Comparing Killzon:Shadowfall to Ryse: Son of Rome is kind of dumb. They both are going high on graphics, but that's it.

Killzon has multiplayer and Ryse will have co-op, so far nothing else has been mentioned. Also they are completely different genres.

I actually went with PS4 first as well. I mean with Killzone SF, DriveClub(retail), AC4, COD and BF4..plus F2P im gonna have plenty to hold me down til more exclusives come out for PS4.

Killzone vs ryse... hmm..two differnt types of games..like comparing apples and oranges really..do you prefer apples (FPS) or oranges (hack and slash)?

same goes for DR3 Vs knack. too different to really compare and more a question of what genres you prefer.

war frame will end up on X1 aswell..and based on my own personal experience (anybody with a steam account and a half descent graphics card can play it RIGHT NOW)..its an average game at best. its only getting attention because its coming to ps4.

planetside2 is fun for a while..then I got bored and went back to hawken..which is more fun.

DC and black light are hardly going to rock anybodies world...but war thunder looks like it will be fun.

Killzone is about as interesting as watching paint dry... Part 2 was oooooooooo k at best. Played it for a month then ditched it. It has no personality, seems so generic.

Sony really dropped the ball on launch line up. Imagine if they would've told Naughty Dog to make Last of Us a launch game. With all this momentum and a game like that at launch they couldve done very well but now they are letting MS catch up again.

I think MS went out og their way to land a good line up because they were doing things that might have rubbed gamers the wrong way. So they loaded up on games. Well, the back lash caused them to reverse their strategy but all the games they invested in are still there. This worked out perfect for X1 owners.

Guys just get both but honestly MS has a better launch line up if you are a gamer.

The article has one great point that I never considered.

Why is it, that every time I say "Titanfall is going to be fantastic", PS4 fans jump all over me and say "its on PC too, I'm getting it for PC!"... as if all those PS4 fans who spew junk about "PC elitism" suddenly have high-end PCs.

But, at the same time, when PS4 fans say "look at all the exclusives and awesome F2P like Planetside2, Warframe, and Warthunder" everyone goes "yeah, HIGH 5, woohoo Sony!" as though PCs don't exist, and all that whining about F2P is suddenly... a distant memory.

I think the double standard is quite funny. I'll be getting a PS4 in the launch window merely for the fact that I don't have a nice PC, and those F2P games are the best looking multiplayer games on the console. But at least I'm man enough to admit it.

Killzone doesn't interest me at all, I've never played any of them, mostly because I can't play a shooter with the awful PS controller.

Quite honestly, I don't know if I should keep my PS4 pre-order at this point. I won't use it until Infamous Second Son comes out anyway.

Just gonna put my thoughts out there...

Driveclub is a new franchise, it's unfair to say that it is nowhere near the standard of a game such as Forza.

Also, Driveclub is much more akin to PGR (a former Xbox staple) but I have seen many interviews stating that the guys spent A LOT of time trying to get the balance between sim and arcade to maximise FUN - which is the most important thing. What is comparable is the cars, Driveclub may be half-arcade-half-sim, but other than the handling, it's goal is out and out realism. It looks AMAZING and that developer at E3 stating that they made the effort to make sure every imperfection in the carbon fiber, and the way light behaves across the textures and surfaces of the cars interior is fully replicated means it could possibly be ahead of Forza in terms of detail! You just need to see some of these interviews; the depth of detail that they are going into is bordering on insane.

This game intrigues me, and it's brilliant that we will get a skimmed down version with PS+ to try out. You never know, it might be amazing and earn my money for the full game! (which is discounted with PS+ too)

Killzone looks really good too, not just with Guerrilla always creating stunning looking games, but the fact that they have moved away from the grey and brown of old. The new game looks vibrant.

Knack, for me, looks... well, cute. If that's the right word. Doesn't really look like a game I'd buy and looks like it's a bit of a tribute to the older generations. Has a bit of a Ratchet vibe about it (I love R&C) but to be quite honest it just looks a bit too childish for my liking. I'll wait for reviews.

@DejectedJeff You really are dejected aren't you? Possibly even delusional... Driveclub IS a full game, just because we get a reduced version of the game with PS+ doesn't mean otherwise. Correct me if I'm wrong, but PS+ has a bit of a habit of spitting out great FULL games of late. Also, I don't see those F2P games being available on XBone do I? You get a PS4 and you have 5 free fully fleshed out games and you don't even need PS+. Don't even try to pretend that this doesn't matter. Oh, and to claim that FPS games are pretty much irrelevant is laughable.

I won't argue your guys opnions but there are numerous sources out there that say GT is more realistic in multiple areas and that Forza just isn't yet.

All that aside PC sims are real sims and there is a reason they are far more accurate then Forza and GT is closer to them.

Not one real race driver has ever or will ever use forza for training. That in itself disproves forza as a true accurate SIM racer. The problem also is hasn't Forza said they were a sim racer sinc like #2? When in reality Forza 2 and 3 are so far from a sim its not a debate with 4 being as close to they have come and still they have articles out there showing the multiple areas forza is not true in simulation mode. Just examples Brakes, Weight, Tires and drift.

Why is it that Sony fanboys are always claiming to have gaming PCs whenever a game comes out on PC and Xbox 360 (like The Witcher 2, Left 4 Dead, Alan Wake, etc), but now they all seem so excited to play a bunch of free to play and indie games on their future PS4s that are available on the PC?

Surely if they really did all have gaming PCs as they have repeatedly claimed, they would simply play those games on their PCs. Not only are the graphics and framerate performance better on PC, but they could be enjoying most of those games RIGHT NOW.

I had planned to get a PS4 at or around launch, but I had expected more interesting games. As a PC gamer, most of those indie games and F2P games are on or will be on PC.

Knack looks generic. The graphics look almost current gen in quality and the gameplay looks stale.

Killzone Shadow Fall looks decent, but nothing amazing. It looks like Killzone 3.5 overall.

Infamous Second Son looks quite good, but I don't know if I need to buy a console right away just to play one game.

I prefer ps over xbox but i game on everything.

ill answer that question for me on both systems.

I prefer the unified friends list and ease of access to games then on PC. For example i have multiple friends list on PC and the diversity in games makes it hard for us all to agree and play the same game constantly. For ex. Battlefield finding friends on there is sometimes cumbersome and then getting in the same room and ease of playing is just not as easy as friends lists and lobbies in console games. Ill admit i only played bf3 on pc for about 5hrs so maybe that was easier navigated but bf2 and 2142 were a task for me.

I do own a custom built PC i do play it a bunch but i usually play SP games on it due to graphics i like to keep my Consoles for online MP due to ease of playing and getting people all on the same game.

Bonus round: The community on PC vs consoles is vastly different and PC in my experience tends to have people who play one game for a very long time where on consoles buddies usually will get games together and always play them together. I am not saying my experience is the norm by any means i am simply saying my experience over the last however many years of MP takeover.

Bottom line it's a poor article and flamebait. He didn't even say what game made him switch, just it was all about the games. Both consoles don't have stellar launch line-ups.

I'll be getting both eventually, I just will get my PS4 first. Why? Because I still don't agree with the M$ forcing the Kinect on me since it's no longer mandatory to use the console. Also I want to see how their policies will be 6 months down the line (just praying that they don't have a 360 and say we are going back to the E3 design).

I'm have a Ps4 pre-ordered and 2 xbox ones. But honestly looking at the launch line up, I might take the $400 dollars I have on my ps4 and buy 7 more launch games for my xbox ones. I'm actually thinking about it. I will still end up getting the ps4, but I'll wait for a game that I'll actually play before spending the money.

Xbox One has clear advantages to me.

1. Gaming with friends (better online & community with dedicated servers)

2. Better launch games (look better, play better according to all the awards they have already won)

3. Better features packed into the box (Kinnect 2.0) Snap, Skype, TV integration, voice, gesture, face recognition, Smartglass!

It's so obvious that its almost funny. Anyone that talks about RAM difference, needs to understand that the same ram that's used in the BEST Gaming PC setups, is the same RAM that the xbox ONE uses. If it's good enough for the best gaming rig, it's good enough for a console. Also it's been proven that more of the xbox one's ram can be allocated for games than the ps4.

To switch or not to switch that is the question.I think I'll stay with the PS4 for two reasons.1st is I don't think MS is finished switching(pun intended).In other words I would not be surprised if MS brought back all they changed once MS is happy with the size of their fan base.And 2nd,Personally I was not happy with the support MS has shown first the Xbox and now the 360 as their life cycles neared the end.I want to see if MS has switched their ways and actually makes exclusives well into the 1's life cycle.This is just my opinion.

X1 early adopters aren't forward thinking. Xbox has always historically had good luanch lineups with Halo 1 for Xbox and all the timed exclusive games for Xbox 360. This doesn't change anything. And then historically the xbox fizzles out later in the generation with few exclusives.

The X1 early adopters are the same crowd over and over again. They deserve to lose there money. All they can see is a few feet forward anyway.

The gpu is what does most of the rendering work when gaming on a pc. And uses ddr5 your comment makes you look foolish.

whats ironic is pre-E3 the forums all around lit up about xbones reveal, suggesting gaming was not a focus on it. yet fast forward and the line-up is not only strong but some think it's stronger than the ps4's.

still, m$ biggest stumbling block is the price and why kinect is needed. it's the same stumbling block nintendo faces at a time new hardware is coming while there system is more than current hardware and not being nearly as powerful as either the xbone or the ps4. a hundred dollar difference is a lot for some people but that camera is expensive. now they have to show how it's applicable for gaming to the hardcore since they are often the ones who buy consoles first. we know the new kinect is far superior but it has to be applied in ways gamers want to use it.

Titan Fall (The graphics aren't that great, but the gameplay looks sick!), Spark and Ryse: Son of Rome

I think now that the dust is settling, content and features are starting to win over.

That said, it is interresting because it seems Sony is not on track with their software. The launch lineup is mostly smaller indie games. Supposed AAA games like Driveclub was only 35% complete at E3. Somehow this is to be completed, tested, refined and go gold for production by November 15?

I am pretty sure he is aware of that..hence why he is buying it later. Infamous is also the game I really want a ps4 to start with. point is at launch..if you are going to buy both, you get the one that has the most games that you want to play RIGHT NOW. I would rather play forza 5,DR3,Ryse and killer instinct in november than killzone, driveclub or knack. So I may aswell wait a little while till a game I want comes out for it, namely infamous2. Drive club is not free- if you buy ps+ you get a lite version which includes a few cars and and 7 of the 52 available tracks. I am not saying the game is lacklustre but the package certainly is. Killer instinct is no better and to actually play the game you are going to need to spend 20-40$.

However a full fledged copy of fifa 14 in europe is killer- it is one of the top selling yearly franchises in europe. Fifa to europeans is esential- it is like giving them an extra controller so yes it is a genius move (and no you don't need to buy gold) and adds great percieved value to the package. Sure you save 40$ by buying ps4 and fifa- but the extra 40$ will get you kinect and a slew of features unavailable top the ps4. The fifa consumer will appreciate this so will the call of duty players when it comes to dedicated servers. I have been on call of duty message boards and a number of them are jumping ship for the xbox one because this so yes these are genius moves from microsoft in attempting to grab the consumers of the two best selling franchises.

I canceled my PS4 preorder when X1 did the 180. I'm still favoring the PS4 because playstation has a track record of not giving up on the console after the first year, unlike MS. That and better indie support, which is like one of the most important things to me.

But I'm basically waiting for exclusives that really convince me to buy one of the two systems. There are none of those at the moment.

Motherload is a web game that can be played on pretty much any browser device. Tiny Brains will also ship on PC so it is not exclusive. So you are down to Counterspy, the DC Universe port to PS4, Doki-Doki Universe, Hohokum, Pool Nation, and Resogun... That is up against the following probable download titles on X1... Lococycle, Peggle 2 (timed exclusive), Killer Instinct, Zoo Tycoon, Crimson Dragon, Powerstar Golf, and Fighter Within... All new versions and none will ship on other platforms before or simultaneously with X1. Lococyle by Twisted Pixel will probably provide enough gameplay to run circles around the Sony digital lineup. Nevermind the full featured fighting game Killer Instinct.

I think it is very easy to argue the launch lineup is in sony's favor, but that would be pointless because the only people reading this article are those too proud to admit Microsoft just screwed up their launch and probably their platform this generation. I think last generation got some people confused, with playstation having the responsibility of carrying blu ray into every home; it took a huge stress on its market share as a game console (late launch and unique hardware). I have always been a dual console owner and I have much Love for the PlayStation brand. So I will buy a ps4 because brand loyalty, familiarity, and 15 years of dedication not too Sony but the PS brand.

MS played the safe game by just including the CD/DVD drive in the console, the CD/DVD at the time was a proven format and everybody was using them. MS tried to swing the market in their favour with the HD Drive but we all know how that turned out

I never switched, MS had all the right games and a true next gen vision. I might get a PS4 down the line when some games come out but if all they have is KZ and Driveclub... Then they are in for a lot of trouble. X1 is king of FPS so I wont miss KZ one bit, and drive club will be in Forzas Shadow... All other games are multi-plat and look identical.

What's up with tons of people being like launch line up this and launch line up that...... When has it really ever mattered? Or should matter. Launch line ups are just to give us something to play. They are never the bread and butter of consoles.

Now if one cares to own one of the 2, my personal suggestion is for these persons to look to the history of gaming from both Sony and Microsoft. Which ever policies, major decisions, and exclusive titles matter most to the individual, go for their next-gen system (that is if you don't have the patience to wait for future exclusive releases).

People seem to forget that Sony pulled the same stuff last gen, "Think our console is too expensive, get two jobs it is worth it." Yet people kept running back after an abysmal launch and some horrible policies and price.

X1 was at least smart and showed Mattrick the door before the console launched and someone competent in charge. You may call them 180s but this is not Mattrick console, they just fixing everything that people had a problem with because the new Xbox leader actually realizes that the gamer decides what sells, they don't. You can't fault them for that. Also, 2014 and even 15 already is looking bright for X1. Mattrick wanted the casuals then tried to wrangle back in the hardcore, but the new community leaders knows the fan base that built their console and I am excited to see where they take it.

Your post history suggests you did indeed switch. But I feel your decision is as much of a knee-jerk reaction as any of Microsoft's own 180s and it's hard to see exactly what changed your mind in the last 8 days.

The reasoning in your opinion piece is pretty flimsy and short-sighted - sorry if that sounds harsh but your points not only fail to convince, they look a little haphazard and repeat the same thoughts. You claim to be platform-agnostic - a fan and supporter of all systems. If you are truly as multi-platform as you would have us believe, you'd do the sensible thing and pick up the ps4 at launch and buy a One next year when a Kinect-less SKU arrives.

OK, not everyone thinks that will happen and apparently you believe in the Kinect 2.0 as a gaming device (someone has to I suppose) but it's odd seeing efforts like UBI's game at GC with the same old problems of latency. I think people are right when they say it'll never be what Microsoft wanted it to be and won't be fooled into thinking they need one a second time.

So hold off and see what Microsoft do in Q1 and Q2 next year. If they're not struggling in third place behind the WiiU and Kinect lives up to its promise by all means go for it. You won't have lost out as all those games you wish to play on One are on your PC bar 1 or 2 titles.

Otherwise it seems like such a hefty gamble for the sake of 1 or 2 games to me, games it's likely you've never even seen running first hand and have only witnessed in videos via devkits (there hasn't been a single production-specced release-ready Xbox One shown publicly anywhere so far, despite what people claim. Well my view....

XBox One at launch. PS4 maybe in early 2014 once I see how the system works and is received.

XBox has better launch lineup in my opinion. Proven multiplayer Eco system. Free copy of FIFA 14 in UK which is a big deal. Confirmed dedicated servers for CoD ( I know PS4 will also likely have but what if not?).

After seeing the gameplay video of Forza 5 at Laguna Seca and the footage of Ryse, CoD and Dead Rising at Gamescom running without doubt on the hardware I'm sold. All of those games looked amazing especially the new Forza demo which blew me away.

But when your buying both that is a moot point. when 5 years passes one of three things happen.

1)your ready for a new console.

My friends, family and clansmen. they are ALL staying with Xbox..and I know who I preffer to play multiplayer games with..the people I know. I would rather play BF4 with the people I always have done..and they will be playing titan fall, destiny on X1.

Well my whole point was predicated on somebody buying only one console, at least for a while. I even stated as such. I just think that launch lineups have an overblown importance. I mean let's say the PS3 sold around 7 million in its first year, the other 70 million came afterwards and the launch lineups had little to no bearing on those decisions.

Anyways, I think a lot of people are going to stick with what they know and what their friends are doing. There's nothing wrong with that. I mean most of my friends were Xbox 360 gamers (I even bought the 360 first); but now every one of them is going PS4. Casual games? Have you played Last of Us? Uncharted? God of War? Rachet & Clank? Crash? You Xbots are making assumptions and are so oblivious. PS4 lineup is as great as the Xbox One lineup. I'm a fanboy, but I can see it from both sides and honestly you have a pretty nice line up, but over time you have no First Party exclusives. Over the years. As time goes on, it just keeps getting proven that XB1 is the better console...even the "paper spec advantage" of the PS4 is disappearing quickly...all this time, and the "gamer's console" can't prove that it makes better games, just more indie games that they call exclusive. Not to mention it bought a new network (gaikai) back in 2012 for $360-380 million dollars...and it's "so amazing" that it hasn't even launched yet, and isn't expected to until well into 2014...meanwhile the already amazing XBL AND it's $700 Million upgrade will be ready at launch. If you aren't crazy about PS4 exclusives, there really is NO reason to get one...I was convinced that this gen I would have to get both consoles at launch again, but so far Sony has proven that I can save the $450 and use it on XB1 games.

I've owned every console but got my Xbox 360 with the Gears of Wars launch in 2006. Got my PS3 with the launch of Final Street Fighter 4 and Final Fantasy 12.

I got the WiiU because of Bayonetta 2 and upcoming Nintendo Franchises(I think I may have purchased too early at a premium).

I did have the Vita and bought $100 Proprietary SD card at 32GB(Never again I tell you, Never again). The vita was sold for a laptop a while back.

I will be getting the XboxOne next then the PS4 later on. It is really simple..

-Launch games(Stop lying to yourself if you think otherwise)

-Dedicated Server Support(MS spend millions so the Devs won't)

-XBL(Already the best for the last 10 years)

-Microsoft's Cash (infrastructure support will go a long way in 10 years).

-Microsoft is doing some new things as opposed to Sony which is all about Raw Spec bump from the PS3.

-Sony announce many things but when you look at their financial situation and how they never explain sh!t, you gotta wonder how will they deliver? Think about it!

[Current Xbox gamers] - If you feel Jaded with MS turn-arounds, You have every right. Jump Ship. Best of Luck.

I'm going to say this. If you get X1 because you like the launch line up over PS4 than you are an idiot, because look this has nothing to do with the actual launch line up.

X1 is $100 more than PS4 and its less powerful than the PS4 so your paying more for inferior hardware, secondly unless you plan to play those launch games from release date to the release of the XTWO than the games to come after them won't ever match what PS4 will be putting out.

Just look at this gen Sony have kept on putting out game after game after game of varying genres and gameplay all the while MS has put out a few Halo & Gears games.

Hey I'd say that people buying xbox one for launch titles to be extremely shortsighted. Just consider that 360 had the better launch line up and for the first 3 years had the 'best' exclusives (many of which ended up on the PS3) and how there are absolutely pathetic offerings for 360 this year?

Also Sony has consistently released new IP after new IP. Case in point this year alone new Sony IP's - Beyond, The Last of US, Journey, Puppeteer, Rain. New 3rd party games Ni No Kuni, Dragons Crown, Guided Fate Paradox, Time and Eternity etc. Other 3rd party games (couple dozen including Tales of Xillia, Disgaea D2, KH HD, FF X/X-2 HD, FF XIV etc.)

360 exclusives, Dark (new IP), Gears Judgement, Fable HD.

If it's going to be a race then, I'm going to point out PS4 is outpacing Xbox One in preorders by a large margin and in the end launch titles have NOT helped xbox one turn the tide. All the changes in policies and exclusives announced and at retail there hasn't been much change which is where it matters. Also MS has literally said that they "Continue to support the 360", uhh..... ok what should I sell to my 360 customers this fall?! I've had so many formerly 360 groups turn into PS4 preorders it's not funny. Current PS4 preorders in my store 250 (preorders OPEN to day ones); Xbox One preorders 42 (Told to STOP taking anymore preorders).

Maybe MS will actually do something like support their gamers this time, but, considering how much they've changed their minds I highly doubt that.

Over the years, sony has proven to reward the gamer for their business, with a TON of free games through a cheaper online service, new and exciting exclusives (uncharted, heavy rain, the last of us, beyond two souls, etc)...

For the $60 a year, Microsoft offers... Multiplayer, party system/chat, and access to apps (Netflix etc)... They stopped trying with exclusives, solely relying on forza, gears and halo which have been beaten to death for too long and will continue to be. I had a 360 and ps3, while mainly preferring my 360 for gaming, but Sony has won me over. Kudos

As a fan of Sony, I preordered, and will be picking up a PS4 day one. I just like Sony's games. I loved the exclusives on PS3, and I am sure I will feel the same way on the 4. That's why I got it. Knack, I'll play, Drive Club, and Killzone I'll play. But Infamous is the one I am all giddy for, I will have my console, for when that thing hits early next year. To switch preorders based off a launch lineup, come summer of 14, the launch games will not even be thought about, we will be ready for the big fall releases that kinda push these babies.

Honestly the Xbox One is getting decent BUT the main reason from the start I didn't change to Xbox is because of Micro$oft. EVERY company is in it for the money but M$ (and Apple) take it to the next level! Xbox Live alone doesn't offer as much as I've had with PS+ and free PSN. PS+ has been awesome! BUT Xbox Live does have the better quality online service but personally I don't care because I've never had too many issues with PSN. When people compare both it makes PSN sound like it goes down often or too slow or something but it offers what is needed! PERIOD! At least for me. Maybe some experience other shit I don't but if they do maybe it's due to their internet because even with my 6Mb in Spain I still get 1Mb bandwidth and play great with any lag or issues coming from games, not PSN. So yeah. PS4 for me although if I ever get enough money and after 2 years, I might get the Xbox One assuming it's gotten better which it should naturally do unless M$ becomes as retarded as they were when they announced the console. Games? Both have amazing games. No exclusive IPs to chose one or the other though. Best games are multi-platform so whatever. PS4 has Killzone & inFAMOUS for me and Xbox One has Dead Rising 3 for me. DR3 looks SICK! Still thinking PS4 will be #1 this gen but Xbox One not far behind if they keep up with good changes and more things for gamers and less expensive as possible.

Launch titles do not make a console for the entirety of their lifetime but also who says that all these games are going to live up to their hype? Probably the example closest to my heart is Brink. Looked amazing, loads of customisation and that parkour running. Turned out to be pretty damn disappointing.

I personally am going for PS4 because over the PS3s lifetime I reckon it's churned out games more to my taste and most of those developers are coming to the next gen. Then there's the multiplatforms.

I make an effort to only own one console per generation because out of other people's experience there's always a main console and one that gets played maybe a few times a year depending on games.

Despite all that I'd say if you're a social gamer then get the one the majority of your friends are getting and please leave people who don't own the same console alone. Be happy with your choice :)

My comment to the original article is posted on DigitalWhip and by the way I've been a dual console owner since Sega Genesis and NES each had their pros and cons. However as my life has grown priorities changed Sony has come to more than satisfy my gaming pleasure for every genre of game. The original Xbox offered some great pleasures with (Halo, Crimson Skies, KOTOR, Jade Empire, Panzor Dragoon, Psychonauts, Morrowind, Splinter Cell, Mech Assault, ESPN 2K5 Football, & Full Spectrum Warrior just to name a few. Of lately MS has not impressed as the games I mentioned nothing on the 360 came close to these in gameplay or graphics for their day. Sadly most of these developers are no longer around or as they originally were and I see nothing Xbox One is currently offering to change that. Now this may happen after it is released hopefully by 2014 until then Sony has my wallet exclusively.
