Microsoft really needs to get in front of this situation. I said it before, but this is simply something they cannot let stand. Which console will be the lead for multiplatform games is a big deal to a lot of people, especially games with multiplayer.

An embargo is basically a ban, nothing reviewed before the end of the embargo.

Thing is, if this is true and ALL the other versions are to be reviewed at the same time except the Xbox one version despite the fact the game isn't out til later on PS4 as well, that screams of PR managing bad news doesn't it?

The very act of isolating and delaying news of the Xbox one version shouts it from the rooftops they are attempting to protect that one version for some particular reason.

Kind of like how Microsoft pays for third party exclusives so that Sony does not get the game (even if timed), rather than investing money in more in house titles? Curious to know if it is a big difference and the rumors are true are you (along with anyone else) going to switch for the better console? You have to remember that this is the beginning of a 7 to 10 year generation and the gap will probably widen if true.

900p/30 and 720/60 are pretty similar in terms of horsepower needed. Ryse went for graphics over framerate.

Also Ryse has been in development since 2010. So it's an exclusive title that has a much larger development timeframe.

It's not like CoD, where they need to pump out 5 or more versions every year. Ryse is one version in basically four years.

CoD is a bit wasteful with resources and BF4 can produce better visuals with less power taken up.

Despite all the disadvantages inherent with an Xbox One game, BF4 on Xbox 1 will almost assuredly look better then CoD:Ghosts on PS4.

That ESRAM is going to be hell for smaller devs and aspirational indies. I bet even bigger devs are going to have problems with it. But it no doubt will get better as time goes on. But so will the PS4.

The game engines are now scalable, dice have said this about frostbite since they 1st introduced it as far as I'm aware, most modern day game engines are this way, they scale to the power that's available to them.

Never have I been witness to this level of nastiness, and aggressive negativity with any other generation launch. I remember it a little with the PS3 vs XB360 back in the day, but I also remember the vast majority of people would shut down the bitter trolls and they were either ostracised or simply ignored my the general majority.

I am getting a PS4, because I have always gotten a PS every gen since the PS1. Not because I'm a SONY "fanboy" but because I'v always had more fun on my PS's and they've always been my primary gaming platform. The thing to remember is that I also always ended up getting the other consoles a year or two after launch anyway. I mean why not. No matter the console, there are always great exclusive that make it a worthwhile purchase.

I have owned every Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft consoles since the original PS1. And I fully intend on getting a XBOX1 too.

Even if the PS4 was the weaker machine this gen I would still get it over the XBOX1 because I want to. I could tell you my reasons why, but the fact that I "choose to" should be reason enough.

Seeing posts like yours and the other guys above keeps my faith in gamers, being a gamer when I was a kid was a bit of a geek thing, I to had the wood veneer Atari 2600, but gamers always got along with each other, if you asked someone what system they had and it was weaker or different to theirs people didn't look down on them and tell them how shit they was for having such system, the answer usually was " oh I wanted to play x game is it any good" as it wasn't on the system they owned.

I am going to be unbiased in this comment because I believe that each new console faces some problems of it's own. Now it's not unusual for a company to place an embargo on certain products. Just earlier this month, AMD had to suspend the beast, the R9 290x all in effort to see what Nvidia's lineup would offer.

The same could be said with this product. First off I don't listen to public relations and journalists in general. Because really they know as much as *YOU DO* to begin with. Never and I say never read a one sided story. Get the whole story and stick with it especially if they happen to work for the company. If multiple valid website's confirm it, then it's probably accurate. Not saying it's 100% accurate but along those percentage's.

So in this case I will believe this embargo is in place due to the resolution of both next-gen versions of Battlefield 4. Why? Because it's simple.

A: Microsoft paid EA DICE for this exclusive next-gen game for millions. Aka the television advertisement that has 360 and Xbox One logo at the end of the promo for BF4.

B: They want it to sell like COD on Xbox One but with exclusive DLC (Timed)

C: EA believed that Xbox One would be the powerhouse for next-gen consoles when they made the deal with Microsoft. Again EA DICE took a gamble and now you can understand what the fuss is all about.

D: EA DICE needs to make sure the game is graphically better than the PS4 in some way so people will ultimately choose the Xbox One version over the PS4 version. It's most likely in the agreement between the two companies.

In concluding, I'm not surprised by this move on Microsoft's part making EA DICE place an embargo on the game itself. I think it's time for people to realize that the face of gaming is about to change when it comes to third party exclusive deals with next-gen companies.

Hence why I believe and still believe that what ever happens leading up to the release of these games. A lot of expectations will end up in failure and some successes will be taken from these next-gen games going forward.

I hope the Sony Defence Forces realizes that they have absolutely doubled-down on the hype at this point.

Essentially, the hypothesis is that x-bone has frigged up their third party titles really bad and that the run at lower rez that Sony versions.

If this is confirmed true, then it would be a 100% reversal from what's happened in the last gen.

Why exactly is this happening, is it Kinect or are they reporting too much cpU cycles of data to the NSA ?

If M$ comes out strong and whoops Sony on framerate and graphics the Sony Defense Forces will have to eat mega amounts of crow.

Face it. The PS4 and Xbone are both less than impressive. Should have spent a little more and got some better hardware. I would have paid 50-100 dollars more for a system that can easily do 1080 60FPS.

Awesome news as my TV is 720p. Hope I can set the Xbox to output 720p so my TV doesnt have to downscale the Xbox's upscaled 1080p. Anybody know or will it only output 1080p
