And just to put things in perspective for the people who don't know, Peter Moore used to be the Corporate Vice-President of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division and Don Mattrick served as the President of Worldwide Studios for Electronic Arts and in july 2007 they practically switched jobs. Is sony a saint? Hell no. Sony even tried to screw their customers with the PS2 DVD drive fiasco. All those companies see one thing, the bottom dollar and they all have blood on their hands. When sony tried to screw everyone with the ps2 situation we were vocal and we spoke out, they were taken to court and they lost. we won. When microsoft screwed us with the RROD we were vocal, they were taken to court. We won. At the end of the day whenever a company is doing shit we have the right to speak up.

If you want to sit there and say that EA is not showing favoritism to microsoft especially knowing the history of their relationship and how it was formed then you are just as much of a hypocrite as EA is and you'll probably fit in very well when they and microsoft are having their board meetings discussing how they can rape and pillage the pockets of every other gamer out there.

Titan is EA's answer to Activision COD or Destiny. Destiny and COD will be available on PS4 from the get go. By the time Titan fall releases it will not be able to compete with Destiny on PS4 at least. With how things are going the PS4 will lead sales.

Well, in all honesty, there was a lot of BF4 talk in re: PS4 lately (good or bad). It opened at MS E3 conference but has since only shown on PS4 HW - never on a XBone console (E3 was all PC). Probably a reaction to pre-order numbers?

No one said bundle's were bad but it is a move of desperation, not generosity from MS. Tbh, I don't think it will work. Consumers are not dumb these days, they'll see that buying a PS4 and FIFA 14 still holds more value.

We can see that.... Almost all EA titles are timed exclusives for XB1, BF4 timed exclusive DLC, Fifa 14 exclusive UTL mode for Xbox platform, Fifa 14 bundle with every XB1 pre order while stocks last, Titan Fall (possibly timed exclusive), probably missing some things. We could see all of this at the EA's GC conference. XB1 was mentioned a lot of times. When they said this was an unprecedented partnership they weren't joking.

From what we have seen all Sony is doing is embracing the indie community and giving them a platform where they can stay independent like on PC, Nintendo and mobile platforms. So you're saying Sony is paying all indie devs like the guys who make War Frame and War thunder from going to the Xbox platform. When they have said multiple times the only thing blocking them is MS policies with F2P games atm and their recent indie policy change from being in motion because it's currently in beta. Embracing and being in the pocket are not the same thing.

I think the FIFA move is good but in Europe FIFA is very much associated with Playstation. The shear amount of ads and the sponsorship of the CL won't be easily forgotten. I think the FIFA deal will help MS, no doubt, but i'm not sure it will be enough to win back many consumers. They did some real damage to themselves as a brand.

1. These time exclusive does not benefit any gamer. It only benefit true fanboys of a particular console for whatever reason.

2. This only gives 3rd parties more power with no value whatsoever to gamers and the industry as a whole. No new ip is created, now new people are hired, no new business. This is just money being paid to block the release on another console for a certain period of time.

Unless you work for MS or a fanboy you would support such dickhead move. The same applies to Sony.

I don't mind if a console holder hires or fund development using 2nd or 3rd parties talent like is the case with Sony with QD or MS with Epic. These deals hires people and create IP's that otherwise might not have been made through regular 3rd party development pipeline.

I do however have a big issue if a game that was planned by a 3rd party publisher to be multi-plat end up being time exclusive because a certain platform holder has paid money to withhold release on competing platform.

These moves are an act of desperation on MS's part because they have failed to invest in proper 1st party exclusives and are now frantically trying to catch up.

Timed exclusives are a mutual relationship between the console maker and the developer/publisher of said game. Obviously these are businesses and do not have to agree to any timed exclusive content if they choose not to. By releasing on one console earlier than another, they are practically cutting themselves out of a bunch of sales, so it only makes sense that the console maker would pay them a sum to try and make up the difference. Remember, all these companies are public. They have a board of investors to answer to. If it wont make them more money or increase projected sales in the future they would have no reason to commit to any exclusives.

Lets also not forget that there is another aspect to this that a lot of people dont seem to comprehend. A third party developer or publisher has incentive to help out the underdog. If timed exclusives can increase sales for a console, it in turn increases the user base for not only the console but their future games as well. It would only make sense to help a platform increase sales to indirectly increase their own sales as well.

To touch on your two points.

1) Timed exclusives certainly do benefit some gamers. Whatever platform the timed exclusive is on will see increased sales and the games for that platform can utilize that timed content. To say no gamers benefit makes no sense. I certainly benefited from the timed exclusive DLC for Skyrim.

2) Besides my points in the first two paragraphs about this, New exclusive IPs certainly are created from third parties.

Man, I just wish that both MS and Sony would leave third party publishers out of their business plans. On the MS side of the scale it just makes them look lazy. Instead of creating new and exciting games they throw money at third party devs to stop the release of games and DLC content on playstation consoles. How awesome would it be if consoles were like blu-ray players? They could both still be made by very different companies and have unique features and accessories, but both would play the exact same movies. If you want The Last of Us, Killzone, or Uncharted on Xbox, "Sure, go for it." and if I want Halo I could play it on a Sony branded machine. Everyoe says that a one console future would be bad because of the lack of competition, but when I look at the PC I can't help but think they're wrong. It would come down to the publishers competing with eachother to make the best games possible on all platforms.
