Newly Reported Xbox One Power Brick Issues Locking Up Consoles?

My Kinect died on me the 13th of this month. I contacted them same day, no hassles through xbox.com and received my new Kinect camera yesterday the 23rd.

They're way fast on this stuff. Ahhhhh.. feels good to have my voice commands back. I use them all the time, and it works great. (unless it's broke!)

Know how you feel man, my ps4 makes a mad grinding noise when you either put a disc in or take one out, compleatly silent when running though and the discs are fine, getting a replacment from game in the new year when they have more stock thats not preordered, did phone sony but they said as its not damaging the discs and is running normal they wont replace it either untill stocks are better :-( on the bright side I could only find one other person who has the same problem as me, he is in america so at least its not widespread.

@theburger depends on what you want from the console, both have problems here and there but none seem to be widespread, I think you were just unlucky, like me :-/

So the article was right about tbs camera sensors as well. I didn't doubt them when they said that some disk drives were defective which is normal. But I had my doubts when they claimed that they had issues with Kinects sensor.

Anyways I'm glad that Microsoft did the 180 with Kinect having to be connected to the console. And I'm glad that they fixed your problem swiftly.

My question to you is, why don't you think any Mic (headset, earbud, studio, ect) should have your voice commands?

I'm seriously just curious about why you are content with the fact that it has to be the Kinect (camera too) that enables you to VC.

At least the external power supply makes it easier to replace. Mind that both consoles ps4 and xb1 have experienced some isolated issues concerning power supply, disc drives etc. Neither has shown any mass problems yet.
I believe sony already has a 'how to'to detect if there are problems with power supply by looking at the ps4 ligth bar for the xb1 it seems like the external power supply will make noise or change collor.

People think that the Xbox One is being lynched here, but compared to 2007 and 2008 it is quite tame. The flame wars ignited by people like TheMart and Zhuk were unyielding back then. It didn't help that this was 2 bubble systems ago when it took much less effort to achieve 10 bubbles and it was a simple matter to crush the opposition to 1 bubble. I still miss my 10 bubbles that I actually earned from calm discussion. :'(

Despite the fires, I do kind of miss those days as it was sort of fun to read the clashes from the big fanboys. Nowadays there aren't too many strong characters on N4G to follow. Oh well, I am just having a nostalgia rush here...

Well a quick search on this websites show a lot of 'problems' of the PS4, so it does go both ways.

- Call of Duty PS4 frame rate issues
- Red Line of Death
- PSN downtime and hacking
- etc

(Keep in mind, i love my PS4 to death, only showing that we can be neutral ;) )

Anyway from what i can tell, it's only a small number, not even identified whats at fault so for all i know the user might have bricked it on accident lol.

Add another that remembers only too well how it was in 2007. And being a lurker at teamxbox (haha, never saw a site melt down that fast!), I was also an eye witness when RROD started being reported. That whole forum turned into a pack of sharks feeding on their own. Then, when one after another started going down with RROD, the realization swept through. Hilarious stuff. The XBO is a dud, plain and simple. Those external power bricks with a fan are just failure prone. As Sony has shown, power supply design is an art, not something done with brute force like a huge brick box with whining fan.
