But yeah, it is for me too. Obviously gameplay trumps all but resolution isn't something to scoff at, especially when you have a gaming PC to compare current gen consoles too.

The way the technology is going, I don't think it will take very long before all PS4 games are in 1080p (unless the developer chooses an artistic route regarding resolution).

i disagree, i think with games pushing better graphics (shaders, textures, effects..etc) later in the consoles cycle it will be harder for this consoles to hit the 1080p benchmark specially if they are also pushing high frame rates.

You do understand this game is native 1080p on both systems? Microsoft is correct, gameplay is the most important factor. Graphics are icing on the cake. Sony is now set to focus on indie titles (which Microsoft has been doing since 2005), and most of those indie titles will end up being 480p...so I guess 1080p isn't that huge after all.

Err, no. The majority of recent PC games will run happily at 1600p all the way to 4K if you have the GPUs to handle it.

1080p has largely become the minimum standard in PC gaming so it strikes me as strange that these next-gen consoles are struggling to reach even that.

from 2006 and 2013 console gamer didn't care games where not 1080p or even getting past 720p, now that the ps4 can do on some games in 1080p it's the best thing ever, nagging even about it...
