Brothers: a Tale of Two Sons Review | GameCloud

William at GameCloud writes: "Brothers: a Tale of Two Sons is the sort of game that the industry needs. It’s not indie, it’s not blockbuster, but instead, a small and expertly designed experience that’s coming from the minds of established studios. It’s arguably a bit steep with its pricing, costing around 20 dollars for just over three hours of gameplay. However, it is my opinion that this slightly higher cost is worth it. The narrative is simply outstanding and does not require dialogue to influence the player to heavily invest their emotions within such a short period of time. The puzzles are a little simple, but the satisfaction of the dual-controlled characters makes the general experience enjoyable as you traverse so many different and unique environments. It’s also incredible the way the player will psychically attach themself to each stick, which is noticeably uncomfortable when one brother is missing. It’s a little disappointing that the graphical design can’t quite live up to its artistic core, but in saying that, it delivers well enough. It’s a wonderful adventure that will keep you invested till the end, and leave you with a strong impression."

i only played its demo it was okaish . i didn't know that this game will do that much good

To me it seemed to start of rather slowly and even a bit aimless, but from chapter 3 on it really shines. The game world alone is worth the admission price IMO.
Also, the fact that the chars speak gibberish holds the potential to immerse the player in a very personal way, since you're starting to listen for subtle nuances in intonation and tempo to try to make sense of their language. In the end, the chars say what you feel would be right or even wrong for them to say.

The demo doens't hold a candle to the full game. Much like Journey, it's about the game/experience as a whole, not as a sum of its parts (i.e., gameplay, atmosphere, story, setting, ..)

The original launched back in 2013 and in the 11 years since then, the original game has become a cult classic!

I don’t think so but here it is. I did enjoy it originally I wonder what they changed.

SimpleSlave69d ago

No, and the new graphics are sad. Should've at least kept the original painterly style and just make it with better shaders, effects, lighting, etc.

As it is, this is unnecessary.

SyntheticForm69d ago

Never played it, so I'll be picking this up.

InUrFoxHole69d ago

If its a Sony game you know it's getting a remake... asap

jznrpg69d ago

This was made during the PS3 gen but Sony had nothing to do with making it.

I know man I'm just throwing out static

FinalFantasyFanatic68d ago

I thought this only came out on Xbox and PC at that time.

QuantumMechanic69d ago

I played and finished it on Xbox One.

jznrpg69d ago

It came out generation before though

QuantumMechanic65d ago (Edited 65d ago )

Yes, but years later it was re-released in one of those bargain hybrid 360/One cases.

BrainSyphoned69d ago (Edited 69d ago )

It was a one month Xbox 360 exclusive during the 2013 Summer of Arcade.
