list is pretty damn good

Baldur's Gate II literally CRAPS on every other major rpg ever made

Way better than any mass effect, elder scrolls, dragon age, better than any final fantasy, any fallout, any other rpg ever made

next would be icewind dale series, then neverwinter nights, then the witcher 1

every one of those games as well destroys any mass effect/skyrim/whatever cookie cutter rpg!

not that those games are bad, the are just paint by numbers, lead you by the nose

the best elder scrolls game by far is morrowind, you can mod it and it looks way better than skyrim on xbox or ps3!

Pintheshadows3839d ago

You forgot Planescape Torment.

cunnilumpkin3839d ago

agreed, I do love that game as well, but the humor and heavy dialog make it almost a category of its own, I almost don't consider planescape an rpg in a way, it is its own genre in a way

but yes, planescape, imo, is better than neverwinter, though not quite bg2 level

Pintheshadows3839d ago

I agree, it is a very very unique game and a stone cold classic. To me BG2 and Planescape are the pinnacle of Infinity Engine games.

WarThunder3839d ago (Edited 3839d ago )

1- Darksouls
2- The Witcher 2
3- Divinity II
4- Neverwinter Nights
5- Final Fantasy VIII
6- Baldur's Gate II
7- Diablo 2
8- Knights Of The Old Republic
9- Deus Ex
10- Mount & Blade: Warband
11- The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
12- Skyrim
13-MassEffect (the Original) ME2/3 are not RPG games

Pintheshadows3839d ago

I like that you included Divinity 2. A lot of people really dislike that game but I really enjoyed it. Had a great sense of humour much like its predecessors.

MadLad3839d ago (Edited 3839d ago )

Same here.
Divinity 2 was fantastic.
Truly a great sense of humor, good character progression and just an overall well told story.
Truly a great roleplaying game.

Here we go... a top (insert number) list. One person's opinion becomes a heresy to the gospel of gaming, and everyone must pick up their pitchforks and burn the witch. Dramatic... I know... but some of you need to calm the ____ down. It's okay... you don't have to agree with the author's list. I don't. Hell, I don't even respect his opinion... but his list is his list.

How did you get Fallout New vegas higher on the list than Fallout3?

Neckbear3839d ago

Because it's a game that actually knows what Fallout is about and realizes its potential fully, unlike 3?

Moncole3839d ago

Because its a better game and got way better RPG mechanics.

Fallout Anthology Edition Looks Pretty S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

The Fallout Anthology Edition is coming to PC very soon, and is packaged with some very S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bonuses.

It’s an awful downgrade to the last one they did

They included physical disc back then

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
