Plug&Play would be awesome, finally I can delete that annoying MotionJoy stuff.

decrypt3820d ago

Dont think it will be plug and play, but anyways motion joy isnt that bad.

ZodTheRipper3820d ago

You have no idea :D
It killed my wireless Logitech Mouse&Keyboard and I had to delete everything including all registry entries to get rid of it. Also, it's full of ads and spam since a couple of updates so I really hope I don't have to #dealwithit anymore.

svoulis3820d ago

It also breaks games like DMC and others that support controllers. I had an issue with 6 titles in my library, only solution, get rid of motionjoy and all traces in registry and drivers.

DonMingos3820d ago

there is a better option than motion joy. search for "better ds3"

FamilyGuy3820d ago

It's already been confirmed as plug and play for most of its functions. There's videos all over the place and tons of people have DS4 controllers already. You can literally just walk in to walmart, best buy or game stop and buy one early if they have the stock in.

USe better ds3, it uses motionjoys drivers but doesn't require pinging their servers to work.

LAWSON723820d ago

IT is plug and play but only with games that support DirectInput and not many do . You will need to use something like x360ce to make new xinput.dll to use it with xinput games.

akiraburn3820d ago

Yeah, I'd have to definitely agree with what Drummerdude41 said. If you want to use your DS3 with PC until a proper tool is released for very reliable use of the DS4, there's no better option than Better DS3 Tool. I only learned about it relatively recently, but I can't recommend it enough. The app is rather lightweight, taking on average 20 to 30MB of RAM to run, which is great because from what I've seen the original DS3 Tool can be using upwards of 200+ MB, while friends have reported it taking over 1GB for them sometimes.

Additionally, this new tool doesn't require you to be connected to the net to use. With the original DS3 Tool, it was learned that there is some serious security concerns regarding how and where it connects to, and if you weren't connected your analogue sticks would not function.

Anyway, if you're interested in using it, this is the link for the Better DS3 Tool: http://betterds3.ciebiera.n...

Even though I won't be using my DS3 in the near future you've earned your helpful bubble, thanks :)

This is where MS succeeds.

DS4 Contoller is all kinds of awesome. It's weighted so well and it makes it so very comfortable to hold. Being the way the hands are shaped when you hold the controller your thumbs rest perfectly on the analogs and there new design cradles your thumbs. It is such an upgrade over DS3.

ZodTheRipper3820d ago

I agree, I hope the Dualshock 5 will stay mostly the same with small improvements, the DS4 is like a dream <3

madara0sama3820d ago

Got my controller yesterday and I gotta agree. Just have to get use the trigger buttons. It just feels so much more relaxing and expensive hehe.

WeAreLegion3820d ago

I got it working fine on emulators, as long as I don't assign the right analog stick to any buttons. It acts like the right stick is always moving. :/

I can't get it to work for anything on Steam though. Or Minecraft.

akiraburn3820d ago

Hey man, a buddy of mine linked me to this, and so far it has been quite helpful in getting games to work on PC with the DS4. It's a little extra time and effort since you have to set it for each game, but it seems to be the most worthwhile fix until someone releases a proper tool for getting it to work universally for all controller supported games.

Hope that helps.

AlexanderNevermind3820d ago (Edited 3820d ago )

Thumbs up from me. It is a very good fix for the time being. So far I got Skyrim, Dark Souls and a couple other games working with the DS4 thanks this.

@ WeAreLegion,

It works for steam games that are Xbox controller compatible.

WeAreLegion3820d ago

Thanks! I really appreciate the help. I'll try that when I get off work. :) Bubble for helpful.

Gster3819d ago

@Alexender
Hi, did you get the vibration/rumble to work using this method? Tnx

AlexanderNevermind3819d ago (Edited 3819d ago )

@Gster,

No I'm pretty sure rumble wasn't working. I gave Dark Souls the most time (played about 5 minutes). I only tried the fix last night so really didn't have much time to play.

Gster3819d ago (Edited 3819d ago )

Ah ok, thanks A N,
I hope sony create drivers soon, would be great to have the ds4 almost fully compatible with pc. Just curious, I'm only gettin into pc now, has the vibration function worked on the xb360 controllers with pc. If it does, do you reckon the ds4 would be able to aswell?

Can only imagine the amount of sales Sony would make on an almost fully compatible ds4 with pc. It seems such a great all round controller that I think many pc gamers would pick one up rite away. That would generate huge sales Sony, so it wouldn't suprise me if they announced support for ds4 on pc. Well I really hope so anyway.
Tnx again Alexander

No offense to the author, but this is OLD news. Does N4G not double check previously published articles? All I see lately is the same stories rehashed somehow. I thought this article was an update on the previous one and its not :(

MASTER_RAIDEN3820d ago

best news ever. and in case youre wondering, im pretty sure this hadnt actually been confirmed until recently. i cant wait to be able to use my controller on steam and finally be able to get rid of the 360 controller for windows. 1 controller on like 5 or 6 different platforms. sony just got the dualshock 4 all right.

Bethesda Needs to Reduce the Gaps Between New Fallout and Elder Scrolls Releases

Waiting a decade for new instalments in franchises as massive as Fallout and Elder Scrolls feels like a waste.

Microsoft have Obsidian but I feel it's Bethesda who just don't want to play ball as they've always said they want to do it themselves.

Once MS bought Zenimax in 2020 they should have put the Outer Worlds 2 on the back burner, allow Bethesda to finish off its own Space RPG with Starfield (despite totally different tone why have two in your first party portfolio with two developers who's gameplay is a tad similar) and got Obsidian for one of their projects to make a spiritual successor to New Vegas.

When the Elder Scrolls VI is finished Bethesda can then onto the main numbered Fallout 5 themselves.

The Outer Worlds 2 started development in 2019 so putting it on the back burner wouldn't have been the end of the world, they'd have always come back to it once Fallout was done and it would have been nicely spaced out from Starfields release once they had most likely stopped supporting it and all the expansions were released.

If they did this back in 2020 when they bought Zenimax and the game had a good, steady 4 - 5 years development, you might have seen it release in 2025.

We are literally going to be waiting until 2030 at the very earliest for Fallout 5 and all they seem bothered about is pushing Fallout 76.

RaidenBlack3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Its not just only Todd not playing ball.
Obsidian have made a name for themselves in delivering stellar RPGs, but most famous once have always been sequels/spin-offs to borrowed IPs like KOTOR 2, Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Stick of Truth etc.
Obsidian wants to invest more in their own original IPs like Outer Worlds or Pillars of Eternity with Avowed.
Similar to what Bluepoint & inXile wants to do or Kojima is doing (i.e not involving anymore in Konami's IPs).
So yea, even if New Vegas has the most votes from 3D Fallout fans, Obsidian just wants to do their own thing, like any aspiring dev studio and MS is likely currently respecting that.
But a future Fallout game from Obsidian will surely happen. Founder Feargus Urquhart has already stated an year ago that they're eager to make a new Fallout game with Bethesda, New Vegas 2 or otherwise. Urquhart was the director of the very first 1995's Fallout game after all.
And don't forget Brian Fargo and his studio inXile, as Brian Fargo was the director of Fallout's 1988 predecessor: Wasteland
