Aaron Greenberg Pokes Fun at Sony by Responding to Play PS4 Early With Taco Bell Campaign

Greenberg: "Nice to see fans playing #XboxOne before it launches, no Taco Bell required ;-)

xHeavYx3847d ago

Right, because playing a few minutes on a tour is better than winning a free console. I get it's a joke, but he needs to try harder, I mean, people already tried both consoles long ago in different conferences

Abash3847d ago

Its nice that Sony doesnt poke fun at needing to shovel down bags of Doritos and gulp down Mountain Dew to up the chances of winning an Xbox One.... so why is Greenberg poking fun at the five buck box Taco Bell contest to win a PS4?

The guy is so unprofessional and a plain hypocrite.

s8anicslayer3847d ago (Edited 3847d ago )

These guys are so dumb it's blinding, The A & A boys (Albert & Aaron) really don't know when to shut up. I mean that is so childish and I find that their way of trying to build momentem is like that of a young boy telling a girl he likes her...Awkward!

malokevi3847d ago

Its a joke... lol. With all the trolling Kaz & the Sony CEOs do, you think you Sony faithful would be able to stomach a little jibe in your direction.

Evidently not!

_QQ_3847d ago

relax man these people are enjoying their console of choice, does it really hurt you that bad to see other people enjoying xboxone?

P0werVR3847d ago

Taco Bell....YUCK! PS4 HElL YEAH!

But why Taco Bell?!

AngelicIceDiamond3847d ago

@Heavy an can you just enjoy next gen altogether regardless of console?

JokesOnYou3847d ago

It happens...I just which they were funnier.
http://n4g.com/news/1337201...

UnHoly_One3847d ago

Heavy you really need to get over yourself.

If this was the other way around and it was Shuhei Yoshida making a joke like this, you'd all be in here circle jerking about how cool he is and how amazing Sony is, and blah, blah, blah...

Seriously, just give it a rest.

xHeavYx3847d ago

@Unholy
Funny you tell me to get over myself, yet you have your share of comments on PS4 articles. Hypocrite much?
http://n4g.com/news/1370251...

UnHoly_One3847d ago

I didn't say you shouldn't be posting on this article. Post wherever you want.

I'm just saying that when Sony takes jabs at MS, you guy all love it and kiss their ass, but when it goes the other way it's terrible.

There is certainly a hypocrite here, but it isn't me.

ABizzel13847d ago

Says the guy who's console is on the back of Doritos bags giving a chance to win a console every 2 minutes.

nukeitall3847d ago

I love how, Abash says Sony doesn't do this and gets 4 times the agrees to disagrees. Then JokesOnYou show proof of the oppsite and gets 11 times disagrees to 1 agree!

n4g is a Sony fangirl heaven!

NewMonday3847d ago

everyone loves a funny jab

thing is when someone in a losing team dose it just looks pathetic.

Greenberg just hit a new low

ShinMaster3847d ago (Edited 3847d ago )

@ UnHoly_One

When Sony pokes fun, it makes sense! This does not.
It's not that PS fans can't take a joke.

There is a huge difference between playing the XBO once for a few minutes at some event and winning a PS4 console for you to own.

@ nukeitall

Why are you still here then!?
It's obviously not true, you just can't see past your bias.

AngelicIceDiamond3847d ago

@Heavy I notice you can't properly back up your statements. Lately I see you scrambling through somebodies comment history searching for some hypocritical statement of sorts. Are your comments that absurd that you can't back up your own logic? Wow, that's a first.

That's weak, if you can't take it don't dish it honestly

@Abash http://kotaku.com/sony-take...

If Aaron Greenberg is unprofessional then. Shuhei Yoshida and Andrew House are just "unprofessional as Aaron then.

Don't start that hypocrite talk when Sony through mud first.

ZodTheRipper3847d ago

This joke is not in the position to make jokes.

xHeavYx3847d ago

@Angelic
Another sad Xbox fan. If you cared to check my first comment, you would see all the facts I need. But let me explain it to you in simpler terms.
This "Joker" makes a joke stating that it's better to play on an Xbox for a couple minutes than winning a free next gen console. He seems to forget that people already got a taste of both consoles a long time ago.
But wait, you may need even simpler terms, let me try this to see if you get it.
"Herp, derp, derp derp, lol herp"

AgentSmithPS43847d ago

He has the slimy distorted face of a troll so it's no surprise that he'd say something like this.

Army_of_Darkness3847d ago

But I loooove chilly cheese burritos!!.... damn, now I'm craving some.

Mystogan3847d ago

You can win an Xbox one with Doritos and Mountain too.

What he means is you don't need anything to play Xbox One early.

Of course you don't think the joke is funny because its about the PS4.

ShinMaster3847d ago (Edited 3847d ago )

@ Mystogan

There's a difference between playing an XBO once for a few minutes and winning a PS4 to own.

Maybe it would have been funnier if it made sense.

Pogmathoin3847d ago

Guys, PS4 is clearly a better taco bell combo. If xheavy says it is, it must be true. He is after all a top class sony fanboy/troll.... Pay attention to what he says...

scott1823847d ago

When Sony pokes fun at Micro they actually make good, funny points. Microsoft are idiots when it comes to PR and idiots when it comes to making jabs, neither are successful... Sony is doing an awesome job advertising their product, you jelly Greenberg?

Gozer3847d ago

So the guy made a joke. You people getting all defensive need to lighten up. It makes you look like an obsessed insane person.

DigitalRaptor3847d ago (Edited 3847d ago )

@ nukeitall

And only an Xbox fanwarrior would take notice to a number of disagrees to agrees and act like it matters.

at least Sony fanboys aren't supporting an anti-consumer corporation.

Aaron Greenberg has been revealing himself for years as a manipulative, trolling employee and is the representation of unprofessionalism, but of course over at Xbox that seems to be a requirement. Don't think you can say the same about Sony employees.

rainslacker3847d ago

@malokevi

Difference is that Sony's tweets and trolling are actually funny and sometimes pretty clever.

I don't know what this was...hell I've seen you make better troll comments than this.

Death3847d ago

Sony not anti-consumer? Not even a little? Haven't seen many companies change formats over the life of a device. UMD's didn't last as long as I had hoped. Luckily Sony had a great solution and gave me the opportunity to re-purchase the games for the UMDless PSPGo! Same goes for b/c in PS3's. Rip it from the console and then charge to download it instead. Great move. Mandatory Plus if you want to play online next gen? Awesome pro-consumer move. Atleast they kept their promise with "Full HD" gaming on the PS3. All Vita jokes aside, atleast they didn't go with another anti-consumer over priced proprietary format for memory on the system. Would have sucked to pay Microsoft prices for memory cards when so many cheap alternatives exist. Yes, thank you little baby Jesus for a great company that launched a game console at $600 and told me to get another job if I wanted one. Hell, I'm still waiting for the $1200 Jack promised if I could find a PS3 on store shelves for more than 5 minutes. The one thing Sony atleast nailed as pro-consumer was protecting my personal information and credit card numbers in a secure encrypted file on their servers. Could you imagine if they failed to encrypt it and left a hacker steal it from their servers? The only think that could possibly make it worse is if they waited a week to tell me. Now that would be anti-consumer. Kind of like kicking me off the free online unless I opted out of a class action lawsuit for doing it. Now that would be classless and anti-consumer.

Any of this ring a bell?

UltimateMaster3847d ago (Edited 3847d ago )

Microsoft is copying Sony.
Sony were going on tour to campus promoting the PlayStations 3/4/Vita.
Hell, they had that since PS2, but they stopped it for a while and then resumed it.

Hicken3847d ago

I am literally- as in, like an out-of-body experience- beside myself, trying to figure out how those comments by Angelic, malokevi, and Unholy got "Well Said."

malokevi's comment isn't well said because, well, it just isn't. It's not that nobody here can take a joke. It's that the joke wasn't funny, and is actually hypocritical, given their promotion with Doritos and Mountain Dew.

Unholy's first comment is the same. It's trying to draw a parallel between funny jokes and unfunny ones. Oh, and assuming another user's reactions. The second comment is essentially a continuation of the false parallel from the first, meaning it's not very well-said, at all.

And Angelic's comment starts off by saying Heavy lacks facts, yet disregards his original comment, which is fairly factual: winning a console early is FAR better than just getting to play it for a while at a traveling event; both companies are doing this, so it's not like it's really a point in their favor; the joke rather falls flat due to Microsoft doing a very similar promotion. The comment then continues by implying that a rather critical PR message is on the same level as an unfunny, unofficial tweet.

NONE of these comments is Well Said. Yet, somehow, on this Sony fanboy haven, they all get bubbled up.

Does this make sense to anybody else? Cuz I don't get it.

Again- and this is specifically to all you MS fanboys bubbling each other up for saying stupid crap- NOBODY IS UPSET AT WHAT WAS SAID.

It just wasn't funny.

MazzingerZ3846d ago (Edited 3846d ago )

His comment is funny but too local to make the whole internet xbox community to celebrate

I live in scandinavia, no taco bell here nor X1 this year until "sometime" 2014...I would like to ask him if Xbox fans here think that is funny... too late to ask, many getting a PS4 next month

DigitalRaptor3846d ago

@ Death

You are so desperately trying to compare Microsoft's disgusting planned actions, to Sony's circumstantial situations. My lord loyalism at its finest. Don't try and drag down Sony to any sort of comparable level of conscious anti-consumer measures taken by a corporation who wants the gaming industry to bow to their control.

1) You might as well call sony anti-consumer for adding a new storage format each generation if you're going to call them the same for changing UMDs to game cards.

2) PSP-GO had no pretention about it. it was a digital-only market choice. Buy a physical PSP-3000, or buy a PSP go. Anti-consumer? hmmmm.

3) The removal of backwards compatibility would be anti-consumer, IF consumers didn't have the option to play their older games either (A) on a PS3 that already exists on the market and (B) an older console native to those games. They removed the Emotion Engine to reduce costs so that the price would be more appealing for who? Consumers.

4) Ripping BC from the console was a fiscal responsibility. To this is was a malicious choice is ridiculously stupid. But not an unexpected conclusion from an Xbox fanboy. And selling it is again... a choice. They bothered sprucing up the games and adding value to the package, and many gamers found new series they had not played before. There are certainly a couple i'm grateful for.

5) I'm sorry it hurts you that Plus offers so much value off the bat. I'm sorry that every other feature is not behind its paywall just for the sake of greed and control. Plus being a requirement of online play is one way of Sony ensuring they can continue to offer a ridiculously high-bandwidth service for their gamers for a console that is designed to be constantly uploading and downloading. I'm sorry Sony has not been charging us for dedicated servers for many years, and the other company has been charging for P2P for over a decade.

6) "Full HD" - a vision that didn't come to fruition. Luckily lots of games are native 1080p, but i'll be damned if lack of foresight is anti-consumerism.

7) Why even mention "Vita jokes"? The memory card situation is ridiculous, and any price cut is a welcome one. I've scorned Sony about things like this before, but is not an overarching theme of their willingness to screw over a consumer base. Whereas, Microsoft are anti-consumer at their core of how they do business.

DigitalRaptor3846d ago

8) $600 console? How much less is the Xbox One? $100. What drove up PS3's cost? Blu-ray, a standard that is now widely-accepted. How much were Blu-ray players at the time? $1000+. Was Blu-ray a CORE PS3 installation? Yes.

Xbone is a $500 console. What drives up its cost? Kinect, a device that hasn't been able to justify itself since its release. Is Kinect a CORE Xbone installation? No. It was required for anti-consumer purposes, until they were forced to say it wasn't a requirement, and they're still force bundling in a non-required requirement.

9) "Second job". the price was set in stone. It's proven to not be anti-consumer, but all this comment was, was rubbing salt into a wound that may or may not exist. Clearly that wound was wide open for you.

10) "I'm still waiting for the $1200 Jack promised"- Good god you're bitter. Anti-consumer? hahahahahahha.

11) "Credit card details". Not sure if serious, or being ironic. Sony did what any other company does in the event of a hack. They plug a leak, they deal with the security problems and implications. Then when they are sure they have the information to deliver, they tell their consumers. Now since the credit card information was encrypted like you said, it made no difference by telling us a week later. Not really sure what point this was trying to deliver.
-

So to conclude, I'm not saying Sony has never done anything questionable, but to compare the actions of both companies is night and day. You'd have to be a fool to see any different. And you'd have to be even more of a moron to support Microsoft based on their actions over the past 6 months alone.

rammstein913846d ago

pixelsword3846d ago

Aw, Greenburg was just having a bit of fun.

Hey, I wonder if his name had anything to do with the color of the Xbox?

Death3845d ago

@Raptor,

So what you are saying is everything Sony does is just circumstance and not controlled by Sony and everything Microsoft does is anti-consumer? Makes perfect sense. You are right about Sony not ripping b/c out of scorn, they did it to keep PS2 sales going since that was where their profit came from. If you were a PS2 owner that bought a PS3 without b/c and you needed to replace your PS2, you probably weren't feeling the pro-consumer buzz. No doubt b/c is not cheap for manufacturers, but anti-consumer Microsoft kept plugging away at it when Sony threw in the towel.

I appreciate you apologizing for Plus "hurting" me, but I happily subscribe since I have a PSP, Vita and PS3 that I use it on. It's cool that you drink the Sony Kool Aid and wave your pom-poms, but that doesn't change the fact that neither company is pro or anti-consumer like many want to believe. Microsoft launched a console that was plagued with issues, but they also spent over a billion to fix it by extending the warranty at no charge for three years. Sony launched a console that was way over priced and ripped out hardware and features to make it more affordable. I say the support by Microsoft was a good thing, you thank Sony for making the PS3 more affordable so more people could enjoy Sony's greatness. Makes no difference to me, but please don't tell me Sony is looking out for it's customers while Microsoft is not. Both are simply selling their products.

Doesnt everybody? MS just keeps on adding to the longgggg list of both passive aggressive AND extremely obvious shots fired at sony. dont you guys understand by now that talking this much trash is making you look TERRIBLE?

i get that a jokes a joke, but with all the real smack talking MS has done about sony over the past few months, i think its just a good idea for them to keep their mouths shut.

MS makes fun of Sony for their Taco Bell promo? Yeah, because that's something they'd never Dew.

sinjonezp3847d ago

I see what you did ther......ok that's old now anyway I think this guy is one of those douche of the universe candidates and like one of our n4gers said, they are having a tour just to let people get a few minutes hands on. Sony is flat out giving systems away. Its sad that - that's the best jab you can come with. I wanted the new Xbox at one point. unfortunately, every PR blunder has made me reconsider.

HugoDrax3846d ago

Hahaha N4G is a Sony site. How are you all saying Microsofts jab at Sony is terrible, but Sony has been taking Jabs since E3? Then you guys are talking about PR Blunders as if Microsoft gives a damn lol. They're still going to sell millions of consoles regardless if you're a Sony/Microsoft fanboy.

Like you guys are arguing over Taco Bell, Mountain Dew, Doritos lololol. This is a gaming site, who gives a damn about which franchise Microsoft or Sony decided to Sponsor?

@ultimatemaster

"Microsoft is copying Sony.
Sony were going on tour to campus promoting the PlayStations 3/4/Vita.
Hell, they had that since PS2, but they stopped it for a while and then resumed it."

Right! Because console promotions began with Sony? Wrong on so many levels. When I was in undergrad in 2000-2001, Microsoft gave my dormitory a XBOX console two weeks before launch. The console sat in our dorm living room, for us to try out. Then they returned two weeks later to retrieve the console before launch. They also left boxes of XBOX t shirts for us, thus every freshman was wearing XBOX t shirts on campus lol, free shirts why not? Anyhow I guess you think a company who hasn't turned a profit in half a decade, has more marketing funds than one of the most successful companies in the world.

After that comment I think I'm done with the so called gamers on this site, it's full of fanboys who worship companies as if it's a religion lol. While you fanboys continue to argue over which console is superior, I'll be enjoying all three come 11/15 & 11/22. Definitely will be having too much fun to partake in unnecessary fanboy debates. Grow up will you N4G? Happy Gaming gamer, less than 40days now.......

Well since gamers are their income source I'd imagine every single decision is met with "how will gamers view this?".

They'd be out of jobs in 2 hours if they didn't.

But it's apparent MS thought like you, thinking they could do whatever they like. Look how that worked out for them.

TechMech23847d ago

@jessupj
Both ms and Sony have bigger things to deal with than the gaming community. Their profits rely on other tech. Both Sony and Microsoft are attempting to create home entertainment systems rather than game systems. Appealing to the masses is more important for profitis than making gamers happy.

Bethesda Needs to Reduce the Gaps Between New Fallout and Elder Scrolls Releases

Waiting a decade for new instalments in franchises as massive as Fallout and Elder Scrolls feels like a waste.

gamingbolt.com
-Foxtrot14h ago

Microsoft have Obsidian but I feel it's Bethesda who just don't want to play ball as they've always said they want to do it themselves.

Once MS bought Zenimax in 2020 they should have put the Outer Worlds 2 on the back burner, allow Bethesda to finish off its own Space RPG with Starfield (despite totally different tone why have two in your first party portfolio with two developers who's gameplay is a tad similar) and got Obsidian for one of their projects to make a spiritual successor to New Vegas.

When the Elder Scrolls VI is finished Bethesda can then onto the main numbered Fallout 5 themselves.

The Outer Worlds 2 started development in 2019 so putting it on the back burner wouldn't have been the end of the world, they'd have always come back to it once Fallout was done and it would have been nicely spaced out from Starfields release once they had most likely stopped supporting it and all the expansions were released.

If they did this back in 2020 when they bought Zenimax and the game had a good, steady 4 - 5 years development, you might have seen it release in 2025.

We are literally going to be waiting until 2030 at the very earliest for Fallout 5 and all they seem bothered about is pushing Fallout 76.

RaidenBlack12h ago(Edited 12h ago)

Its not just only Todd not playing ball.
Obsidian have made a name for themselves in delivering stellar RPGs, but most famous once have always been sequels/spin-offs to borrowed IPs like KOTOR 2, Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Stick of Truth etc.
Obsidian wants to invest more in their own original IPs like Outer Worlds or Pillars of Eternity with Avowed.
Similar to what Bluepoint & inXile wants to do or Kojima is doing (i.e not involving anymore in Konami's IPs).
So yea, even if New Vegas has the most votes from 3D Fallout fans, Obsidian just wants to do their own thing, like any aspiring dev studio and MS is likely currently respecting that.
But a future Fallout game from Obsidian will surely happen. Founder Feargus Urquhart has already stated an year ago that they're eager to make a new Fallout game with Bethesda, New Vegas 2 or otherwise. Urquhart was the director of the very first 1995's Fallout game after all.
And don't forget Brian Fargo and his studio inXile, as Brian Fargo was the director of Fallout's 1988 predecessor: Wasteland

KyRo9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

Obsidian should take over the FO IP. They're do far better with it than Bethesda who hasn't made a great game for almost 15 years

RaidenBlack3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

@KyRo
So, by 15 years, you mean Fallout 3 was the last great game Bethesda made?
You don't consider Skyrim a good game, which came out 13 years ago?
I'd consider Fallout 4 a pretty decent game as well. It's Story & RPG elements were a bit downgrade from New Vegas but the exploration and shooting on the other hand, were upgrades.
FO76 was disappointing and Starfield could've been better at launch I'll agree.

Duke198h ago(Edited 8h ago)

I disagree. Part of these games is the support for the mod community. If they move to releasing a "next game" every 2 or 3 years, the modding support plummets and the franchises turn into just another run of the mill RPG.

Make the games good enough to withstand the test of time, to keep people coming back to them and expanding on them with mod support.

--Onilink--6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

I dont think anyone is saying they need to come out every 2 years (not to mention almost no game is released that quickly anymore)

By the time Fallout 5 comes out, it will be more than 15 years since Fallout 4 came out (same with ES6 coming out 15 years after Skyrim). Even if you want to use F76 as the metric for the most recent release, that one came out in 2018. It will be a miracle if F5 comes out before 2030

The point is that for a studio that doesnt seem to operate with multiple teams doing several projects at once, that their projects normally take 4-5 years as a minimum, and that now they even added Starfield to the rotation, it becomes a 15+ years waiting period between releases for each series, which doesnt make sense. Imagine that Nintendo only released a mainline Mario or Zelda game every 15 years…

They either need to start developing more than 1 project at a time, let someone else take a crack at one of the IPs or significantly reduce their development times

Duke194h ago(Edited 4h ago)

Why should someone else take a crack at one of the IPs? Look at what happened to Final Fantasy as a recent example - there is pretty clear FF fatigue setting in because they are now pumping out titles in the franchise every few years. Pumping out more games faster doesn't always make a series better.

There are plenty of options to make new games, not just create more titles in the same universe at a faster pace.

-Foxtrot2h ago

"Why should someone else take a crack at one of the IPs"

He's literally just told you why

We're waiting like 15 years before a sequel comes out, it's insane

Skyrim came out in 2011, the next game is expected to come out in 2027 at the earliest so that's 16 years apart while Fallout 4 came out in 2015 and might not release until 2031, again 16 years.

We're fine with Bethesda trying new things and doing new IPs like Starfield but adding a new game to the cycle now means a bigger wait. Also Starfield didn't meet most peoples expectations, can you imagine waiting 15 years or so for a sequel and it's disappointing? It would feel even worse because you would have to wait another 15 years to see if they manage to come back from it.

They need to give it to another developer, we don't need main numbered titles but a spin off of Fallout and Elder Scrolls should be cycled in between the long gaps of the main releases.

Once again you are making out people want these games as quick as possible when all we want is a standard development time of at least 4 years or so rather than waiting 15.

mandf6h ago

Yeah I’m going to say it, who cares about the modding community when making a game? Half the time developers only tolerate modders because they fix there game for them.

Skuletor7h ago

Yeah, let's all advocate for smaller gaps between series' releases, then we'll probably get headlines about how the series have dropped in quality and they could have benefited from more time in the oven. Let them cook.

"how the series have dropped in quality and they could have benefited from more time in the oven" So every Bethesda game then? Got it.

Listen, I would agree if this was about From Software or something, but Bethesda?

🤣

C'mon now. What timeline are you from?

Think about it, they're already bug filled messes on their current schedule, can you imagine how much worse it would be if they rushed things?

@Skuletor

Who's saying to rush the releases? No one is saying that...

People just don't want to be waiting 15 years for a sequel, they aren't working on the game for that long, you do realise that right? The issue isn't coming down to them working on the game and us "rushing them", it's the fact they are working on other games like Starfield now meaning bigger gaps before they even get started on them.

I bet you any more Elder Scrolls VI only entered full development last year when Starfield was finished despite being announced in 2018.

I mean you aren't wrong. People are going to complain about anything

Hows about you focus on quality, just a thought 🤷‍♂️

Bethesda [or Microsoft] would have to reallocate internal and external studios towards fallout and elder scrolls titles. Bethesda has the issue of developing 2 big IPs that are large RPGs on rotation. If you want more Fallout and Elder Scrolls, development will have to be outsourced.
