GTA vs Saints Row: Lines in the sandbox…

6aming's Andy Hemphill gives his opinion on two of the biggest sandbox series available, GTA and Saints Row.

Like there is an actual contest? Both games are here to stay, millions enjoy both. You don't need to be a genius to realize GTA V will sell more and get better ratings, simply because everyone praises Rockstar like gods.

Doesn't mean it needs to be the only open world game in the world. Saints Row does a wonderful job of filling in the goofiness void that Rockstar left behind in GTA for a more serious game.

Let's be honest, Rockstar had the upper hand for such a long time, there's no competition. Saints Row came out when GTA 4 sold more than any previous GTA games. Saints Row 2 and 3 might have been a tad bit better in my opinion than 4, but that's because it was older than 2 and 3, thus giving them a chance to show that Volition knows a good formula as well. Personally, I really wish Saints Row goes back to the same script writing number 2 had and hopefully this competition with GTA 5 will do exactly just that.

GTAV is beautiful in every way. But Saints Row has a great personality. I'm getting both.

Stopped caring about SR series after 2. I'm a big GTA fan (fan since the 2D era), but SR2 has my favorite sandbox city so far. SR3/SR4 seems to destroy what I loved in the SR series. Hopefully GTA V city will be amazing!

The thing is, no one seems to understand the reason Saints Row was fun to play was the overall plot and the ridiculous aspect to it, but also including the overall emotion behind it. The death of *SPOILERS* Carlos was very sentimental and was very memorable, along with the overall dialogue that occurred in between the cast. SR3 is basically about dildo's and hitting your friends with them. It kind of died, which is why I'm looking somewhat forward to 4 and GTA 5. Hopefully, Volition will finally remember what made SAints Row better again after they witness GTA 5.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing692d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
