Professional Microphones Can Work With The PlayStation 4

PlayStation 4 is a next-generation console by Sony. Being officially launched now nearly worldwide, PlayStation 4 continues to sell like hot cakes. Sony re-designed the controller for the PlayStation 4, making it more futuristic type yet amazing in quality and features. You now have the option to plug in a headset with mic in the DualShock 4 to use the mic and stream audio directly from the DualShock 4.

You could also do this on PS3, you can also do this on PC. It accepts USB mics, some pro mics are USB.

I have my tritton kunai's, I plugged them in and decided to try voice commands and it worked. I was under the impression that only select headsets will work at launch?

It's news because existing bluetooth headsets are not compatible, so people with 200$ headsets they got for PS3 or Xbox360 are now left with fewer options(for now).
Some of the options available are not exposed readily by ether company, so knowing this is a big plus for at least PS4 owners.
It is still to be seen what XboxOne users can look forward to.

Another interesting thing, it can play R2 DVDs and I was able to use the DS4 with PS3 just fine (with cable) :)

does anyone know if it can take a usb audio interface that you then plug a mic into? Or does it have to be a usb mic?

I watched the video and all I saw was him using his USB "professional quality microphone". Not sure if battery powered or otherwise. I can't really give you a definitive answer, but I do know that most USB audio interfaces would probably require special drivers to run on PS4.

Well, if that's true and you are actually interested, I'll try to convey a few things.
You can record professional quality audio through preamps via USB. There are also USB mics with built in preamps(or powered or whatever) that can record audio with superb quality. Also, some USB mics have a hot enough signal so as to not really require a preamps and can do a pretty good job according to some people (pretty good to these people might mean really good or amazing to others).
Basically, USB audio doesn't necessarily, suck.
