The Xbox One Is Readily Available At Most Major Retailers

After some early morning research and reports from others within the gaming community, it appears the Xbox One is readily available at retail.

That is great for those that have not picked one up yet. I remember the fiasco of the 360 launch with people reserving consoles only to find that they had been given to the first people to walk through the door on day one.

I waited 12 hours for my 360. MS said they were going to make sure that they bumped up production to make sure their were lost of units available. Good play MS.

It's all sold out here in the UK. Amazon fudged up my delivery and I've been calling everywhere to try and get a hold of one, all sold out.

That sucks. Well I am in the other part of the Commonwealth in Atlantic Canada and there were still five left at the Walmart at 8am (they were not open at midnight). Then again there were people behind me.

I don't get to play with mine yet anyways as it is a Christmas present for my kids (don't tell anyone it is for me too).

Popped into Game after work and they don't even have a demo unit. I just wanted to see what the controller was like. I'll have no hope next week with the PS4.

Here in the US, San Diego area I can find at least 7 Targets within 30 min of me that have them in stock...

Cant be what they were thinking when they launched it. guess the demand just isn't there even on their home territory.

it's also not as desirable as the PS4. I'm sure I'll get downvoted, but if the PS4 wasn't released last week, the Xbox One would be sold out.

The question is about distribution though. I know a lot of places only received their preorder units. So there may be extras out there, but where? I guess demand will dictate whether or not it matters, I fully expect ms to implement artificial shortages though, but we'll see.

I think my local Walmart was one of those, I was there this morning and there wasn't even an XB1 section in their games area.

Best buy had about a dozen still sitting there though.

I live in MN and it wasn't that bad, although Best Buy did lest us in to walk around the store while we waited for our PS4's.

I'm sure it was the same for the X1.

It's the primary reason why I shot there for day 1 things instead of Gamestop with their tiny stores...

Also, it was like 15 degrees last night so those that wanted an X1 better have been smart enough to shop Best Buy...

I work at Gamestop and last night we had 3 available for the midnight launch.

I thought that was nuts, especially since we had 1 remaining by the end of the morning.

It'll be interesting to see what the sales numbers are for this thing.
I'm under the assumption MS was not able to manufacture as many units as Sony, and so if there are still units in stores, I don't think that bodes well.

Didn't they have like a 3rd or maybe half the preorders of the PS4? If that's the case, that's still pretty good. The PS4 is an anomaly and I doubt we'll ever see a launch like it again.

My question with the pre-orders is if something was restricting the number. Was their more supply than demand, or were there only a 3rd of the pre-orders because that's all MS could produce.

This actually lines up with the comment from Phil Spencer this morning were he was quoted as saying that Xbox One shipments are far outpacing 360 launch shipments. Didn't 360 sell 300,000+ in the first two weeks? XBO is a worldwide release too so I would be shocked if they can't get 1,000,000+

I find this strange that it's so readily available, especially considering all the reports about MS being behind in production. I'm curious if this means there simply isn't a demand for it. I mean you can't find a PS4 anywhere right now, let alone the day of launch.

This. People are talking about oversupply like they're in lala land. Thats not it. Its lack of demand. Here (that big island to the south....of everything) I dont think you can get a 4 until February at most retailers. One's on the other hand I can walk into most stores a day after launch and buy with no preorder. I know because I was and am still considering doing just that.

Everyone saying that is good does not have stock in Microsoft. Guarantee it. Its really, really terrible. It shows a complete lack of hype for their newest product. Spin it however you want, this is not good.

Wow. Just checked my local Target and they have them available. Searched other Targets in my area: 7/10 still have the Xbox One listed as being in-stock.
PS4 is sold out everywhere.

12:30pm on launch day and I can walk in to a store and buy one. Wow. This isn't looking good.

Yep. I've got a feeling that despite Xbox launching globally, they will not beat the sales of PS4 which just launched in NA.
