Warframe Dev: "PS4's GDDR5 RAM Opens Up Possibilities for Extra Detail, Video Streaming"

Precisely. The PS4 will really come into its own a couple of years down the line. GDDR5 appears to be over-kill to some now, but it just goes a long way in ensuring that the PS4 will be more future proof.

Damn right, I can't wait to see all the future titles that will make use of the full capabilities of the PS4. I like to see more devs praising and preferring the PS4 as the primary benchmark for the next-generation.

Love the PS4 and all but these devs of Warframe talk like their game is the $hit, when it's severely lacking on PC. Gameplay got boring and repetitive. They need to add more stealth or something different that what is currently provided or planned.

It's not even as good as the trailer not to mention the levels are a cluster*uck and the match making is horrendoes because they can have you join a match that is all ready about to end or just ended.

It'd be different if it's Naughty Dog touting what they could do but these devs brag too much.

I can't tell you how excited I am for the GDDR5 RAM. My gaming PC only has 3 gigs of GDDR5 and I've yet to play a game that requires it all. So the 5-6 that we will get on the PS4 will be absolutely amazing; especially a few years down the road.

But that's an inadequate comparison. You're shouldn't be comparing 5-6GB of total memory as GDDR5 to the 3GB of GDDR5 that you have on your vidcard, since you've also got an additional 16GB of system memory that the PS4 doesn't have.

My PC is still rocking a GTX280 with GDDR3 1 Gig and I'm able to run all current games on pretty high if not ultra settings so Kudos to Sony for choosing ultra fast GDDR5 ram and 5 gigs available for games.

On ultra @ 800x600. You should try HD gaming. I heard it's pretty good lol.

When you increase the pixels you need like way more VRAM. Right now it's standard to have 2 GB GDDR5 or more for VRAM. With next gen coming up, the memory demand will be increased. Your GTX 280 is not going to last next gen. Time for upgrade =)

So GDDR5 is the fastest of those three (and it's usually a multiplier - so GDDR5 is 5x data rate whereas DDR3 is only 3x). The G is supposed to signify designed for GPUs, but often just is added for graphics cards with no real change in design. So DDR3 roughly equals GDDR3, and GDDR5 is faster. That said, you won't find main RAM labeled with the "G"

Yes its possible but your resolution is deff not at 1080p. Your fps would be almost unplayable. At least below 30 possibly even reaching low 20's at 1080p. You would be turning down some of the dx 11 features as well. Since that card doesnt support the features.

2 570's in SLI is almost on par with one single GTX 670. There is no way they were struggling. Unless you have a bad CPU that is bottlenecking them or, playing at resolutions over 1080p In that case then yes, I can understand and take what I said back.

The most demanding game currently is Metro Last Light and Crysis 3.
Metro with my current setup of 570's in SLI eats the game up nicely. The only thing I turn down is the A.A. I can run that game with v-synch on. The game reaches fps between 45-60. 60 Being 80% of the time.

Crysis 3 I can easily play with a combo of Very High and Extreme, or whatever the highest is called. Same results of 45-60 only difference is 60 fps is 70% of the time instead of 80%.

CPU is an i7 950, its a few years old but no game has maxed it out yet.

They said they were in the works of figuring that out, but there are some issues with it, mainly legal ones between Valve and Sony due to profits and such from use. Maybe they'll do a one time switch for players.(this is according to their livestream yesterday)

Its only logical otherwise NVIDIA and AMD would use DDR3 in their GPUS.
