More Jiggle Means More Empowerment

Lightning is going to have bigger breasts in the next Final Fantasy game. Good idea? Probably not...

This is becoming like Trolling, to say Lightning Breasts got Bigger and they Jiggle. They are still too small for many people to notice it!

Perhaps since Tomb Raider got her breast smaller, these Gaming News is having huge breasts deficiencies?

The sad thing is that people are making so a big deal out of this on both sides of the fence is actually counter productive to the true empowerment movement of women. Essentially people are getting upset because Lightning is sexualized slightly now.

Apparently having boobs makes her some sort of whore or slut. The whole thing is just stupid. Objectification and sexism have a hell of a lot more to do with intent and message being sent than how a character or person looks. These people saying otherwise have no clue as to what they are talking.

People are making such a big deal over the outfit that Lightning is wearing and boob job but what about all the women that go out and do revealing cosplay? Is women like Jessica Nigri being sexist and objectifying women because they are doing revealing cosplay? The Women's Right movement was about women having the right to be or do whatever they want without being harshly judged or punished because of it. If you look at the complaints coming out now, sexuality and revealing clothes is clearly being equated with being sexist and objectification. The whole thing is all sorts of backwards.

Although I don't have a problem with some of the stuff they are doing with her in this game; other things do annoy me. It's not because I think they are trying to objectify women or be sexist. I just think it's kind of out of character for Lightning.

Bayonetta is sexualized and I don't care. Why? Because that's Bayonetta. She was built around that.

blackmagic3920d ago

Frankly, I am kind of sick of the talk in the industry about the sexist portrayal of women in games not because it is wrong but because it is SO one sided. Seriously, I could get on board if the discussion recognized that the portrayal of ALL characters is sexist not just women but it doesn't. No where does anyone mention that the everyday man doesn't exactly look like Kratos from God of War or Marcus from Gears of War just to name a couple of prominent characters.

And just to be the devil's advocate on the whole issue, here's some real life professional atheletes:

Lightning has always been sexy

Elda3920d ago

Seeing these same lame articles is becoming tiresome...who cares.

NihonjinChick3920d ago

I have no problem with it. As long as it's not a completely unrealistic size and movement like in the DOA games.

Hicken3920d ago

They've said she's up to a D cup. Which, in the US, is more like a C cup. Her breasts were never that large in the first place, and they weren't exactly on display. For all we know, she had them wrapped, and now she doesn't.

And they didn't get much bigger, anyway.

Well, I'm a little sad, because I prefer smaller boobs on a woman- Tifa pissed me off, Lulu too- but I'll get over it, lol.

Godlovesgamers3920d ago

@Hicken

Knew I would find you here.

Hicken3920d ago

Well, I AM a fan of FF, so it makes sense for me to be here, right?

cleft53920d ago

I agree with what you said about some of the stuff they doing with Lightning seeming very out of character. I too don't think it's sexist, but it does seem off. Especially when you look at how her personality was in FF13 and Dissidia 012. Ultimately, I don't mind it because it's optional, but it does seem off.

Again?! Man, these feminists and/or manginas really know how to take their ball and run with it don't they?

"Unfortunately, this only highlights the video game industries more apparent misunderstanding of females."

Yes, one game means the entire industry has a misunderstanding of females. Also, females don't have large boobs and they certainly don't jiggle. All people are androgynous with no distinguishing features and should be displayed as such in games. Nothing, save for a person's personality, should be distinct about any character in games at all. /s

"Whether it be the overly sexualized women of Dead or Alive or the lack of female protagonists in games, women in video games are treated more like objects or a means to an end and are never the star of the show."

*sigh* http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Z...

Really? Someone is so stuck in the Past it's sad. I can think of 3 games right off the top of my head right now that star women protagonists that are not over sexualized. Mirror's Edge, Beyond Good and Evil, Assassin's Creed Liberation. And that's not even close to an actual amount of how many games with female protagonists there are.

"Lara Croft is actually a good example as many of her games deal with ancient civilizations and various other interesting trinkets of history. However, her exploits are not what you remember. What you remember is trying to move the camera while swimming just a certain way so you can look at her butt."

That's not the fault of the game industry. That's completely the actions of the gamer and you can't put that on the developers because people do that. As soon as controllable cameras in games became a reality, people have always been finding ways to do just that and more. Get over it.

"I’m actually starting to get sick and tired of not having good female characters to play. Either they’re not playable as their secondary characters or the “woman” that passes for a protagonist is either little more than a glorified blow up doll or is shielded away by her gargantuan breasts."

No you're not. What your problem is is that A) You're probably a mangina and are saying you're "sick and tired" of it so that some girl will notice and give you her approval and B) You're playing sh*tty games and limiting your experience. Any real gamer can come up with a litany of strong female protagonists that don't rely on their appearance or, and here's the part you should pay attention to, are strong and confident enough to be proud of it. Broaden your experiences and open your mind.

And the rest of your article is just more of the same B.S. confirmation bias tripe that's been spewed by every man hating feminist or misguided mangina around. It's seriously getting really old. Both genders have REAL gender issues to concern themselves with, and neither are properly or accurately represented in video games, so all this whining and b*tching from one side is a colossal waste of time when there are more important matters to discuss. Get over it, it's a fictional character that in no way represents the real world or has any real impact on your life.

We're still going on about this? I can do this too. OH MY GAWD SOLID SNAKE IS SEXUALIZING AND OBJECTIFYING MEN, NOT EVERY MAN HAS ABS LIKE THAT MEN ALL OVER THE WORLD ARE OFFENDED! Does that sound retarded? Well so does complaining about lighting's slight size increase. Maybe she's drinking milk idk but its nothing to complain about. Nobody complained when tomb Raider got smaller boobs so why complain about this.

DragonKnight3920d ago

Because smaller boobs is empowerment, bigger boobs is misogyny.

I’m Glad Atlus & SE Changed Dates To Avoid Competing With Shadow Of The Erdtree

Saad from eXputer: "I'm glad I don't have to choose between Square Enix, Atlus, and FromSoftware due to bad release windows and Shadow of the Erdtree."

H922h ago

More intelligent than guerilla games

raWfodog5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

Atlus is releasing their game one week before Erdtree, SE is releasing theirs one week after.

HZD released four days before Zelda, HFW released one week before Elden Ring.

It seems to me like they are still releasing their games too close to Erdtree.

Yuji Naka guilty of insider trading breaks silence to accuse Square Enix producer of lies

Yuji Naka was fined $1.2 million and given a suspended jail sentence for the crime.

Profchaos14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

I find his comments around how Balan turned out to be very insightful as to why the game is trash. He basically apologises for its existence

solideagle13d ago

can you please give some of us who don't know anything about this, a summary of what happened?

Chocoburger13d ago

Balan was knowingly rushed out by S-E, it had an extremely short dev cycle and was fairly low budget.
Naka was the game's director until near the end when he was fired or perhaps he quit, I forgot.

carrotcakeag13d ago

@Chocoburger Yeah they did fire and replace him which caused him to unload a bunch of rants about the company. The project only existed because of Naka in the first place, he convinced Square to give him one shot at making a platformer. They gave him an opportunity but pulled the rug out before he was done for reasons not explained.

jznrpg17d ago

Hopefully they don’t. From this it doesn’t sound like that is the case and development is just taking too long.
