Battlefield 4 on Amiga 500 - Simulation

How does it look like if you take Battlefield 4 and strap the specs down so that you can meet Amiga 500 requirements like 640 x 256 pixels, 16 colors, 12 frames per second? A recently released video tries to show the outcome

LOL, if something like this was launched back then, the amiga would have been the most sucessful console ever

KonsoruMasuta3816d ago

Compared to other games out at the time, games for the Amiga miles ahead in visuals.

On another note, this video kind of makes this games look like a movie. Characters look like real people.

RevXM3816d ago (Edited 3816d ago )

No it wouldn't because the amiga wasn't a console lol.
they were non x86 computers with a pretty awesome OS and some if not all had some sort of special analog audio component.

Ju3816d ago

CD32 says Hi! (Given, it was a gen after the 500)

Mister_Dawg3816d ago (Edited 3816d ago )

What analogue audio component do you speak of?
I had the Amiga500 Batman pack, and it was always playing sound straight from the tv. I don't remember any special audio.
Are you confusing it with the Atari ST, which was a firm favourite with musicians of the time?

Ah yeah @Ju, the CD32 was pure balls man. It was a shit cousin to the swansong A1200. I almost bought the A1200, but then went for a brand new Aiwa hifi setup. Think I made the right choice at the time. Commodore went tits up the following year.

RevXM3815d ago (Edited 3815d ago )

@Mister_Dawg
The Amiga's had a powerful software driven Audio converter chip. DAC of sorts, the sound resolutions and amount of channels alone were impressive, better than most. The whole amiga system was so well thought out and so advanced that it just is a shame that they died out, they were and Im sure could have been something special today.

I have an A1200 up on my shelf, dont think it is compatible with any of my monitors today, but I recently turned it on and with all the glorious lights and sounds I remember from my childhood as the floppy drive station tries to read, and so on. Just cant let it go, one day Ill have a screen that it will work with.

Funny how my brother never invested in a HDD for that thing, not as far as I remember at least.
Did swap a lot of discs back then when playing, Lemmings, syndicate, Simon the sorcerer, superfrog and Monkey island. Oh and that Jurassic park game was terrifying as hell, Ive must have been like 3-4 years old when I played it the first time.

Thegamer413816d ago

Looks a little better than the Xbox One version, this must be 900p+.
Im kiding, just had to be said xD

3-4-53816d ago

Perfect example as to why art style matters more than realistic graphics.

mixelon3816d ago

Woah! Screw the next gen, im just going to get out the old A1200!

Seriously this is the most random thing i've seen in ages. The Amiga stuggled with fps sadly.. Probably a pretty big factor in its gaming demise.

Alien Breed 3D (the first one) was anazing though. I wish someone would do an hd remake of that.

mcstorm3816d ago

I miss the Amiga days had a 500 and then a 1200 after that. The power of these PC's back then was amazing and games like super stardust still look amazing today. I still have the Amiga CD32 at home and comes out every now and again when my dad comes round for some retro fun.

Mister_Dawg3816d ago

My best gaming memories are of the Amiga 500.
First game I played on mine, christmas day in the eighties, was New Zealand Story. It looked unbelievable at the time.
Those days are long gone unfortunately, replaced by constant bitching about resolution and frame rates.

mcstorm3816d ago

I agree I find it kind of funny the way the gaming world has turned onto a but mine is better than yours ect.

Gaming for me is all about fun and an enjoyable game bests the best sell and best looking game hands down. I have a bunch of games on my Amiga 32 that are just fun to play even 20 plus years on from when they were released. Super stardust, sensible soccer, micro machines, super skid marks 2, the chaos engine are just a few of the timeless classics the console had.

Mister_Dawg3816d ago

Wish I hadn't sold my A500 all those years ago.
Emulating it on the pc, just doesn't feel the same.

mcstorm3816d ago

Defoe not the same but have a look on eBay for a 1200 or cd32 they both have 500 as well as the 32bit games and you can grab them at a low price. I still wonder what gaming would of been like if they had not gone bust as the cd32 was way a head of its time in what it could do.

evilsooty3816d ago

The Work Bench screen brings back memories :)

The Amiga 500 got me into gaming with Worms, Civilization and Settlers 20 years ago. It's crazy that I'm still playing Civ and the Settlers now! Not Worms anyway as Team 17 went to shit since the creator of Worms left.

Mister_Dawg3816d ago

Shadow of the Beast.

That was the graphical biatch of the time.
Awesome tunes too.

Battlefield 1, Hardline, BF4 Servers Are Being Taken Offline by Cheaters; EA Silent on Issue

Cheaters & hackers have been causing grief on Battlefield 1, Hardline & BF4 servers, with nonstop DDoS attacks among other things. Unfortunately, EA has remained silent about it.

-Foxtrot753d ago

Course they are silent, they are hoping people flock to 2042

gamesftw250752d ago

Maybe it was a inside job then haha.

jeromeface751d ago

wouldnt be the first time, titanfall 1+2 anyone?

PapaBop752d ago

Not even if they paid me.. EA always do this with old games with less money potential, if this was Ultimate Team, they'd address and sort it faster than stories could spread. Why invest time in their products when they will just dump it in the following years? Then again EA never could see the forest for the trees.

Inverno752d ago

I imagine after those games were given out for free a couple months back through Amazon, anything that makes people go to 2042 is a plus for them

XiNatsuDragnel753d ago

They want people to go on 2042. My theory

excaliburps752d ago

Nah. I think they can't do anything about it or they want to sink money into fixing it.

Pudge102888752d ago (Edited 752d ago )

EA owns all BF servers so yes, they can do something about it but they refuse to because they dont want ppl playing their old games instead of the new one. Its EA we’re talking about here

pr33k33752d ago

if this happened in 2042, they'd have something to say. which is weird, considering battlefield 1 has more players on steam right now.

Pudge102888752d ago

Its so obvious that EA is doing this or hired ppl to mess up the games so that we’d be forced to have just 1 Battlefield working.

FPS_D3TH752d ago

Honestly it’s probably the devs themselves. They did an update to bf4 way back that kinda made assault rifles doo doo in hopes that people would flock to BF1 cuz BF4 was too perfect

There's a bunch of great shooters on gamepass; both legacy and new.

A recommendation I have is a work in progress preview title called Anacrusis. It's a lot of fun, and has a cool aesthetic.

5 Games That Started Out As A Buggy Mess

KeenGamer: "Sometimes a game starts out as a buggy mess and we all just stop and think, “that definitely could have spent a bit more time in the oven”. This is the case for these 5 games which infamously marked their place in recent game memory."
