Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Confirmed To Be A Separate Release, Out Next Spring

Konami have confirmed that Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will act as a prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and it will be released in Spring 2014 across current and next generation systems.

Damn! milking already begining on the MGS franchise, my last hope for the Ground Zeros to be a prologue on the same disc than Phantom Pain like the Solid mission on the tanker on MGS2 has just been killed, :(

If I recall correctly Kojima had trouble fitting MGS4 on a single Blu-Ray. Now that MGSV will be 1080p and open world he might need 2 Blu-Ray Discs to fit the whole game. Maybe that's why he decided to make two separate games out of it. I just hope that both of them will have enough value to justify a seperate release.

I assumed it was 1 game and the early chapters were just the prologue. Sorta like Virtuous Mission and Snake Eater for Metal Gear Solid 3.

This say it all: Ground Zeroes consists of one mission - a Cuban rescue mission - that has been extensively demoed this year, including at Tokyo Game Show in September. It will be out on PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 next Spring. In the UK it will cost £19.99 on the older platforms and £29.99 on PS4 and Xbox One. In the US, it's considerably cheaper at $19.99/$29.99 respectively.

As long as Phantom Pain is $40 this is okay, but if they try to pass it off for $60 while this is $20, then that's a problem.

How is it a problem?. They are two separate experiences and I guerantee that GZ will be a relatively big game for 20 or 30 dollars kind of like an expansion pack for a game. It is the prologue chapter but will be much bigger than simply a chapter in the way they were applied in earlier MGS games. It will comprise of several missions Im willing to bet.

And like solid_snake3656 said, i hope MGS doesn't have the same fate like RE series. My memory still fresh when Capcom made Lost in Nightmare & Desperate Escape as DLC. But some leaked show those story already in the disc :/

So now they're selling chapters of the game and for some odd reason the next gen versions are digital only. Not sure if Kojima has any power to make this decision but if he did... Wtf man?

Just imagine MGS3 being sold this way, you pay for the short portion of the game, right until the point you meet Sokolov and after that you pay for the rest of the game. If part of the game is 30$ then the remaining better be another 30$ at most and not 60$. Or else MGSV is pretty much 90$. Wtf is going on with Konami and Kojima? Is my favorite game series being ruined?

Initially I thought 'Fuck No, Kojima San'. But, thinking it over, this means getting some new MGS sooner than what would have been. And, it hopefully means each part of the release will be fleshed out more because of being seperated.
I am still cautious, but willing to embrace this staggered release.
Incidently, I am one of the mugs who purchased MGS 2 Substance, after completing and still owning Sons of Liberty about 7 times...... and the PSP graphic novel of MGS1......... and AC!D 1 and 2, ect ect.
But times have changed. I avoided Raidens gay game. I will be alert to the value of MGS 5!!
