2013 Saw Fewest Amount Of 90+ Games On Metacritic In Xbox 360 And PS3 Lifespan

Sony's number crunchers will likely be delighted to hear that the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 beat their counterparts the Xbox 360 and Xbox One in the average Metascore, with PS3 releases notching up an average Metascore of 70.1 and PS4 bringing in 73.4. Xbox One titles, on the other hand, sit with an average of 67.7, and the year’s Xbox 360 titles come in with an average of 66.9.

i think average metascore is irrevelant. 2013. brought TLOU - highest rated exclusive on all platforms and now there are 3 ps3 exclusives higher rated than any x360 exclusive:

uncharted 2 metacritic 96
TLOU metacritic 95
little big planet metacritic 95

jcnba283764d ago

Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 both have a metacritic of 97.

mikeslemonade3764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

It's not irrelevant. It's a better criteria compared to personal opinion.

Certainly there's a few games that don't make sense to me personally like the Mario Galaxys and the GTA4 on PS3, but for the sake of debating there's nothing closer to a fact than a metacritic score when you are debating about which is the better game.

^pasko
That seems about right. I'd say the best Xbox 360 exclusive ever was Gears 1(life-to-date) and i'd personally put that right under Uncharted 2 and TLoU.

Agent20093764d ago

Who cares about highest Metacritic scores? It's a matter of YOUR taste, not REVIEWER's choice.

Mister_Dawg3764d ago

Yeah and both are crap.
What's your point?

Skip_Bayless3764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

It's criteria for objectivity, game awards, bragging rights etc. That's the point.

The PC always says they have the best games well here is proof for cost of the PS3 you're getting a far better value of game.

Killzoner993764d ago

That's not really fair. The better games are always on Playstation.

Agent-863764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

I don't know about that. How about this quote from the article:

"While the PC’s average Metascore was at 69.1, the platform saw the highest amount of exclusive games--a whopping 45 in total--that aggregated at 75 or higher. The platform with the second highest was the PlayStation 3, with eight."

And console gamers are always saying that the PC doesn't have good exclusives. 45 PC games at 75 score or better compared to 8 for the PS3 (the second highest). Sounds like the PC had more 75 or higher games than all of the consoles combined.

Eyeco3764d ago

Should come as no surprise considering 2013 was the last year before their sucessors even still the out put of games in spite of that great, especially compared to 2012 which was lousy imo.

JohnnyTower3764d ago

Gamers must be expecting more. We have been spoiled lately. Every year just gets better and better quality games. Unfortunately the hype usually ruins a good game by overstating what the game will bring. Overhyped and underdelivered seems to tank a lot of reviews.

theshredded3764d ago

Vita has none
Wii U has none
3ds has one(1 exclusive for 2013)
pc has 5 mostly indies(2 exclusives for 2013)
Xbox360 has 3 LOL(1 exclusive for 2013)
PS3 has 5(2 exclusives for 2013)

DoctorJones3764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

The Wii U has 2.

EDIT:And the 3ds has 2.

theshredded3764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

Wii u has 4(2 exclusives for 2013)
thought it was abandoned as i don't follow nintendo's wii u but appreciate it
u are wrong with 3ds it has one
too late to edit i suppose

DoctorJones3764d ago

Fire Emblem and Link between Worlds makes 2 3ds games. Too late to edit I suppose.

ruefrak3764d ago

The more I hear about it, the more I hate metacritic. Too many people put too much weight behind the metacritic score. Gaming execs pay close attention to the score. PS+ won't offer games unless they have a certain metacritic score. Too much power is being put into the hands of a few individuals. Less than 20 people get to put their inputs into this all important score and that score really makes an impact on what people purchase.

Beastforlifenoob3764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

i know people are like TLOU got 95 and Mario Galaxy got 97 and because of this people then say TLOU SUCKS HAIR HORSE BALLS (exaggerating but slightly true). I prefer Uncharted over TLOU but both are AMAZING. But my n0.1 game every is still the original bad company and that got a pretty bad metacritic in comparison

iiorestesii3764d ago

So there should be no game reviews then? We should make it illegal to have expectations going into a game! Metacritic also gives a user score so discard that 20 people argument.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing6914h ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos12h ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius1h ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy8511h ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
