Battlefield 4 hdd vs ssd load time

Is battlefield 4 or battlefield 3 taking longer then a minute to load? If you upgrade to a SSD it will bring your load time down to 30 seconds. If the performance and boot up time of your computer is your primary goal, then you should buy a solid state drive.

LackTrue4K3774d ago

will this be the only way i can finish the campaign with out resetting its self?!

kB03774d ago

Mind blowing that an SSD is faster than a HDD:P

Still, the only shocker here is that it didn't crash!

cesuf3774d ago (Edited 3774d ago )

Why is it mind blowing? There's no moving parts in them.

Clearly they were crafted from reverse engineering of alien technology at area 51.

I think he was being sarcastic :)

KwietStorm_BLM3774d ago

He wasn't being serious. And neither are you.

Are_The_MaDNess3774d ago

damn the HDD is that bad eh? got dual raid 0 corsair force 3 ssd's here myself that have 500megs readspeed each...... still think the loading time is really slow tho..... atleast comparing to other games that have heavyload.

Kleptic3774d ago (Edited 3774d ago )

There is a great SSD article on battlelog (you could probably find it in a search, i'm too lazy haha) that describes how to better set up your ssd for BF4...

BF4's client side hit detection uses a rather large cache file written to your SSD at any point that you join a server...it apparently has something to do with 'network prediction', and it bounces between your drive and system memory pretty regularly (this is also responsible for rubberbanding in some cases; its not necessarily your network, but can also be a problem with how the level loaded entirely)...

anyway, when i followed the steps for SSD setup it made a pretty big difference for me...I'm on windows 8, and hate extra utilities running, so never bothered with my magician software for an 840 pro...but enabling Rapid mode and doing some other tweaks to random writes and OS optimization was noticeable...i can load into any server within about 10 seconds now (at least from when it says 'loading level, the connection stuff takes a bit longer before hand), including the time at with the blue bar in battlelog...

you may've done that stuff already, so this was just in case...but if you're thinking bf4 loads slowly and haven't adjusted anything since you installed the game...it won't hurt anything...

Are_The_MaDNess3774d ago

thanks, didnt really think i needed to do anything for a big game like BF4...... alot of smaller games even indie games have great speeds on loads.
will check it out.

timed it around 40 sec from when the BF4.exe started, as thats when the game starts loading, or atleast should be.
thats bad in my book for 2ssd's on raid......

Kleptic3773d ago

totally agree; we shouldn't have to do a thing for a title like BF4...but for the time being it seems the community is better at tweaks to get more performance out of it than the actual updates are...

Just checked it, i can load from when the icon pops up in windows, past the loading screen, and into the deployment screen in 22 seconds...on a single samsung 840 pro 120GB...windows 8 64 bit with 8GB of G.Skill 2133mhz ram, A10 6800k cpu w/ igpu disabled, and an R9 280x toxic edition gpu...thats definitely significantly better than before i messed around with my ssd settings...

Now if i could figure out a way to guarantee the network stability doesn't go full blown dial up on me...never in my life have i played a multiplayer game reporting my own ping of less than 30...and have unplayable amounts of lag and rubberbanding out of no where...1 in 3 games for me is still out of control...and i'm on a commercial grade connection and equipment for work (i work 75% from home)...

qzp3774d ago

that's pretty much battlefield for a lot of people 2 min load time just to crash 30 seconds later.

KwietStorm_BLM3774d ago

4 definitely loads faster than 3 did, thank God, and it loads in less than half a minute on the sshd in my PS4.

Beastforlifenoob3774d ago

Im happy you replaced the PS4 hdd the default one had a horrible 5400rpm rotten egg.

KwietStorm_BLM3774d ago

Yea I never had any intention of leaving that in there.

GreenGamers3773d ago

After latest patch battlefield 4 loads even faster on the pc with my samsung ssd!

Battlefield 1, Hardline, BF4 Servers Are Being Taken Offline by Cheaters; EA Silent on Issue

Cheaters & hackers have been causing grief on Battlefield 1, Hardline & BF4 servers, with nonstop DDoS attacks among other things. Unfortunately, EA has remained silent about it.

-Foxtrot752d ago

Course they are silent, they are hoping people flock to 2042

gamesftw250751d ago

Maybe it was a inside job then haha.

jeromeface751d ago

wouldnt be the first time, titanfall 1+2 anyone?

PapaBop751d ago

Not even if they paid me.. EA always do this with old games with less money potential, if this was Ultimate Team, they'd address and sort it faster than stories could spread. Why invest time in their products when they will just dump it in the following years? Then again EA never could see the forest for the trees.

Inverno751d ago

I imagine after those games were given out for free a couple months back through Amazon, anything that makes people go to 2042 is a plus for them

XiNatsuDragnel752d ago

They want people to go on 2042. My theory

excaliburps751d ago

Nah. I think they can't do anything about it or they want to sink money into fixing it.

Pudge102888751d ago (Edited 751d ago )

EA owns all BF servers so yes, they can do something about it but they refuse to because they dont want ppl playing their old games instead of the new one. Its EA we’re talking about here

pr33k33751d ago

if this happened in 2042, they'd have something to say. which is weird, considering battlefield 1 has more players on steam right now.

Pudge102888751d ago

Its so obvious that EA is doing this or hired ppl to mess up the games so that we’d be forced to have just 1 Battlefield working.

FPS_D3TH751d ago

Honestly it’s probably the devs themselves. They did an update to bf4 way back that kinda made assault rifles doo doo in hopes that people would flock to BF1 cuz BF4 was too perfect

There's a bunch of great shooters on gamepass; both legacy and new.

A recommendation I have is a work in progress preview title called Anacrusis. It's a lot of fun, and has a cool aesthetic.

5 Games That Started Out As A Buggy Mess

KeenGamer: "Sometimes a game starts out as a buggy mess and we all just stop and think, “that definitely could have spent a bit more time in the oven”. This is the case for these 5 games which infamously marked their place in recent game memory."
