DICE Answers Your Battlefield 4 Questions

IGN: "Just before this year’s Gamescom, I put out the call for Battlefield 4 questions for DICE. Nearly 2,500 comments later, I, erm, had quite a few to choose from. I picked a few specific questions as well as some common themes among the questions and hit Lars Gustavsson, the Creative Director at DICE with them during the show."

My question would be:

If this game going to be a rushed mess like BF3 and have GB's worth of patches and updates post launch to fix issues that shouldn't have been there in the first place?

If not then great. If so then no buy.

Probably if the rumours are true about the console version. I was hoping for a smooth launch but DICE are in that group of developers who release something that isn't finished. Sure the PC version will be awesome and to a lot of people perfection but still doesn't excuse them for a poor console launch (i.e. BF3)

I am waiting for that exact reason

BC2 is my favorite multiplayer game of all time. It sucks that I can't be excited for BF4.

Console wise, BF3 was a complete letdown compared to Bad Company 2. It was just a "longer" cod.

Not to mention that the game was unplayable for a few weeks when it launched. My two friends and I could not even play a match together. My best friend and I had to leave a good friend behind because it refused to keep three people together.

My fond memories of BC2 is the only reason I'm looking even sideways at BF4.

Like the above said, the pc version will surely be TOP-NOTCH, I have no doubt of that.

But back when I traded my ps3 copy in I swore that they lost a customer. I REALLY hope that they prove me wrong. We shall see.

For fanboys: I realize that they released bf3 on outdated hardware. Technical limitations blah blah blah.

At the end of the day they released a sub-par product. As a console player consider me once bitten, twice shy.

Here's hoping though!

The exact thing happens in bfbc2 also. BC2s launch wasn't perfect either.

is there something wrong with BF3 that I'm missing?

Long time COD player here, and I tried out BF3 back in June and haven't looked back.

I love this game, aside from the ugly and horrible maps that make up 60% for the maps.

The maps still play better than any COD though.

It sounds like EVERYTHING will be improved for this game though. I am fine with how BF3 plays.

GarrusVakarian3881d ago

I don't think there's much wrong with it now, but at launch it was a mess and the amount of updates that were released was laughable.

I´m glad they have in consideration the issue with the privates servers, many admins punish skill just because you get high streaks, or kill the ones that have high kill streaks on their teams, and the worse is that normaly the ones that kick you out or ban you, are 50+ colonels even 100 level colones that cannot stand that someone kill them only want to play against noobs, i hate that

AllroundGamer3882d ago

will you again release a game which plays like a beta loaded with bugs just like with BF3?...

younglj013881d ago

booooo rent-a-server is coming back...I don't care it is being revamp but I see this as another money grab from assholes gamers...

sigfredod3881d ago

And the worst is if you look for an official server all of them that i have played are only for 100 tickets, way too short for my taste i like to play 300 tickets

younglj013881d ago

what is sad on my part is that every US South and East DICE server are all empty on PS3.Now I just use those empty servers too practice jets and helicopters.

BF3 would have been an great game but rent-a-server ruin the whole vibe of BF.The rules I came across was ridiculous.I was having my best combat bolt-action sniping match on Metro CQ,43-5 and I was playing the objective.I wasnt camping or anything just covering my teammates.

Hopefully admins will not control everything in BF4 but hopefully DICE keep all official servers up,so these type of problems won't happen.

Battlefield 1, Hardline, BF4 Servers Are Being Taken Offline by Cheaters; EA Silent on Issue

Cheaters & hackers have been causing grief on Battlefield 1, Hardline & BF4 servers, with nonstop DDoS attacks among other things. Unfortunately, EA has remained silent about it.

-Foxtrot753d ago

Course they are silent, they are hoping people flock to 2042

gamesftw250752d ago

Maybe it was a inside job then haha.

jeromeface752d ago

wouldnt be the first time, titanfall 1+2 anyone?

PapaBop752d ago

Not even if they paid me.. EA always do this with old games with less money potential, if this was Ultimate Team, they'd address and sort it faster than stories could spread. Why invest time in their products when they will just dump it in the following years? Then again EA never could see the forest for the trees.

Inverno752d ago

I imagine after those games were given out for free a couple months back through Amazon, anything that makes people go to 2042 is a plus for them

XiNatsuDragnel753d ago

They want people to go on 2042. My theory

excaliburps752d ago

Nah. I think they can't do anything about it or they want to sink money into fixing it.

Pudge102888752d ago (Edited 752d ago )

EA owns all BF servers so yes, they can do something about it but they refuse to because they dont want ppl playing their old games instead of the new one. Its EA we’re talking about here

pr33k33752d ago

if this happened in 2042, they'd have something to say. which is weird, considering battlefield 1 has more players on steam right now.

Pudge102888752d ago

Its so obvious that EA is doing this or hired ppl to mess up the games so that we’d be forced to have just 1 Battlefield working.

FPS_D3TH752d ago

Honestly it’s probably the devs themselves. They did an update to bf4 way back that kinda made assault rifles doo doo in hopes that people would flock to BF1 cuz BF4 was too perfect

There's a bunch of great shooters on gamepass; both legacy and new.

A recommendation I have is a work in progress preview title called Anacrusis. It's a lot of fun, and has a cool aesthetic.

5 Games That Started Out As A Buggy Mess

KeenGamer: "Sometimes a game starts out as a buggy mess and we all just stop and think, “that definitely could have spent a bit more time in the oven”. This is the case for these 5 games which infamously marked their place in recent game memory."
