Jack Carone from In Defense of Animals tells TMZ ... his group is incensed that Rockstar Games is capitalizing off animal torture -- and it doesn't matter if it's real or fake. He says it perpetuates what he calls "institutionalized violence" against helpless animals.

If they want to ban this for "Animal rights" then ban EVERY game that has some sort of animal hunting, including some of those "Hunter" games that come with a gun. Hell the animals in the wild in game are "optional" not "mandatory" to kill/run over.

If you want to make a difference, do something for your local community, not fight and argue "bannings" over something fake. The more I hear about people wanting to boycott GTA over something silly/stupid, the less faith I have in humanity as a whole.

While I agree with you, the truth is for everyone that calls for bans or boycotts on these games, more people go out and buy it. It's actually counter productive. People are attracted to controversy, and it served GTA2 well back in the day.

The charities and organisation are not helping their public image by doing this. They will get the hardcore fanatics but the average joe will look at this as just a winning child. That's too hard, and doesn't generate the amount of publicity that going after a successful game can bring. Most of these animal groups are less concerned about the animals, and more about their own profile.

I'm all for animal right but ffs. Its a game and an excellent one at that. How can humans be this stupid? I thought our brains would have evolved enough by now not to be this retarded but oh well. Its a damn game and in order to tell a story and immerse players, the game has to show what happens in reality and even if they're is no point to gore in a video game, it isn't real. No animals or people are actually being hurt and any adult with a brain in their heads is not going to think killing people or animals is fine because they can do it in a game. Watched the video as I haven't play GTAV to see what the fuss is all about. All I can say to those animal right groups, stop wasting your time bitching about a video game, and focus on the real sick shite that some people tend to do in real life to animals.

I've bought the game but I haven't experienced the portion that has been causing all of the controversy. I will concede that some of the subject matter may be a bit gratuitous but I will also acknowledge that adults have a right to consume whatever they like. Minors should not have access to games like this but that is obviously not the case. Even though I will play this game from beginning to end by doing so I am in no way advocating violence against animals or women.
