Kotaku had a hunch it was going to be possible, and, now, the people who rate video games are letting the cat out of the dimebag. You can smoke pot in GTA V, according to the Entertainment Software Ratings Board. That same group has offered a bunch of other mild spoilers for GTA V, if you're interested.

Agree. It's a lovely...lovely substance. Unfortunately, legalization may never happen. Why? It works better than most prescription drugs out there and if it were legal...more people would smoke a bowl than pay hundreds of dollars for pills. Shame really...it could wipe out the national debt in a year or so if the Gov sold it to us.

And yet you still run into legality issues with weed in both of those places.

Sure it's legal in Amsterdam....if you're a local. Weed has been illegal for foreigners for a year or so now. The government is tolerant of it but with laws like that coming into effect I would not hold your breath on that holding out forever. They are already cracking down on psychedelics.

Of course it's technically illegal in Vancouver but it's not like a large amount of people really care. Your current prime minister is trying to change that though (for the worst).

Meanwhile it's totally legal a few miles south of Vancouver in Washington and of course Colorado as well. I mean at the Seattle Hempfest this past weekend cops were handing out bags of doriotos labeled with what you can and can't do under the law.

Let me repeat, COPS WERE HANDING OUT DORITOS TO A CROWD OF STONERS....IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,

Now this has a long way to go to spread across the US. Still I'm usually the first to hate on the stupidity of US drug laws but it looks like all the "weed friendly" places are starting to fall while the US is letting it become legal??

What alternate reality have I slipped into??? I just wish I was in Seattle and not in the middle of the bible belt conservatives here in North Carolina. Jesus I can't wait to get out of here.

In British Columbia, starting in September there is a petition to have a referendum on legalizing pot. The official petition only need 10% of registered voters to go to referendum. And it's estimated that 75% of BC votes do not support the current laws - so we'll see soon.

Make no mistake I am fucking jealous. I just got back from my first trip to the west coast, Washington state non the less. I fell in love with Seattle. The music scene was everything I loved and people simply weren't conservative assholes. While I never made it to Canada I imagine the scene between Vancouver and Seattle has to be somewhat similar in these aspects. I did however kayak around the San Juan Islands so I was kind of in between Vancover and Victoria :)

But I'm stuck in this place known as North Carolina where weed and the devil mean the same thing to 90% of the people. If they only knew how backwards that logic was...

This might sound silly but...

I wonder if you can actually smoke it whenever you want, or if you have to go to a place, enter and you come out coughing, etc?

I think it would be cool if dealers walked around on the streets and you could buy it that way, AND what would be even cooler is if some of them were undercovers and could bust you.

OR you could sell it yourself...

Even though I don't smoke(or drink really) I think it would be fun in-game to smoke and cruise the streets....even online with friends.

Yeah I also hope it's something you can do really in-game, as in walk around and experience the GTA world with a slightly different perception! Hell it'd be great if they covered the whole range of recreational drugs!

Online would be hilarious. A whole bunch of friends get drunk and stoned and run around town, better yet drunk racing or something. None of these things which anyone would actually condone doing in real life :p
