Quake-Con 2013 is happening in Dallas, Texas this weekend, but there is, and has been for many years, a noticeable absence of Quake. IGN asked developer id Software’s studio director Tim Willits for a status report on the legendary shooter franchise.
Have you ever looked at a modern first-person shooter and wondered "How did we get here?" Wealth of Geeks performs a deep dive into the genre, including some of the most influential games, from the very first FPS from the cross-genre experiences that changed the game entirely.
Call of Duty owes everything to Quake, an iconic FPS game that is heavily discounted for PS5 players right now on the PlayStation Store.
"Quake II is a masterpiece; an enduring first-person shooter that shows iD Software at their technical and artistic best."

I would love to see another Quake game. It's too bad that no one played the Quake 4 multiplayer, which was really good like all the other quakes. Quake 2 on N64 was my favorite.

Give me a classic quake/doom with extremley sexy graphics.
If they make a new Quake, leave the future stuff to the Doom series and make a direct sequel to the original game. As for Rage, well, learn from your mistakes and move on iD.
I would LOVE a new Quake. I honestly don't know why Quake 4 wasn't more popular, besides the lackluster map selection, the gameplay was just as good as Quake 3's. Quake 4's graphics still look great to this day, a testament to Carmack and his team's coding prowess with their id Tech engines.
Hopefully they can make a comeback. I'm just tired of all these generic modern-day military shooters. Old-school arcade action is where it's at!
