a drop off, but of course also similar.

The hardcore that stuck with MS after all the idiocy has bought them if they can afford them, or is just about to with Titanfall. If Titanfall really is that much of a pull then they should literally sell an extra 100,000-300,000 units because of it at least.

By E3 we'll know how screwed Microsoft it. But also be wary of the lie. We'll see at E3 what games are coming out in 2014, and some for 2015, but I'm sure a bunch of what we see that might be hinted at 2014 or early 2015, will really always be slated for late 2015 to late 2016. Like Gears. Like Halo. A few other things. Maybe even get exclusive footage from Battlefront or something like that. Which hypes up a base until they realize their version won't be the best. But this early on it can help make a better E3. I see MS focusing on crap like that. Maybe announce a new IP acquistion. Or a new dev acquisition.

What I do think is that Microsoft will be short in quality AA or AAA exclusive IP's for 2014 and early 2015 on XBox One to show us at E3.

So overall because Microsoft simply didn't do anything to prepare themselves for this generation studio wise, and they will never compete on the technicals, is that Microsoft can't even compete with Sony until all the devs they don't have, somehow not only exist, but have long enough to have games actually out for it. Then at least on the exclusive front, MS could 'catch up'. But that's like late 2016 at the earliest, and most likely 2017-2018. Which of course all those Sony dev's will most likely be putting out their 2nd offerings.

So I don't see Xbox catching PS4 because they can't even compete until 2017. If the games aren't out until about then, how in the hell do they expect people to buy their console even at price parity? Even with such a screwed up job they did I can't see them competing very well even at $299. It would stop the bleeding, and more cost conscious people might choose them based on such a price. But right now they sit at $499.

Also as time goes on believe it or not, more and more people figure out how inferior the Xbox One is, and how all the multiplatform games that they give reason to want to enjoy a better version of as reason to buy a new console, will be best on PS4.

Even the idiots who pushed all of reality out of their minds in hopes and dreams that it would be different when games started coming out....most have realized that it simply isn't going to be like that.

If you ask me, and no one has, I think PS4 has another surge of people who were waiting to buy an XBox One, who will now go PS4....at least first, because they cannot deny that 60 FPS or 1080p/900 vs 720/792p, so on and so forth in differences in most games and will switch to PS4. By now there's probably been ten million kid schoolyard arguments and even the kid that resists reality and is a bit slow has conceded by now that he can't win the Xbox One vs PS4 argument.

Look it's not about predicting crap, it's about seeing reality in the present. It's all right there for us to see. Know the future best, by knowing the present best.

In this case, the only way XB1 competes is with exclusive games, and Microsoft doesn't have the studios to pump them out. It takes 2-3 years for studios that already exist to create quality titles. (not talking about indies) AT this point people should do the math. A couple of 2nd party titles like Quantum Break or Sunset overdrive won't change or save their bacon. Not to mention they need price advantage not disadvantage.

I'll buy an Xbox One this gen, just like I said i'd buy a PS3 last gen. While there's a small chance of it happening, it never did last gen. The only appeal Xbox One has for me, personally, is as a media hub and football is over. I also still have the dexterity to use a remote. I just feel like the Xbox team blew it at E3.

As others have stated, the one redeeming game is also on PC where shooters dominate(for me anyway-ill always prefer a mouse/keyboard vs joysticks...IM NOT FLYING A PLANE.) Who knows; I hope the best for MS as I still play Skyrim on my 360 now and again but it definitely seems like they've got an uphill battle.

The only flaw in the Xbox one's recording feature, is kinect voice activation. Which in itself is one way of initiating a record of a video clip. The problem is when you say, "Xbox record that" it sometimes does not record the clip because of ambient background noise. Works better when using a gaming headset though with the tv volume down. Editing clips is amazing. I can not wait to record destiny clips of awesome gameplay and edit them into epic videos.

I think Microsofts play on Titanfall is not going to pan out as they hoped. It'll be a good/ great game but a game changing console seller I just don't see it. Sony to this point has had to play no cards at all in the console game with Microsoft. It's Microsoft that is behind the 8 ball and needs a big play. Whatever windfall Microsoft gets from Titanfall will already be negated by the Sony launch in Japan and Microsoft would be happy, happy if Titanfall breaks even with the Sony Japan launch. Anyone see that happening? Another thing in this console game you'll see and I don't think Microsoft fan understands is they the Microsoft fans are always pointing to the PS4's supposed lack of games but that to this point is a total and complete none issue although Sony is about to play a big card in March with "Infamous-second-son" ; and that will be a big seller on the PS4 if not a huge seller. Also Sony or game Developers keep pushing some big game titles for the PS4 back and at some point they will be released and it's not going to surprise me if these games show up when Microsoft is on a run and Sony needs to make a play. Also Sony has 2 games in their pocket that could be played at any time Sony feels the need and they are 2 that Sony fan wants to play 1st War Thunder and 2nd and more important Planetside 2. Again I'm thinking Sony is holding on to these titles until they need them. Example- Sony has a flat 6 weeks of sale and Microsoft X1 is selling well. What options do we/Sony have? Ok let's drop Planetside2 and Driveclub plus whatever the free game of the month would be and in addition it just so happens there are 2 great multi platform games in the same window. A play like that will sell consoles. My point to all this is Microsoft needs something big to go their way and soon as they have some unhappy people in the boardroom and that is never a good thing. I can't see the multimedia feature set that the Xbox One offers making much of a difference. There are too many other competitors in the market - Roku, Apple TV, Smart TVs, your cable provider and last generation consoles to name a few - for the Xbox One, imo, to be able corner the casual market on multimedia services. Besides that, you don't have to pay an extra fee to access Netflix, Hulu plus etc to use these apps on other platforms. Voice control is cool, but it is also offered by other platforms, albeit in a more limited way. Motion control is only good for few genres - MS should not have placed so much emphasis on the kinect it should have been, like the ps camera, an optional purchase. Imo, MS tried the kitchen sink approach with the Xbox One instead of focusing on making it a great gaming console - this is why it will not better the PS4 in sales this generation. It may still sell well, just not as well as the PS4.

Sony was able to provide some really great quality exclusives while MS focused on Apps & Kinect the last few years of the previous generation.

With the added power, lower price point and Sony's focus on games will continue this thread.

While Sony continues to claim way more than half the market and they show no signs of slowing down in fact there sales are about to go BOOM With the launch in Japan. So while each of those Microsoft exclusives may be really good games, if not enough people are buying the X1 how great they are will not matter. And things are not going great for Microsoft not by a long shot.

I am a Playstation fanboy, I have the PS4 with all current exclusives and 1080p multi platform titles like AC4, BF4 and NBA 2K14 etc. Nothing on the console is bringing me back right now. Resogun excluded.

The graphics on the console which everyone is applauding for being 1080p means nothing when the games are all so "meh". The Wii U has the better games of 2014 right now which says a lot considering the condition that is in.

The Order 1866 could end up being another cover shooter for all we know, how boring! And what is left? Another God of War? Another Uncharted or The Last of Us? Great set piece, after great set piece is no better than a Michael Bay films sequence of explosions, and we all know how shallow that feels. Oh and lets not get started on the indie titles, yes they are great but they were great on the PC a year ago when I picked them up on a Steam sale for a dollar.

I guess my point is, if Microsoft come out and produces new experiences then they could dominate going forwards, having better graphics is worthless if the game play is no better than what you were doing last generation. At this point my PS4 is taking a back seat to The Wonderful 101, Super Mario World and Pikmin 3... Gameplay over graphics every day of the week... Oh and at this point Titanfall is a system seller as I will be picking up an Xbox One for it in March.

It's not about games my friend. If it was then Microsoft would have the console that has sold 5 million plus in 13 weeks. All the Microsoft fanboys already purchased their X1 and now sales have gone stale for the X1. It has nothing to do with games. Microsoft has missed the boat on something the question is what is it that their lost on? The 360 owners have no reason to upgrade at all and those that did more than a few went with the PS4. There are other console options on the market and there all at a lower price point than the X1 and by a long way.
Maybe Microsoft miscalculated their own base and they clearly missed the boat on the take over the living room entertainment center concept. As clearly not many if any want the X1 for the entertainment center idea they seem to only have hardcore X1 fans that have bought the system. And if I'm wrong on that and their are many that went for the X1 for the entertainment system then Microsoft is really in trouble because if their fan base is not the one buying the X1 then they have real problems. I'm pretty sure I don't need to say this but I will. I was part of the Microsoft fan base with the Xbox 360 but I went with the PS4 and I have not one regret. Microsoft has some concerns and they need this to turn around soon and games are not going to solve the problems that they have IMO. I have a feeling it'll be the 360 owners that feel the pain of Microsofts problems. Microsoft had no problem selling out millions of original Xbox owners that didn't upgrade to the 360 and they'll shut that system down without a thought to save a buck.

Here's how I see it. The xbox one and ps4 both had a very good 2013. The ps4's launch was still a lot better. After that though, the ps4's sales are still really high, and the xbox one's fell off of a cliff. It's really not trending that much better than the wiiu was at this point. I'm not going to say it'll have wiiU-like sales numbers though until I see a few more months of sales. If it keeps trending like this though, especially after titanfall, then it might be another wiiU.

Also I think the fact that it's available on PC and the 360 kind of screws MS. They did delay the 360 version to help push units for the X1, but I don't see a single game moving that many units to where the X1 will surpass Sony in sales. Eh, Titanfall is an amazing experience IMO but I don't know if it'll make that much of a difference. While it'll certainly have an impact on gaming this year it's still just a single game. Eventually gamers are going to grow tired of having to play Titanfall, Halo 5 is rumored to have been pushed to 2015 and who knows how good Quantum Break will be. What's left? Sunset Overdrive? All good games but you can't forget that Sony isn't just lying around doing squat, 3rd party titles will look better on the PS4 and yes something that marginal will sway some people towards the PS4. Infamous is sure to do well and idk but I have a feeling The Order's hype meter will skyrocket after Tuesday 10 est time. Titanfall will provide a much needed boost for the X1 but to say it'll DOMINATE 2014 is kind of pushing it, the PS4 is still an extremely hot product and with plenty of games on the horizon and a few unannounced exclusive heavyweights likely to appear at E3, no way the X1 dominates IMO. Could be a much tighter race though by the end of 2014.
