Now that the X1 launch is out of the bag, the PS4 will launch at the same date, maybe some days early or not. I'm sure Sony doesn't want to run into a situation where the PS4 is sold out and only XBoxes are left. And I see no danger of direct competition for Sony here.

I'm pretty sure it'll sell out. I don't really expect to get one before January. Not lining up and not pre-ordering either (is pointless now - those are all gone anyway). I expect it to sell better than the PS3 and that was sold out till Jan or something.

And while that is all fine, I am sure Sony doesn't want to end up with empty shelves while XBones are readily available. So, no, I don't think they will start selling before MS. A couple of days maybe, not too much ahead, though, and sure not after.

Completely serious. AC IV, BF4, Watch Dogs, etc. are launching with the console, right? And what do the publishers say about their next gen versions? "Also coming to next gen consoles" because they most likely are just as much in the dark as we are (I think it was Bethesda who talked about how they know just as much as us when it comes to these things). It seems like a guess.

I just...I just want the console as soon as possible, lol.

EDIT: Maybe not Watch Dogs, since it comes out in November. But I don't know.

Hopefully it's just placeholder dates, but our electronics guy at Target says right around Black Friday for both systems. The PS4's listed as 11/30/13 on the website, while the XB1 doesn't have a site-listed date, but I was told it'd be the day before Thanksgiving.

Not sure I believe either one, though.

Doesn't bother me, whichever launches first I'll be playing. Rather I go to GameStop to pickup my launch PS4 in October/December, or I head to GameStop to pick up my launch XB1 in November and PS4 in December.

Either way, I hope they release 2/3 weeks apart so that I can enjoy either console before I pick up the console that releases last.

If the rumored October 21st date does come true that will really catch Microsoft off guard, they are doing everything in their power to have consoles for November even decreasing the countries to launch from 21 to 13. I think Sony is in good shape and about ready. I think they are waiting on the games and if Ps4 is out in the wild before X1, then Ps4 may catch many COD players as that comes out around the 5th, I don't think X1 will be out on the 5th.

Cant see it being before mid November,production cant fully be ramped up till Sept and if it did come out say Oct that would mean roughly 1.5m Playstations for launch (1m per month from Sept and a few hundred thousand beforehand).
As it takes roughly 2 weeks for systems to arrive in shops from production, and that's without any production problems.
Weve seen no pics of any Playstation production as of yet.
Personally I think its all getting tested behind closed doors with logistics/parts/assembly etc.
When we see a leaked production pic then we will know its officially started.
Im thinking 2.5m to 3m units max for this year,and that will in no way meet demand.

That seems logical, as a December release would not leave them enough time to sell a reasonable amount of consoles before 2014 and an October release is just wishful thinking from the gamer community. However, whatever the case may be, I'm hoping that they DON'T release worldwide. I'm a Sony fanboy and all but one that embraces competition. If Sony releases worldwide it will essentially be the nail in the coffin for Microsoft. I don't want to see Xbox disappear or do poorly; I want to see them succeed and inspire Sony to become better as a company. Naturally, I want Sony to come out on top but not by default. I want them to earn my money and Microsoft being a competitor makes that happen. Not to mention, I enjoy seeing the extreme fanboys banter back and forth over who has the best exclusives, hardware, better multi-plat, exc. So I truly hope that there isn't a world wide release for either company this year.
