Tell you what Mr Magoo. I actually run two shows for two different sites. DJ is my site, where we focus on Xbox, its our preference there. AAG is the other site I work for and produce their show for. We are multi plat there. We love gaming and we love all systems, some of our preferences are XBox, some are Nintendo, some are Sony, we are diverse and cover all consoles.

Nice of you to share such a disrespectful opinion. The whole debate is not about winning a game at numbers mate, pixels comparisons and resolution suck. Even go an watch the Angry gamers latest video. Gaming is something we should all enjoy and not try and convince others of what to get.

I'm calling you out Mr Magoo. If you got Skype and a headset, lets have you on the show and lets hear your side of the story. Lets put you on the air. We do it all the time with our guests, happy to have you on for a professional and proper discussion on these topics.

You can call him out all you like but you are opening up yourself to ridicule with a title like this. We all know the PS4 is more powerful(Microsoft acknowledged this straight after E3 when they started playing the software game over the power game. Hell the only power game they played was the cloud power game which soon faded out of the PR strategy).

It is a pet peeve of mine to just have a blatantly wrong title (which is what you have done). Better titles could be "does it matter", "it's always been about games not power"..... because they better reflect what is actually going on not X is as powerful as Y because it isn't

Just touch on one aspect, pixel counting itself IS ridiculous, but TWICE the number of pixels is no small thing, not to mention what it implies overall about the possibilities with future titles. If one cannot see that far into the future, it's very shortsighted.

And it isnt simply gamers, the developers and very nearly every other credible source is indicating the same thing. I am not saying anyone should NOT enjoy one console over another, but rather, why ignore facts? It shouldn't be a slight against anyone because one console performs differently than another, but it really tends to sound that way when certain aspects are so obviously downplayed, as if some personal offense has been taken and must then be defended against.

Games like COD ran at higher resolution on 360 than PS3. We didn't have all this constant damage control over it. Instead of downplaying the facts, come to terms with them and continue liking whichever console it is you like.

You said DJ was Xbox focused and AAG was multiplatform, yet both of these podcasts seem Xbox focused. Talk about obvious bias.

You're misinformed, outstretching the image doesn't magically create new pixels, it stretches it to fill in those empty pixels on your monitor.

Why do you keep agreeing with the benefit of outputting an image natively and then saying it's the same thing as upscaled.

That's the problem with Xbox fanboys, they see fact and find ways to downplay it.

Why do people downplay the difference between 1080p and 720p. It's clear that the PS4 has a lot more power than the X1. At the moment the extra power is used to produce more pixels, that same spare power could be used in difference areas.

Say if a developer decides to make the game 720p and use that extra power instead for things like for more characters on screen, better particle effects etc.

My point is that while the extra power is being used for something like extra pixels, once the developers gets to grip with the hardware it could be used for things that directly improve gameplay and used more effectively to make games look better.

@Paul I haven't listened to your podcast but if you use a title like that you have to expect heat.

Well said on both fronts Mystic but the latter deserved applause.

Seriously some of you guys need to just stop. You want an X1 over a PS4? That's great. Enjoy. Have a blast. Just don't make nonsensical post trying to downplay the differences in direction, approach and most of all power between the PS4 and X1.

Once again MS chases after a different audience while Sony is focusing on their consumers that have been with them from jump.

This is new 4 gamers. Gaming should come 1st and that is exactly what Sony is doing. Oh but get this. Sony will offer most of the same features the X1 will have to offer but at a lower price point and more power. Explain why you want an X1 over the PS4.

Please don't tell me exclusives. At least Sony has common enough sense to allow their devs all the time they want to finish their product instead of rushing it out the door. If you can't see the Ryse, KI, DR3 and Forza 5 would've all been better served with more time in development you have to be blind or in denial.

I honestly believe MS had no plans of releasing the X1 this calendar year. Everything from their policies, restrictions, flip flops, discombobulated messaging, PR and line up of games points to "WE ARE NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME!"

And just to note, this is not a nod in either direction, but 1080p is quite literally TWICE the number (natively) of pixels, i.e. twice the picture clarity, of 720p (native).

There is a difference but how much of a difference is the real question. But so far the massive difference between some title in terms of resolution hints at the PS4 being more powerful than the Xbox One and its DGPU set up.

I just don't see how you can legitimately say 1.3tflops is the same as 1.8 tflops. There is no architectural barrier this time like there was with ps3.Meaning while ps4 power is theoretical, xbox1 power is just as theoretical.

The title implies they are as powerful as eachother. Did I specify pixels? No, did I specify frame rate? No. The manor we were discussing these was all around balance, how all the components and experience works together. We feel that both are as powerful as each other in that regard. I have gone on record officially to say the PS4 has MORE brute technical power, GDDR5 is faster than GDDR3, we accept that, this is not something were ignoring from a technical point. The point of the discussion is to discuss all things that make a console great. Hence why, the excel in each of their own areas. Also, our objective is to discuss these news stories, not recruit people to camp MS. Our opinion is to buy all if you can and enjoy what all systems have to offer. Its what I did this gen, and what I'll do next gen too, just not all on day 1 lol cause I aint super rich.

I find it very easy to believe you aren't rich with podcast quality such as this, maybe try not being so biased and you will get more viewers which in turn will equal more money, people want and need more honest reviewers not biased people such as you make your self seem. Trust me, I've produced over 150 shows for many years and have a very large audience. This is just one of the many places we advertise the show and let me say no matter how objective you are, you get flamed by the SDF every week. Heck I even reviewed Beyond Two Souls last week and got flamed by Sony fans because I praised the game! What a joke. I learnt long ago you'll never please everyone so your best to do what you love and those who share the same opinion as you will support you and those who dont, will I guess simply move on. I cant hide my love for Xbox, its a great system. People forget that I also game on my PS3 & Wii U too, but if you say this PS3 game is good the xbox guys crack up here. If I say the Xbox games are good, the SDF loose the plot and if you mention anything about the Wii U in a positive way both the SDF and MS crew crack up. You cannot win. I understand your point Flutterby but unfortunately its not the case. People just look at the title and go spastic with comments. The titled is designed to entice people to listen. Thats it. Our show and all the other news, hard written reviews etc get no love and people just wanna flex their opinion on whats better. If anyone actually bothered to listen, we do say that people should get what makes them happy and play for the games, not the power. If your buying a console simply cause its got more power, you have no idea about gaming. There is so much more involved that pixels and resolution. The games interface, the dashboard, the online service, your friends, etc, the franchises you love are all valid reasons we try and tell people should influence their decisions.

Unfortunately everyone is missing that and its a damm shame. I cant wait till launch happens and is over, finally then we can get back to real gaming and all those other great things about the next generation. At least Im hopin...

That doesn't mean anything, Adam Sessler has done journalism since 1998 and look what happened to him and what he did. He blew up rumors like they were true, contradicted himself, and had hidden bias before he got fired from G4.

You obviously don't know what gaming is. The dashboard and online services weren't available over a decade ago. A clean interface doesn't make a game, the visuals, physics, and gameplay do. A game can have the ugliest interface you ever seen, even no interface/HUD at all like Resident Evil and still be a great game. Something tells me you started gaming when the 360 came out, because all that stuff you mentioned are extras and not part of the core experience.

How ironic. You basically just described a fanboy. That basically makes you a hypocrite, does it not? I mean, it's obvious you despise Microsoft. Honestly, who isn't a little biased here? It's okay to have preferences and opinions, so long as you're objective about them. I mainly game on the 360 because my friends are on there, but I still enjoy my PS3. Hell, I'm currently playing Onimusha on PS2.

Remember when all the Sony fanboys waved their banners, spouting how powerful the PS3 was over the Xbox 360? And yet most multiplats ended up being better on the 360. Then they stopped playing the power card because it didn't suit their argument anymore. PC games have supported higher resolutions than consoles for as long as I can remember, but the fanboys conveniently ignore that fact. It only matters now to suit your childish arguments again.

Man, I'm old enough to remember the Nintendo vs. Sega flame wars. Fanboys never change. It's the blind leading the blind. People need to shut up and play their games. Your opinions aren't going to change mine (and I say this as a person who's getting the PS4 first).

Thing is though Paul, greater power doesn't just equal prettier visuals. That's just one aspect of it.

The consoles are just a tool for the developers to create their visions. The more powerful the tool (console) the less restricted and more creative the developers can be. And the more creative the developers can be, the bigger and more complex game worlds and engines can be.

In short, greater power equals potential for better gameplay. It's a very simple and basic concept I'm learning about in my games course at uni.

Unfortunately this isn't going to show in multiplats. We'll get the same gameplay on the PS4, albeit just with better visuals.

But this will definitely show in exclusives. It's already showing in KZ and infamous. And just wait until Naughty Dog show their next game.

In no way, shape or form is the xbone just as powerful as the PS4. Not from a visual standpoint, not from a gameplay standpoint and not from a balance standpoint.

Does the xbone have advantages over the PS4? Absolutely. But I heavily prioritize games over apps and features, and apart from dedicated servers, the PS4 beats the xbone in every area to do with games.

I get what your saying jessupj and not disagreeing. Its a balancing act for each console, right now, Sony's got the biggest engine, but how will it handle round corners and online etc? XB has advantages and so does Sony, absolutely. I guess its just which ones people put the most stock into that will drive their decision.

XB1 with correct use of ESRAM and Forza 5 is 1080p/60fps. Sure people say oh its one game, but its one game done right. End of the day devs make the call and hopefully we see devs catch up accross the board. I have no doubt in 12 months Xbox games will all reach this standard of 1080p native but it will take time.

Will it affect my decision, of course not. I plan to get both anyway, but I sure hope people see the other value in MS's XB1 as well, if not, what can we do. I said before, not here to convert people, just here to say what I enjoy and wanna game on. Thats XB1 for me for many reasons.

A 12 CUs GPU will never beat an 18 CUs GPU built on the same architecture. This is just silly. XB1 HW doesn't offer a single comparable aspect that would make it match the PS4 in any way. That's why all the multiplat launch titles run and look better on the PS4.

XB1 can't even do ALU without trading visual quality for performance because it only has 12 CUs. And ALU is very important because these consoles have extremely weak CPUs that need to be patched by the GPU's GPGPU. And 4 of the 18 CUs on the PS4 are dedicated to just that while having 2 more CUs (14) for render over the XB1's.

If we were talking about balance then it's obvious that the PS4's hardware is much better balanced.
