For PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Best Games May Have to Wait

Video game players are always excited to get their hands on new consoles, and in November, two new game machines are scheduled to be introduced: Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4. But while new consoles usually lead to better games, often that happens only in the long run. Some of the final games made for aging consoles have been better than the first games that were released for brand-new systems. Neither the PlayStation 3 in 2006 nor the Xbox 360 a year earlier went on sale with a single memorable initial title.

Nice article from New York Times! Love that site! And yes, PS4 has to wait for Sony Santa Monica, Naughty Dog, Media Molecule and Sucker Punch to really shine.

And we can't forget about the countless free-to-play games coming to PS4 on day one!

But thank goodness there's Killzone: Shadow Fall, Drive Club and the multiplats to hold the fort until then.

Xbox One has to wait for Halo 5 from 343, whatever Black Tusk is forging, and Remedy with that thing they've been working on.

But again, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5 and the multiplats should keep Xbox One fans busy until then.

The wait will be tough, but at least I have a long PS3 backlog to kill time on.

"For PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Best Games May Have to Wait"

We don't have to wait for Killzone Shadow Fall.

Multiplats should keep every1 busy this side of xmas!

Im really interest in the ubisoft 1s : black flag, divison and watch dogs

I believe that Drive Club, Forza, DR3, Killzone, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed, Battlefield 4, COD, Resogun, and Infamous due out in February represent the best console launches in the history of gaming (Please see Wii U launch for further clarification).

Beyond Two Souls and GTA V will probably be unsurpassed in visual fedility on current gen systems. After playing TLOU, I felt that I had finally gotten my money's worth this gen and I was beginning to feel ready to move on.

" I was beginning to feel ready to move on"

Graphics wise u can tell the ps3 is really struggling!! My phat ps3s fan has been on overdrive!!

ND is one of the main reasons why im choosing the ps4!!!

"Neither the PlayStation 3 in 2006 nor the Xbox 360 a year earlier went on sale with a single memorable initial title"

That's pure BS, Resistance: Fall of Man was definitely a memorable titles that carried on as a franchise this generation. Soon after launch, during Europe's launch in fact, we had MotorStorm which was extremely memorable and also continued as a franchise through this generation.

In contrast to the start of this gen I think DriveClub and Killzone will both do just fine and will be great, memorable launch titles as well.

On MS's side of things they didn't have any big, exclusive launch games for the 360 but the Xbox One launching with Forza, a well known, respected and fan supported franchise also put this article into question. "The best games will have to wait", if Forza wasn't a launch title there are people that would be waiting for its release so this statement isn't valid.

This article is fluff, there's always going to be great or better games on the horizon so what is it really trying to say? We have a great launch line up for both systems, I don't see this "wait for good games to come" that it claims to exist.

This is true for me. The first games I've seen to make me want next gen are mirrors edge 2 and destiny. And those won't release till 2015ish most likely.

come_bom3883d ago

Don't agree. Mirrors edge 2 and destiny look like good games, but they don't look next gen to me.

tdogchristy903883d ago (Edited 3883d ago )

I'm not saying their ability to/not to look next gen is my reasoning. I'm saying as a game they are my first real reasons for buying a next gen console. One buys a console for the games and those are the first games I've seen to make me jump.

@RBlue_Desire Lol, I needed that today. Thank you. bubble+ for you. :D

solidjun53883d ago

True, but there are some very great games coming out for launch for both systems.
PS4: Killzone: Shadowfall, DriveClub, etc..
Xbox: Forza, Killer Instinct, etc..

Great times are ahead! ^_^

Oh, how much I wish for more Hack N Slash Games.....
