Grand Theft Auto V : Animal Rights Group Demands Boycott

Jack Carone from In Defense of Animals tells TMZ ... his group is incensed that Rockstar Games is capitalizing off animal torture -- and it doesn't matter if it's real or fake. He says it perpetuates what he calls "institutionalized violence" against helpless animals.

Its a video game for christ's sake

Yi-Long3868d ago

Don't like it? Then don't buy it. Simple. Don't go around crying for a boycot or ban or whatever.

Gaming1013867d ago

lol It's the politically correct police waving their wands around at anything they don't like... they just need a tampon and everything will be fine.

Screw 'In Defense of Animals'!!! Those activist groups normally condone or promote eco-terrorism.

Sea Shepherds, Animal Liberation Force, Greenpeace, and PeTA are prime examples of eco-terrorism.

They sure would love your user name aha

Ezz20133868d ago (Edited 3868d ago )

i'm so sick of this ...really
it become so lame now

"games are too violent"
"games treat women bad"
"games have too much sex"
"games are bad because it make you kill animals"
"games let white guy kill black guy or the other way around...it's teh racist "

IT'S A DAMN VIDEO GAMES ...it was build for gamers to enjoy them not to take them srsly and emulate them in their lives so stop this BS already

it's like those people all what they wants us to play is a pony game with rainbow

SatanSki3868d ago

Exactly. I would gladly kill any MF who mistreat animals but its just a game.

Tetsujin3868d ago

If they want to ban this for "Animal rights" then ban EVERY game that has some sort of animal hunting, including some of those "Hunter" games that come with a gun. Hell the animals in the wild in game are "optional" not "mandatory" to kill/run over.

If you want to make a difference, do something for your local community, not fight and argue "bannings" over something fake. The more I hear about people wanting to boycott GTA over something silly/stupid, the less faith I have in humanity as a whole.

rainslacker3867d ago

While I agree with you, the truth is for everyone that calls for bans or boycotts on these games, more people go out and buy it. It's actually counter productive. People are attracted to controversy, and it served GTA2 well back in the day.

HammadTheBeast3868d ago

I'm not sure why they're wasting resources on a video game when there's real animals in trouble...

3-4-53867d ago

So what these people are saying is that digital animals are = to real living animals ?

Are they sane ?

ajax173867d ago

They're really scraping the bottom of the barrel, these activists.

k2d3867d ago (Edited 3867d ago )

Better that the kids get blow up dogs in virtual world and feel good or bad about it then, rather than that they do something of the sort in real life.

The charities and organisation are not helping their public image by doing this. They will get the hardcore fanatics but the average joe will look at this as just a winning child. You need to be like the Mormon's reaction (the church) to The Book of Mormon. They reacted well to something that criticises their belief. Animal rights needs to do the same sort of thing.

KonsoruMasuta3868d ago (Edited 3868d ago )

No real animals were hurt. Why don't these guys go help some REAL animals that really need it. Right now, habitat destruction, poaching, and hunting are hurting REAL animal species and driving them towards extinction. And these guys want to worry about fake animals in a video game?

iamnsuperman3868d ago

It is a poor and cheap way to get the issue to the masses. I personally think these messages backfire unless the masses actually hate the thing they latch on to (GTA isn't one of those things)

dennett3163868d ago

That's too hard, and doesn't generate the amount of publicity that going after a successful game can bring. Most of these animal groups are less concerned about the animals, and more about their own profile.
They seem to think that this proves their commitment to animals, when in actual fact, this ridiculousness makes them look so stupid to the average person.

solidboss073868d ago

Its not for kids, you thick bastards, it is adult entertainment. And what about my rights when a shark eats me while I swim. Seriously though, you can kill animals, you don't need to, same with NPC's.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing691d 3h ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos1d 1h ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius14h ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy851d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius14h ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
