Australian Xbox One Hands On with Forza 5, Dead Rising 3, Ryse and More

Tynan Muddle and Brad Long at Aussie-Gamer write: "Microsoft Australia invited the Aussie-Gamer team to Sydney where we went hands on with the latest builds of some of Xbox One’s flagship titles.
Video games on hand included Crytek’s Ryse: Son of Rome, Capcom’s Dead Rising 3 and Kinect Sports Rivals.

Ancient fighting title turned next-gen free-to-play Killer Instinct was also playable, as was racing simulation Forza Motorsport 5.

Set to the backdrop of DJ talent Ruby Rose, we had ample time to check out all the Xbox One had to offer. Many of these games are set to be playable in public at EB Expo this October, and most will launch alongside Xbox One come November 22, 2013."

Says Dead Rising 3 is: "everything runs smoothly at 60 frames per second, even when the action heats up." Maybe he meant 30 FPS.

FITgamer3857d ago (Edited 3857d ago )

60 fps? I thought the game was 30 fps.

Edit: It was corrected in the article.

mhunterjr3857d ago (Edited 3857d ago )

Can't trust this hands on, KI is far from clunky, DR3 is 30fps, not 60, you don't play as a roman god in ryse, and its graphics are regarded by many as some of the best at next gen launch. I'm interested in Kinect Sports, but it can't possibly be the most exciting thing he saw that day. This guy is uninformed, and weird,

GoldenElf3857d ago

KI was clunky, DR3 was a typo, you DO play as a god in Ryse Gladiator Mode and the graphics were shit. Were you at the event?

mhunterjr3857d ago (Edited 3857d ago )

Except the facts that,1) KI is not clunky the controls are very responsive, and at 60fps, there is no latency, critical in a fast paced combo driven game 2) you don't play as a God in Ryse, even in gladiator mode. You play as a gladiator (hence the name of the mode) You choose a god to worship and are rewarded by that god with power-ups. There are occasional graphical glitches, like texture pop in and animation glitches, but the models and textures are unarguably next gen.

You, like the writer, have no idea what you are talking about. I'll be the first to admit, There is plenty to worry about with KI, and Ryse, but no one has concerns about the former for its controls or the latter for its graphics... Except for the writer... And you

Evil_Ghosty3857d ago

I will admit KI felt weird on a Xbox Controller, however it wasn't too bad. Ryse did not look shit either, and I have personally played all of those games at a private industry event held in Australia a few weeks ago.
Seems you got to play a later build than I did for DR3 as there was slowdown but it was mentioned it was an old build

drsfinest723857d ago

I'msorry not everyone like god of War.

BallsEye3857d ago

It's Australia. They probably removed all the blood and gore and replaced zombies with dinosaurs and achieved 60 fps this way ...

xKugo3857d ago

More bad impressions from Ryse, although they did say that it was an early build. Would be concerned if I was buying a Xbox One but I'm not, so I don't give a fuck. First it was 1080p/60fps, now it's 900p/30fps. Now we even have "last gen textures". Ouch!! Man these consoles(PS4 to a lesser extent) are a big let down.

fghtrer3fb5erg3857d ago (Edited 3857d ago )

Not only M$ but the fans are also making stuff up about the xboxone games to impress people (the least informed ppl) to help M$ raise their sales with their new console by buying one, interesting...

Do Australia have HD TV's and do they use HDMI and the same standards as the U.S? I am not trying to say anything anti-Australia, but this guy can not see the difference between this gen and next. Even is low resolution vids I can see a huge difference.

fghtrer3fb5erg3857d ago

I can still see the difference even on lower resolution, i think people expected photorealistic looking games on next gen, i mean, next gen is a few steps further than current gen and the games weve seen already look sweet so far, photorealistic only on the next next gen, from what ive heard next gen consoles needed 15 teraflops just for the CGI graphics.

GoldenElf3857d ago

We have HD TV's in Australia and use the same HDMI standards. The truth is that the graphic jump from Xbox 360 to Xbox One isn't massive.

For example, if you played Smash Bros on Nintendo 64 then Smash Bros on Wii U, you would say "wow, what a difference". When you play Dead Rising 2 on X360 then Dead Rising 3 on Xbox One, you say "Ah, there's more shadows and stuff".

To put it another way, if Nintendo 64 gave artists 4 colours, Xbox 360 gave them 12 colours, Xbox One gives them 20 colours. You're still painting the same pictures, but you can have more depth and detail in those pictures.

But next gen is more than just graphics. These boxes have tonnes of power so they can calculate data a lot better. For example, they can put in dynamic weather effects that actually affect gameplay (maybe when it rains, fire is extinguished but only if it's exposed to the rain, for example).

So we'll see deeper experience, just not hugely better looking ones. That said, the games do look better in general. Just not "WOAH!" better.

Barlos142d ago

I'll have to get this! Been a big fan of KI since the very first one.

Petebloodyonion142d ago (Edited 142d ago )

I love KI (still play the old arcade version) but feel like the Xbox version is like a big intimidating chessboard with no easy way to instruct you to play chess.
The game is so deep in terms of little things to do that it makes Smash Bros melee look like a casual experience.
Honestly, doing a combo Breaker is punish/reward by itself but hey you can add a counterbreaker.
Here's what you also need to know
Breaking Shadow-linker
Instincts
Shadow counter
Auto double,
linker, manual
ender
etc,

There isn't going to be any chance of this being played at tournaments unless it appears on all platforms like all fighting games.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH146d ago

SF5 didn’t appear on all consoles and was still played at Tournaments. I’ve seen KI tournaments recently so I don’t think your opinion is accurate.
