Baldur's Gate II literally CRAPS on every other major rpg ever made

Way better than any mass effect, elder scrolls, dragon age, better than any final fantasy, any fallout, any other rpg ever made

next would be icewind dale series, then neverwinter nights, then the witcher 1

every one of those games as well destroys any mass effect/skyrim/whatever cookie cutter rpg!

not that those games are bad, the are just paint by numbers, lead you by the nose

the best elder scrolls game by far is morrowind, you can mod it and it looks way better than skyrim on xbox or ps3!

agreed, I do love that game as well, but the humor and heavy dialog make it almost a category of its own, I almost don't consider planescape an rpg in a way, it is its own genre in a way

but yes, planescape, imo, is better than neverwinter, though not quite bg2 level

I agree, it is a very very unique game and a stone cold classic. To me BG2 and Planescape are the pinnacle of Infinity Engine games.

Divinity 2 was fantastic.
Truly a great sense of humor, good character progression and just an overall well told story.
Truly a great roleplaying game.

How did you get Fallout New vegas higher on the list than Fallout3?

i must be completely off because i never really got into like 13 of those games besides skyrim and darksouls.
imo i always thought games like

We all know that the best RPG out there is call of duty.

Never seen such an immersive and complex rpg in my life.

I mean the load outs, the fish, the dogs...is there anything those guys can't do?

In terms of RPGs I think Diablo 2 is one of my favs and the classic fallout series.

I also like path of exile:) and Agarest right now. I also really am enjoying Last Remenant.

There is a lot about the list that I disagree with, especially putting Fallout NV before Fallout 3...which had a much better storyline imo.

I did like Oblivion a lot I actually played it more than Skyrim.

I think my Number 1 rpg of all time would have ot eb....Neverwinter Nights. I dunno what it was but I just liked it a lot. I use to play it and Dungeon Siege 1 a lot.

I got the original Fallout for free from GoG and while I can understand its significance in gaming history, I don't think it's aged well.

I still don't understand the praise for Mass Effect or Dragon Age.

Mass Effect was more space opera shooter than RPG and the entire concept of choice was an illusion. It was entirely a point to point affair that really offered very little in the way of exploration or depth. Spending your time mining for checking out generic space stations does not make for an engaging side mission. I did enjoy the entire series but not enough to praise it or put it in a "Top" list.

Dragon Age Origins had one of the worst stories I think I have ever encountered. Not once during the entire game was I ever invested in the quest I was actually on. There was no plot twists, no depth, and no character development. Everything was plainly laid out for you at the beginning of the game and rather than build on this overall plot it was a series of smaller racial based quests in each zone to keep the peace and gain their allegiance. Such a waste of a game.

1. Planescape Torment (No reason required I guess)
2. Baldur's Gate 2 (For introducing what RPGs should have)
3. Neverwinter Nights 2:Mask of the Betrayer (Overall NWN2 was not that good but MOTB expansion had IMO best ever rpg story)
4. Final Fantasy VI (Best FF ever...Superb story,enchanting music,great character)
5. KOTOR1 (Star Wars with Bioware polish..enough)
6. Dragon Age Origins (For resurrecting classic rpg,spell effect,huge engaging world and lore)
7. Fallout New Vegas (Choices were never this difficult.Even the sidequests were masterpieces of RPG writing)
8. Witcher (For introducing Gray Area RPG...Never really lets you realize whether you are right or wrong)
9. Mass Effect (Space opera with so much new lore...Emotional journey)
10. Shadowrun Genesis Version (A boyhood favorite..Hacking through matrix were way ahead of times)

Diablo 2 is still my favorite. I spent way too many hours on that game
