Dark Souls II World Size Is The Same as Predecessor

Yui Tanimura, co-director of Dark Souls II, revealed during an interview with EDGE that Dark Souls 2‘s world would be the same size as the original Dark Souls, but will give players more freedom in how to progress.

Yup. Had three characters in Dark Souls and they had 55, 50 and 35 hours of game time respectively. It may not look like it but Dark Souls is a very long game. A single playthrough without NG+ is probably around 30-40 hours and that's when you're very familiar with the game

Dark souls took me like...70 hours, and that was without even doing the em...side quest clan things, in this one it's very likely more people will be doing the statues, as the company are making them more...well, available. ANd not just some random **** you stumble across. Not to mention the PvP will be better in this one.

I think this one will be long enough too. Can't wait

That's a tad disappointing, at least there are more ways to complete a level that the developers put it, instead of say, the community finding shortcuts, which will probably still happen.

This is great news. Dark Souls was a huge game world and each area was unique and had it's own atmosphere. I can't help but feeling that if they tried to make the world even bigger somehow the overall design would get watered down. The Souls series are definitely my favorite games of the gen.

It's not smaller which is good. The original DS had a great sized world to begin with. No complaints here.

and by size maybe i mean how ambitious the game is..

dark souls was perfect for me... i expect the same with better graphics and new mechanics

They aren't using P2P servers this time, they went back to Dedicated servers like Demon Souls had. That game was much better for online and had no framerate problems. Also a few other personal views on why it's better but they took a lot back from Demon Souls for Dark Souls 2.

Bigger rarely means better, and the size of the original was more than enough to please the masses
