esports, call of duty & console shouldn't be in the same sentence.

wake me up when they are even close to the level of Starcraft players and Dota Players......

ziggurcat3748d ago

wake me up when playing video games is even close to being an actual sport...

Are_The_MaDNess3748d ago (Edited 3748d ago )

well sports is a source of amusement or entertainment in the old language, its only in the later times that they link sports to running and playing with balls.

Sport can be alot of things, aslong as its fun.
most sports also require a degree of skill.
both of witch games can fall a part off.

also a second thing. what does normal phyical sport have to do with anything. we are on a gaming site commenting about a esports championship with a game in it.

esports are already a term well used and known about.

also another point, the states are already giving out athlete visas for esport players.

@ are_the_madness:

the definition of sport:

sport

noun
1.
an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

so in order for it to be a sport, it requires physical exertion... and i'm afraid raging like an idiot seen here: http://youtu.be/pJZ3inF2EGc doesn't count.

what does normal sport have to do with it? because video games are *not* sports. putting an "e" in front of the word "sports" doesn't make it so.

and as i've said before in a related article thread: the US has also classified pizza as being a vegetable, so what in the world do they know?

Are_The_MaDNess3748d ago

actually, if you read up on the term sport it can be used in anything that pushes you more than you would do at normal.

also, words are not bound by a dictionary. words can be anything its can be totally random letters as long as people understand what it is. meaning any made up word no matter how silly they are is a word as long as its defined in some way for the second party.

also, most countries give out visas for esports, atleast the larger once when it come to championships.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

also, did you know that Chess is a recognized sport of the International Olympic Committee? it is.
not everything is like you want it to be. words are words. no dictionary is right and just because a word isn't described in one way in the book doesn't mean that it any less wrong.

and actually, by just putting an e in-front of sports actually makes it another word. weird how words and letters work, add some letters in and you have another completely different word with a different meaning.
by putting an e infront of sport to make esport define it as esport as in electronic sport and not sport witch you think of.

take the term mind sport for example, it can be classified with chess and other board games, even speed reading and computer programming.

esport players should have the same obligation to mental agility as we do to physical agility.

yeahokchief3748d ago (Edited 3748d ago )

But have you considered this?

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

i think you are greatly overestimating the level of skill required for it to be great tonight.

TheObserver3748d ago

Eh . . . Next gen of E-Sports with a game that have aim assist? Okay! Ha!

Are_The_MaDNess3748d ago

i know right.... sad isnt it. that they need to have aim assist in a game. and they are trying to have a real championship with this game. LMAO.

CS players > Cod players......

Ah, sponsored by MS. Well that explains it. Nothing like crowning a champ when you're leaving out half the player base.

Team_Litt3748d ago

Sony are more than welcome to host a tourny of their own...no?

hazardman3748d ago

Exactly. I dont know why theyre mad about an event sponsored by MS. BTW would be cool to see who does have better FPS players. PS or Xbox. I play on both and IMO the competition a little bit more on XBL. That being said I dont play these games everyday 24-7 either but can hold my own on both when im serious.

Mikeyy3748d ago

Kind of a hollow victory to win this championship when half your competition is locked out because they simply prefer PlayStation.

Team_Litt3748d ago

Hollow $1 million...I'll take it.

Mikeyy3748d ago

Still can't claim to be the best. Having a million bucks doesn't make you the best at COD

USA0073748d ago

You don't win 1mil anyways, 1st place gets 400k

hazardman3748d ago

Did you have a shot at the $$$ given the chance and that might as well be the ? For everyone mad complaining that it was only for Xbox gamers at a Xbox sponsored event. Because if you didnt have a chance why you MAD. Tweet Sony and have them do an event for you guys.

Controversy in the COD community feels like it happens within an alternate timeline. Activision will take the piss with something, there will be a momentary fuss about it, and then they will forget about it and carry on anyway. Repeat this cycle literally every year for the rest of time.

They call that a crack head! Thats what this is really about, its an addiction. People who dont smoke cigarettes look and laugh at the addicts that spend $8-$10 a pack, but they cant help themselves, they are addicted. That same analogy applies perfectly to the whole MT industry. Only an addict that was not thinking clearly would spend this kind of money on something so frivolous. A round of multiplayer provides the same high a person gets from scratching a lotto ticket, or putting money on a sports bet. MT in general need to really be regulated because you have a generation of kids becoming adults who grew up only knowing the MT era of gaming. Its normal to them and they will in turn teach their kids the same by just being a gaming parent and getting their kids involved with them in gaming. Thats why no matter how ridiculous the headlines keep getting out of the MT industry, it never seems to fade or go away.

I'm so tired of hearing about what they're doing with this game, its never going to change and it's never going to value the consumer over money, furthermore the people who engage so heavily in the microtransactions I guess allegedly are having a blast and can't wait to do it some more this year when the new version of the game drops.
