So it sounds like he got to go to the review event after all doesn't it? Unless by going to New York he meant hanging out on the sidewalk outside interviewing people as they came out. In which case maybe Adam finally got a review unit?

Fireseed3816d ago

Getting the unit wasn't his issue, it was him not wanting to have to review the game in front of Sony PR reps at the event and not being allowed to capture his own footage.

xPhearR3dx3816d ago

Not sure why the disagree's. This is exactly what he was talking about. Reviewing a next-gen console and games within a controlled environment

AgitatedOcelot3816d ago

I just read in another post Sessler got an engraved media unit like everyone else. So it looks like Sony proved that wrong and went the extra mile for all the press involved.

MidnytRain3816d ago

Fireseed

Meant to hit agree...

MadLad3816d ago (Edited 3816d ago )

@Phear

Because the new thing to do to be cool on N4G is to dislike Sessler.

xPhearR3dx3816d ago

@SlapHappyJesus

Apparently. Which is pretty sad considering Sessler is one of most down to earth unbiased guys in the gaming industry. Yet, he brings up a very legit concern that happens to be pointed towards Sony and all of a sudden N4G is in full defense mode.

Is Sessler's concern worth mentioning? Of course, for a big company to launch a new generation of hardware and say you have to come into their controlled environment to review their product, then throw free games and an engraved PS4 with your name on it. Raises some serious red flags.

I don't think the PS4 is in any trouble in terms of software or hardware, and Sony has proven their system is worthy. So why do all this? That's my question. Unless some horrible news about the PS4 breaks out here in a few days, there's no reason for Sony to not let the media outlets review and capture their own footage.

bleedsoe9mm3816d ago (Edited 3816d ago )

they called it a review event but lets get real no reviews that are coming out of it are going to be trustworthy , controlled environment , sony reps watching , no online . if ms does the same next week i'll say the same thing .
gameplay and innovation , sessler has been calling for it since the consoles were announced

come_bom3816d ago (Edited 3816d ago )

@Fireseed

Don't bother explaining. Sony fanboys are morons... actually, all fanboys are morons.

ShinMaster3816d ago (Edited 3816d ago )

But he wasn't being forced to review games based solely on his experience at the event.

Other journalists have said that despite it being called a "Review Event" it was treated mostly as a preview.

Sony wasn't trying to control reviews, ya fanboys.

Mr Pumblechook3816d ago (Edited 3816d ago )

@xPhearR3dx. Both Sony and Microsoft are holding press events for their new consoles. If Jeff Gertsman of Giant Bomb , one of the most respected journalist in the industry didn't have a problem with it why does Sessler?

Also media from all over the world including from magazines and news networks, newspapers and TV channels including the BBC didn't have a problem with writing unbiased reviews but Sessler and Fat Gamer do?!

Their problem was that Microsoft treat them like royalty and they were unhappy that Sony treated them the same as other journos. They behaved like entitled prep kids and they disgraced themselves. Sony should have banned them from the event- yet instead they gave them engraved PS4s! I used to really like Sessler but his bias attitude has showed him to be the shill that he is.

HighResHero3816d ago

Is this the one where everyone forgets about last week?

BX813816d ago

Forget about what? I forget.

C-H-E-F3816d ago (Edited 3816d ago )

This is the one where I say to myself, psssssh because you act like last week didn't happen doesn't mean it did happen. Def. on my bad side, it's a shame I used to enjoy Sessler weird, loud talking, stuttering, exciting, gamer-centric self hmph OH WELL, there will be another.

HighResHero3816d ago (Edited 3816d ago )

I could easily forget about last week if he genuinely tries to be more unbiased.
If not, I would settle for a little more transparency considering his words influence people's decisions, even if he doesn't realize it.

MidnytRain3816d ago

The alternative is ignoring a decent reviewer. Not like we need more of that around here.

AgitatedOcelot3816d ago (Edited 3816d ago )

I dunno. I think I'm going to wait and see what he says now that he apparently has a review unit, before completely indicting the guy.

Yeah his comments on the resolution issue don't sit well with me. But it sounds like Sony really went out of their way to treat the press very well at the New York event. He can have a chance to redeem himself for the resolutiongate video if he's going to do some fair unbiased reporting on the PS3 event this week.

If not, The gaming public is not going to be merciful so I say wait and see.

HighResHero3816d ago (Edited 3816d ago )

I can forgive him I'm not sure if I will ever completely trust him. That last part goes for many reviewers regardless of how popular they are.
Veiled fanboyism is also kinda insulting to our intelligence as well and can be annoying. We'll see how this works out maybe some of it was a misunderstanding ;)

God, I hate a beard without a mustache.

NegativeCreep4273816d ago (Edited 3816d ago )

After looking at the above screen capture, is it just me or does Adam Sessler have a real big f'n head? His head is about as long as his shoulders.

With that beard he kind of looks like a cross-breed between Mini Me and Gollum.

_FantasmA_3816d ago

I want to just punch him the face. I'm a pacifist, but this guys needs a backhand or something to put him in his place.

RiPPn3816d ago

He looks Amish, just give him one of those Amish hats and some farming clothing.

TMNT Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants review - Games Asylum

Games Asylum: "Well, this is neat. As the name suggests, Wrath of the Mutants is the rarest of things – a genuine arcade conversion. With most modern arcade games being ticket redemption machines, this is something seldom seen. In fact, the last arcade conversion we can recall was Raw Thrill’s own Cruis’n’ Blast on Switch back in 2021. This is also based on an older iteration of TMNT, harking back to the series from 2012-2017. It’s essentially breaking franchise continuity (we’ve had two different iterations of the Turtles since) and could even be considered nostalgic for a select few – those who grew up with 2012’s Turtles are probably in their late teens."
