The 3 Worst Video Games of 2013 So Far

The 2013 video game release season is slowly transitioning out of the dog days of summer into the fall months, which are always packed with triple-A titles, yearly blockbuster-sized sequels, and this year a whole new generation of video game hardware and software. For the most part the first eight months of 2013 have been packed with some amazing video game experiences, and some consider it to be one of the best years ever as far as top-notch gaming experiences go. With that being said there still have been some turds that have made it to market, so it’s a great time to reflect on three of the worst video game experiences of 2013.

Mind you that this list is solely based on video games that EB has played and reviewed, because it could surely feature a few other lackluster titles that EB hasn’t had the time to waste on.

GoW Ascension Number 3.
Review Score: 7 out of 10

I guess that was a tremendous year, then.

tacotruck3888d ago

He does state that it is based solely on games he has played and reviewed personally, so that could have a lot to do with it.

ShugaCane3888d ago

Well he hasn't played many games then, cause a 7 out of 10 game making it to a list of "Worst Games" ? Seriously ? Plus, GoW has nothing to do here. It's not the best GoW that's for sure, but it's still one damn good game. The guy should play the Walking Dead game. Now that's a bad game.

Ezio20483888d ago

God of war Ascension is not as good as gow3 but it is nowhere near to be included in worst game of the year list......its still a very good game

iamnsuperman3888d ago (Edited 3888d ago )

It may be from what he has played but this game should be there:

Ride to Hell: Retribution

So bad

TenBensons3888d ago

That game looked shockingly bad. I watched about 30 mins of a lets play and it made me question my existence in the worst possible way.

Krimmson3888d ago

I actually beat the game. It is so hilariously bad that I just had to keep on going.

One of the funniest things in the game is a part in the beginning of the game where a gang is chasing you and your brother with their choppers.
When one of them comes up to you, you have to mash a button to hit them and make them swerve out. However you sit still and let them hit you once, they'll just drive away and soon spontaneously explode.

I think broke my jaw from sheer laughter when that happened.

HarryMasonHerpderp3888d ago (Edited 3888d ago )

I liked God Of War Ascension but I can understand why some people were disappointed with it.
Calling it one of the worst games this year though is stupid. One of the most disappointing? maybe. Worst? no where near.

ritsuka6663888d ago

This game is not polished enough to be called a God of War game.

AznGaara3888d ago

Lol it's really not. I had glitches everywhere during my play through. Still enjoyed it though.

ritsuka6663888d ago (Edited 3888d ago )

This game is a disappointment. do not get the wrong idea, this is a great game but it just is not as good like God of War 3.

miyamoto3888d ago

have you played it or not?

gow:a beats gow iii in terms of graphics, mind you
i hope you have 20/20 vision

Angainor73888d ago (Edited 3888d ago )

The worst by far was Gears of War: Judgment.

In general i thing the 2 last gows (Ascension / Judgment) weren't necessary..

Funantic13888d ago

Yeah I was disappointed with last Gears of War and God of War. Both sucked big time. They got one chance to make another great game or I'll give up on the series.

Lord_Sloth3888d ago

DmC: Devil may Cry needs to be in all 3 slots of this list.

WeAreLegion3888d ago (Edited 3888d ago )

I take it you didn't actually play the game?

EDIT: And you didn't like it?!? I'm a huge DMC fan and I was upset that Capcom made Ninja Theory change the look of Dante and reboot the series, but I thought it turned out pretty darn well. Most reviewers loved it, too.

Lord_Sloth3888d ago

Actually I did play the game on my brother's PC.

Lord_Sloth3888d ago

Reviewers are so wishy washy I never put any stock in them anymore.

I thought the gameplay was lackluster and the autolock was a chore. The music was easily the worst aspect of the game.

All this said, I wouldn't have been so hard on it if it were a new IP but since it wasn't, it had a certain standard to live up to. It failed.

Yes yes I'm down to play this so badly.

anast193d ago

Oh, f$%&! They better not mess this up. Trek is miles better than any other Sci-fi franchise.

JackBNimble193d ago

I agree, at the same time no one can seem to make a decent StarTrek game.

I'm with you ... they better not fk this up

Solitariussaint193d ago

Keep up the good work!

They listened and made a physical version of Star Trek Resurgence, which I've pre-ordered, and I hope they make this new game both offline friendly and physical as well!

Icey7193d ago

Immediate reaction - excited for new story driven Star Trek game.

Then I go and check GameXcite's website and see that the only thing they have released are a few Asterix games.

Set expectation to low

This is very cool. I played many versions of Super Star Trek, some text based and some with rudimentary graphics. Back in the day, you’d get games like this off a floppy disk from a friend. I also played the 25th Anniversary Star Trek game. Cool to see a melding of the two.

This fan remake of a Star Trek text game from 1978 is way better than it has any right to be

Super Star Trek 25th is a remake / conversion of the strategy game Super Star Trek, written by Bob Leedom and David Ahl and published in the book BASIC Computer Games in 1978, mixed with the graphics of Star Trek: 25th Anniversary and the voices from ST The Original Series
