They do that on current gen....its called texture streaming. And yeah it can make big changes! It can lengthen a consoles lifespan by providing better graphics at a certain point than the console is capable off (like some great looking titles that have been coming out lately that I can't believe are current gen). But it has its limits and bandwidth from the HDD is key

May beat Microsoft's console? Let me tell you something, this goes to all of the eager Xbox one fans who thinks the Xbox one will have even the slightest chance of beating the PS4 this gen.
The PS3 was 100 dollars more expensive than the 360 at the beginning of its life cycle while launching a year later.
A few years later after beating the 360 in sales on a year by year bases we are now here were the PS3 has outsold the Xbox 360 in overall sales. This tells me that the PlayStation brand name ALONE catapulted the PS3 to victory. Based on these statics alone the Xbox one has no chance. Now we are in a position where not only is the PS4 cheaper, not only is it releasing at the same time as the Xbox one, not only has the Xbox one received the biggest consumer backlash in PR history, but they are once again facing of against the PlayStation brand. Its going to be a slaughter and I didn't even have to look at the Pre order numbers or online surveys to which pretty much indicate the same thing to come to that conclusion.

I'm disagreeing with you here on a few things. People who choose the X1 are gamers. I will be choosing the X1 at launch because I have preferred MS machines over the last 2 generations. And I can say that because I have owned all 3 previous Playstations as well as the 2 previous Xboxs. Over the course of my gaming life I have owned the following;
Atari VCS 2600,
Sega Master System 2,
Segam Megadrive (Genesis) 2,
Nintendo Gameboy,
Nintendo Gameboy Colour,

And second why is everyone assuming we are being forced to buy the Kinect? Personally I want it, and I own the garbage that is the original. Just because there are people who would rather spend more on a different console than you doesnt make them wrong.
And in case you are wondering, the answer is yes I probably will get a PS4 down the line too, however if the last gen is anything to go by it'll just sit on the shelf collecting dust whilst I play Xbox, only difference being I wont need to dust it off to play my blu rays.

This gen, the PS3 launched a year later than the 360, at $599, with a bare bones online network, with poor marketing, with an overwhelming media bias against Sony, with supposedly "no games", with a format that was supposedly doomed, accused of having inferior versions of multiplatform games.

And it still outsold the 360 for the majority of its time in the market, and has already outsold the 360 in total units. And had better exclusive games.

In the upcoming gen, Sony has none of these problems and has the better support, more pre-orders, more powerful hardware, better multiplatform games, better price, positive PR (Microsoft had a PR disaster, and still need to convince the majority of people that they are fair and not an anti-consumer corporation), great marketing, comparable network and services, a more flexible, fair and valuable service in PS+, no free features hidden behind a paywall, and almost no media bias. If Sony outsold and outperformed Microsoft with the aforementioned problems with PS3, they will absolutely annihilate with the PS4.

Microsoft reversed a lot of the stuff that people disagreed with, because of how they could see it would affect their business going ahead. They would've steamrolled ahead with their years and years of conscious anti-consumer planning, had people not been so vocal. I know xbox will do extremely well and satisfy a tremendous amount of gamers. But its the ""if it aint broke dont fix it" mentality that I have. You ask anyone that has had the same brand audio system and its unlikely they would change it simply because they only know one thing, they have always been satisfied with what they have gotten. Its brand loyalty and nothing more, in most cases. So, while the xb1 will do well, im getting a playstation because its been in my living room since its debut. Ive always been happy; why change that? Ive even bought an xbox and 360 for those exclusives. But ultimately always ended up selling it and keeping my PS. Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks.

Unless you have stock invested in either company, I really don't see why one would be interested in what the other one is doing. MS isn't going to collapse if it doesn't initially get as many sales as Sony, and Sony wont go belly up if MS gets an exclusive.
