Game Tangents commentary discusses 3 reasons why the initial sales data for new video game consoles aren't accurate at predicting future success. (Xbox One, PS4)
The Nerd Stash: “The letter scene in Grandia is a magnificent, layered early example of the game's wonderful NPC interactions, and a real tear-jerker.”
A third game in the Falconeer series has been announced as the second, Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles, launches.
While there’s a lot to love about modern video games, there is one trend — particularly in the AAA space — that tends to grate: their length.
Games are coming out with too much fluff and side activities that are horribly dull. That's my main issue with all these open world games. Open world should be about exploration, discovery and wonder, not have some stupid 10s or 100s of boring activities spread throughout.
I stopped buying overfluffed games like a decade ago. Cant stand games with the Ubisoft mindset of just filling maps with uselss collectibles and fodder. Make it mean something. Ill gladly take 1/4 size of the map and 1/10th the "content" if it all meant more, were more unique and greater affect on your progression.
Well people complained like the world was ending when a few games were six to ten hours of gameplay. Developers listened and started making longer games full of repetitive gameplay, time wasting fetch quest and other forms of bloat. In doing so they were able to justify the high cost of a game being sold to the customers at seventy dollars or more.
Filler, it's like a 80 episodes show where only the first and last episodes actually matter
Seems like websites are going to extreme lengths to offer their "critical insight" into the next gen. There's just nothing to talk about so we get these vapid, ridiculously obvious posts.
It doesn't matter because sony is leading the pack. lol
DC as example unfortunately suffered from not being able to compete with the amount of games the competition got for their console. Something the Wii U is struggling with as well. The PS4 and Xbone will be the go to consoles for Publishers and Developers to release all of their future games on. There won`t be any bigger game not coming to those two consoles unlike what we see with the Wii U, where this year games like Tomb Raider, Bioshock and GTA 5 have been absent from. Nintendo would be completely lost without their 1st party games that roll out relatively slow due to the smaller amount of teams they have. Sony and MS have a far healthier mix of 1st party games and 3rd party games.
If those two consoles would fail (not going to happen) many Publishers and developers would close because they need. The Wii U is a different case because the majority didn`t need Nintendo for a very long time now as it`s been ages since 3rd parties did well on their consoles and that`s not where their audience is and PC only sales wouldn`t cut it in most cases.
Didn't the Wii u sell out at launch? Then struggled to sell every unit after that..
Nobody can predict the future.. Although I think demand is pretty healthy for x1 and ps4.. Once price cuts start happening, sales will take off further...
Most dony buy day 1.. Im 31 and this will be the first time ive ever done it.. Same goes for a few friends... I think thr 7-8 year wait will actually make more people jump on thr day 1 bandwagon then in previous generations
Like it matter. According to N4G and NeoGAF, you're a idiot if you don't get a Playstation only.
