Awesome.It's over 9000!!!!

himdeel3764d ago

Yep, I am looking forward to the details.

MWong3764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

@ himdeel
Me too I want to know the prices (hopefully $5/each and some free for PS+ subscribers) and file size average. I want to play some of my PS3 titles on the PS4. Too bad those titles probably won't get a graphics boost, but still can't wait.

LOL @ it's over 9000. I need to dust of my DBZ dvd collection.

ABizzel13764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

Sound to me like it's probably for upscaling games up to 1080p, and adding PS4 features like screenshots, and recording.

"Adding mini-games"

I have no idea what this is for? Maybe to ease loading...?

rainslacker3764d ago

Last year they also had that patent which allowed trophies to be added to older games without having to change any existing code.

Would be cool to go back and play all those old games again for the trophies, since I do so anyways.:)

miyamoto3763d ago

Uncharted 2 has been using cloud technology since 2009 and look at that great game's graphics.

Fast forward to 2014 you would wonder how much Sony has mastered using the cloud for Gaikai and PS4 games!!!!!

P0werVR3763d ago (Edited 3763d ago )

^

Mastered?! ....LOL! Yeah sure.

Until you you can claim on developing new gen triple A games and can add live content to it. Then we can talk about mastering cloud. Other than that, Sony with cloud computing features is on the back-end here compared to Microsoft. Future proof!

abzdine3763d ago

@P0werVR:
I heard that X1 becomes 10times more powerful when using cloud? Do you have any proof of that now that it's out?
how about Forza 5 1080p impossible without the cloud?
please keep quiet don't ingest any BS you hear.

mikeslemonade3763d ago (Edited 3763d ago )

Hopefully there's a subscription base with a PS plus discount.

Looking forward to playing all those platforming games and RPGs.

sorry newb question.. what do you mean?

So you're a DBZ newb? Wow.

I want to watch dragon ball again for the 9000 times.

cell9893764d ago

you must not watch a lot of tv, specifically anime. Thats a reference to the popular show Dragon Ball where power levels were measured and 9000 was the max, so anything above 9000 was insanely powerful

CryofSilence3764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

@cell989

And it turns out that 9000 is pathetically weak when you find out Frieza's second form is over 1 million (and final form much stronger than that). Then 1 million becomes pathetically weak as the saiyans go through their different saiyan forms, which I believe hit 2.5 billion.

Lmao in dragon ball z vageta aka goku's rival used his scouter on goku and then nappa said what is his power level vageta? He then says ITS OVER 9000!!!!! and breaks the scouter.

MONOLITHICIDE3764d ago

Wasn't freeza like 1000000 or something. I haven't watched dragon ball z or dragon ball since the 90s.

MestreRothN4G3764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

Enjoy it while it lasts. The excitement will end as you play your first game with the neverending INPUT LAG.

It doesn't matter which connection you have. You'll always be playing the game somewhere else. You'll send you command, the server will wait until it gets there and send you the graphics back. You'll only see the result of your action when you receive the graphics.

This service doesn't have ANY chance of being barely decent. Enough said.

MONOLITHICIDE3764d ago

And you know this. Gaikai is promising the fastest network to date so well see won't we.

bradleejones3764d ago

Apparently you never used Gaikai. I was using a Dell Inspiron 6000 stock and playing Crysis 2.It looked incredible with no lag. At the time I had 25mbps which is not insane fast or anything.

MestreRothN4G3764d ago

Pretty low standards, I see.

KwietStorm_BLM3764d ago

Thanks. What part of the engineering process did you work on?

badz1493764d ago

@MestreRothN4G

have you tried Remote Play? if you have, you wouldn't be talking about input lag.

ZodTheRipper3763d ago

Ehm
HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT
?

Stop trolling.

Shabutie133763d ago

"Have you tried remote play.."

You mean the one over wifi in your house? Yeah that works fine, because everyone has gigabit routers, for the most part. Have you tried remote play from a remote location? There is an input delay. There will always be input delay, roughly 2/3 the speed of light with IDEAL conditions. "But that is so fast", the matter of milliseconds when playing a shooter is in game life or death.

People will just buy on to any little piece of information they here. It's really pathetic.

Sony talks about the cloud? ... omgwtfbbq over 9000!
MS talks about the cloud? ... boo hiss down with MS liars

Honestly guys?

Majin-vegeta3764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

Hmmm not sure if serious or not??

M$=Cloud can make xbone 3x more powerful

Sony=Cloud is used for streaming etc...

Do you see the difference or does someone else have to draw you a clear pix??

SoulSercher6203764d ago

Care to tell me how Sony's and MS's cloud are EXACTLY the same when they clearly aren't?

fanboybeatdown3764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

Thanks for your offering to help, but I am already totally familiar with what Sony is doing with Gakai.

It appears, though, that you guys haven't thought it through.

When you consider the actual premise of what Sony is doing with Gakai and the streaming of actual realtime games through their cloud the promises of MS and Sony stumble on the exact same pitfalls.

Think about it.
Sony's cloud will be streaming game data, game graphics and textures, game AI (all in realtime) and then will be receiving gamer input from your gamepad to your PS4, then to your internet modem, then over the internet onto their servers, then processing the input on their servers, then mixing your received input with the game's response, then returning the signal to the internet, then your modem, then your ps4 which will then need to process the data again and display the signal on your TV. This will need to happen near instantaneously every few miliseconds, otherwise the whole thing will become an unplayable lagfest.

That's the truth of it, chaps.

Sony's cloud is a massive undertaking fraught with problems, in much the same way that MS cloud offering is.

This is why celebrating Sony's cloud and poo-pooing MS's offering is such a sad double standard.

Hope that helped you work it out.

GTgamer3764d ago

@fanboybeatdown
You act as if Gaikai never existed well it did and worked perfectly fine won awards and everything so I have no reason to expect anything less this time around :/ that's all I'm saying.

ibrake4naps3763d ago

Cloud is only real when sony does it ...

warczar3763d ago

I'm saving this conversation for the day when Microsoft finally comes out and admits that 3x more power through the cloud was just a bunch of bullshit. I'll message you with a picture of me streaming a PS3 game to my PS4.

Honestly Guy.

fanboybeatdown3763d ago (Edited 3763d ago )

Ah you guys still don't believe me.
I'll just leave this here
http://www.techradar.com/au...

I would say it works far from perfectly. It may work if you live in Japan, Hong Kong or South Korea and have a 100Mbps connection..good luck with that in TROTWorld

Just to throw some more cold hard facts into the mix, here’s some real life word internet speeds that fall short of what’s required for gakai streaming:
http://www.netindex.com/dow...

Also note I live in Australia and Australia’s average internet speed is 4.7Mbps.
Suffice to say Gakai in Australia will be a big fail with that amount of bandwidth. That's a no-brainer.
http://www.cnet.com.au/aust...

also, @warczar
Good on you for caring that much! I tip my hat to you for saving an internet conversation for 6-12 months just to prove you can take a gakai screenshot lol.

One thing tho. When you send me a screenshot of the gakai streaming, be sure to include statistics for game lockups, input lag, intermittent buffering and a sample of reviews from credible mainstream websites from around the world.

A screenshot by itself ain't worth a hoot... but you knew that right?

Honestly!
:)

piroh3764d ago

sounds interesting. later they could emulate PC games on max settings if the technology proves itself, i bet there are no licensing restrictions

Godmars2903764d ago

If you're talking PC games playing on a console, there likely will be licensing issues. That's just how things seem to go.

piroh3764d ago

well, ok with me. i´m already busy finishing exclusives let alone multiplats or PC games. so many games these days it´s not even healthy

ginsunuva3764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

How do you emulate a PC game if it's running on a PC?

I think you mean stream PC games, though that's much more expensive. Putting a bunch of cheap Ps2s and Ps3s in the servers is cheaper than high-end GPUs.

If you want PC streaming, look to Nvidia's GRID, which just entered beta.

KratosSaveUs3764d ago

I'm still trying to figure out how this will work. Will it be similar to Netflix or d we have to buy all the games all over again.

Majin-vegeta3764d ago

No one knows at this point but Hopefully.

Godmars2903764d ago

You can bet that if Sony tries for a setup similar to Netflix, pay a subscription fee for access to full library, people are going to lose it if its separate and in addition to PS+.

iamnsuperman3764d ago

PS+ isn't exactly a burden on people (like 45 pounds for the year). I can see it being a subscription based service similar to Netflix because individual pricing would be an issue getting it right and they are not going to do it for free

nunley333764d ago

This "wrapper" that's being made to work with existing games sounds fantastic. Sounds like adding psn functionality to the legacy games we may have bought, I love this idea. I would pay for this easily.

kayoss3764d ago

I actually hope it will be more like Steam. You buy the game you want digitally through Gaikai.

GraveLord3764d ago

No, you don't have to buy your games all over again. You already own them and you can play them on your PS1/PS2/PS3 whenever you want.

As for those who don't own these systems or games for them, they can play these games through the PS4 cloud at an as-of-yet undisclosed subscription fee or on a pay-per-title basis. We just don't know yet.

thebudgetgamer3764d ago

I'm hoping it works like the Sega channel did back in the day.

GrimbleGromble3764d ago

I loved me that Sega channel. Short lived and I was the only one of my friends that had it.

LeCreuset3764d ago

The Netflix model would be smarter PR wise. Paying to access games you already own is a much harder sell than paying to access a library of games, some of which you may already own.

JodyCones3764d ago

If it was like netflix for all the classics in HD i'd pay for the subscription in a heartbeat.

Bethesda Needs to Reduce the Gaps Between New Fallout and Elder Scrolls Releases

Waiting a decade for new instalments in franchises as massive as Fallout and Elder Scrolls feels like a waste.

gamingbolt.com
-Foxtrot9h ago

Microsoft have Obsidian but I feel it's Bethesda who just don't want to play ball as they've always said they want to do it themselves.

Once MS bought Zenimax in 2020 they should have put the Outer Worlds 2 on the back burner, allow Bethesda to finish off its own Space RPG with Starfield (despite totally different tone why have two in your first party portfolio with two developers who's gameplay is a tad similar) and got Obsidian for one of their projects to make a spiritual successor to New Vegas.

When the Elder Scrolls VI is finished Bethesda can then onto the main numbered Fallout 5 themselves.

The Outer Worlds 2 started development in 2019 so putting it on the back burner wouldn't have been the end of the world, they'd have always come back to it once Fallout was done and it would have been nicely spaced out from Starfields release once they had most likely stopped supporting it and all the expansions were released.

If they did this back in 2020 when they bought Zenimax and the game had a good, steady 4 - 5 years development, you might have seen it release in 2025.

We are literally going to be waiting until 2030 at the very earliest for Fallout 5 and all they seem bothered about is pushing Fallout 76.

RaidenBlack7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

Its not just only Todd not playing ball.
Obsidian have made a name for themselves in delivering stellar RPGs, but most famous once have always been sequels/spin-offs to borrowed IPs like KOTOR 2, Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Stick of Truth etc.
Obsidian wants to invest more in their own original IPs like Outer Worlds or Pillars of Eternity with Avowed.
Similar to what Bluepoint & inXile wants to do or Kojima is doing (i.e not involving anymore in Konami's IPs).
So yea, even if New Vegas has the most votes from 3D Fallout fans, Obsidian just wants to do their own thing, like any aspiring dev studio and MS is likely currently respecting that.
But a future Fallout game from Obsidian will surely happen. Founder Feargus Urquhart has already stated an year ago that they're eager to make a new Fallout game with Bethesda, New Vegas 2 or otherwise. Urquhart was the director of the very first 1995's Fallout game after all.
And don't forget Brian Fargo and his studio inXile, as Brian Fargo was the director of Fallout's 1988 predecessor: Wasteland

KyRo4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

Obsidian should take over the FO IP. They're do far better with it than Bethesda who hasn't made a great game for almost 15 years

Duke193h ago(Edited 3h ago)

I disagree. Part of these games is the support for the mod community. If they move to releasing a "next game" every 2 or 3 years, the modding support plummets and the franchises turn into just another run of the mill RPG.

Make the games good enough to withstand the test of time, to keep people coming back to them and expanding on them with mod support.

--Onilink--1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

I dont think anyone is saying they need to come out every 2 years (not to mention almost no game is released that quickly anymore)

By the time Fallout 5 comes out, it will be more than 15 years since Fallout 4 came out (same with ES6 coming out 15 years after Skyrim). Even if you want to use F76 as the metric for the most recent release, that one came out in 2018. It will be a miracle if F5 comes out before 2030

The point is that for a studio that doesnt seem to operate with multiple teams doing several projects at once, that their projects normally take 4-5 years as a minimum, and that now they even added Starfield to the rotation, it becomes a 15+ years waiting period between releases for each series, which doesnt make sense. Imagine that Nintendo only released a mainline Mario or Zelda game every 15 years…

They either need to start developing more than 1 project at a time, let someone else take a crack at one of the IPs or significantly reduce their development times

mandf1h ago

Yeah I’m going to say it, who cares about the modding community when making a game? Half the time developers only tolerate modders because they fix there game for them.

Skuletor2h ago

Yeah, let's all advocate for smaller gaps between series' releases, then we'll probably get headlines about how the series have dropped in quality and they could have benefited from more time in the oven. Let them cook.

SimpleSlave1h ago

"how the series have dropped in quality and they could have benefited from more time in the oven" So every Bethesda game then? Got it.

Listen, I would agree if this was about From Software or something, but Bethesda?

🤣

C'mon now. What timeline are you from?

isarai1h ago

Hows about you focus on quality, just a thought 🤷‍♂️

Sciurus_vulgaris1h ago

Bethesda [or Microsoft] would have to reallocate internal and external studios towards fallout and elder scrolls titles. Bethesda has the issue of developing 2 big IPs that are large RPGs on rotation. If you want more Fallout and Elder Scrolls, development will have to be outsourced.
