Xbox One Game Disc Dumped By Hackers

Videogamescene.com reports that Xbox hacker c4eva has apparently managed to dump the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts. The game has not yet hit torrent sites or other pirate channels but we’re sure it won’t be long. Of course, there is still no way to play the game on a retail console.

Actually it's hacking and THEN pirating. You can't pirate software that doesn't exist anywhere on the net for you to pirate, you first need to dump the software through hacking the copy protection in order to pirate it.

Also, if you don't like CoD why are you playing it?

Ummm... It's not hard to get past a certain coding to access game files, if you have the know-how. However, figuring out how to get a pirated copy to work on the console will take quite some time.

I'm quite certain all next-gen consoles have some pretty serious measures to combat piracy.

Are you speaking from experience, or are you just offering up useless conjecture? In my opinion, I seriously doubt either platforms' security measures will be usurped in the near future; it took years for the PS3 to finally get infiltrated, and Microsoft assuredly beefed up their security in response to the rampant and simple 360 hacking.

They recently figured out a way to make an ODE for PS3 without requiring the drive key. I am guessing they will be able to implement something similar with the PS4 in a much quicker amout of time than it took for the PS3 unless they came up with some way to combat ODEs

@Rockefellow Not if being able to copy over full "Arcade" titles to a USB drive that has been configured for Xbox One is the same as on 360.
Don't forget that when Microsoft introduced the "Install full game to your console" feature in 2008, it was instantly hacked that you didn't need the disc for the game to work. They basically handed that one to the hackers. And Xbox One games install completely to the hard drive with the added "feature" of NOT needing to connect to the Internet at all which was a huge part of their original security plan. We will have to see what happens after it is out.

Currently, you can still flash any Xbox 360 dvd drive as has been possible since many years ago. And play on Live without getting caught too.

you might just be right, the x86 architecture, mostly off the self hardware could mean that both consoles are easier to hack simply because the hardware should be very familiar to the hackers

There is a study for everything but who cares about that. I most likely buy more games than you and encourage my friends to get a lot of good games as well. If I really like a game I will buy it. I have bought gta 5, fifa 14, nba 2k14, beyond, rayman legends, and battlefield 4 in just the last 2 months. So I do my part for the gaming world.

What Piracy has led me into is - I buy way more games, I've been introduced to way more devs. For example, the Witcher 2? Pirated it. Then I bought the Enhanced edition. STALKER. Pirated. Eventually bought the first and second game. Killing Floor. Pirated. Bought. The list goes on. These devs, would never have gotten my money or my future support if I didn't get initially pirate them. The real excuse here is that you wanted something and didn't have the money to pay for it, so you justify it by saying that you'll 'buy the game later'. However, you would be in the overwhelming minority if you bought a game after having acquired the full game via pirating.

But let's say you are in this minority, this still does not justify pirating. In this day and age there are so many ways to tell if you are going to like a game before you play it, that you don't 'need' to play it before you buy it. Obviously nothing will replace first-hand experience, but it isn't necessary. There are reviews, video reviews, Let's Plays, video guides, etc. The very day that a game is released, there is so much relevant information about it that to not be educated on it is a CHOICE.

You chose not to do the simple search necessary to determine whether or not you are going to enjoy the game.

Take a Retribution: Ride to Hell. You don't need to play it to know that it is a pile of steaming dog feces. There are reviews that will tell me this. Even better, I can simply search for a video and see it is for myself.

You can throw out whatever faulty excuse you can think of for you contributing to ****ing over hard-working men and women, but when it comes down to it: people pirate games, because they don't want to pay for them.

Actually,DRM is back.

There was no disc DRM,initially.There was only server based DRM.

After 180,MS had to return to disc based DRM.More work for already overloaded OS/system design teams.

This gen wont see much hacking as others had and the reason is a simple one:
Android/IOS and better security.

You see, back in the day, consoles were the only capable hardware other than PCs that could so shit and hackers (the real ones, the one that do it for the challenge, for the fun of it) loved to open up these boxes to have some more extra courts to play ball.

These days, you just have to buy a decent droid phone/tablet and youre set...
Contrary to popular belief, the ones that open up devices dont do it for piracy or monetary gain.

And lets face it: security will only get tougher on these devices. For comparison, the first psp launched with no security at all...and ps3 only got hacked because of one function mis-implemented (i dont know about other consoles because im not interested in them)
The vita hasn't been hacked to this day (the psp emulator inside it has, which is different) so dont expect piracy to run rampant on the X1/PS4. There is just no more motivation.

I'm not terribly surprised to be honest. I suspect they were so focused on DRM being their saviour, that they didn't put loads of resources into making sure the discs were properly protected. Especially since he now sees "XG4" for Xbox Game DIsc version 4 whereas the current 360 is XGD3, this leads me to believe they just added some slightly newer security algorithm to the disc in the same vein as what they were using previously.

If someone is going to break it, it's that guy. He knows things about things.

Awesome work there NOT.. Btw steam has average of over 4 million users a day peaks to nearly 7 thats legit users and not total.
