Playstation Allstars Battle Royale, Why You'll Love The New Additions

The most recent DLC for Playstation Allstars Battle Royale gave you access to two new characters and an additional stage. The new characters were Zues, from the God Of War series, and Isaac Clarke from the Dead Space series. The additional stage was a combination of areas from The Unfinished Swan and MediEvil games, but how did all of this feel as DLC?

Just like Smash Bros., except less fun and less nostalgic. NEXT.

christheredhead3914d ago

Harsh words, but a somewhat true statement.

The game itself really isnt all that bad by its own merit, but they really messed up in the grand scheme of things. So much hype was built up, and man, what a MASSIVE let down for me.

Smash Bros just has this charm and feel that a lot of these other type of brawl fighting games just can't seem to capture.

Perhaps it's because the Nintendo characters are just so iconic and actually blend together even when they are all in separate worlds.

PSAS just pulls in a bunch of characters that really don't mesh. Throw in a bunch of 3rd party characters that no one really cares about and you have a pretty lackluster attempt at cashing in on Smash Bros. fame.

Sony's first party characters blend together fine. And the reason for all the third party characters was probably because they couldnt acquire their hall of famers since Crash/Spyro are owned by Activision. As for Cloud and Snake to anyones guess. I like the style of smash bros with my PS characters. Just need a better developer next time around.

@Misaka how am I in denial? Because I enjoyed the game I played? Oh yea so much denial! Im not saying it was great but it wasnt a bad game and they can improve greatly upon it. Congratz moron.

OhReginald3914d ago

they seriously should of made it more like powerstone and not copy nintendo. PSABR's Majority of all the characters were from 3D games.

Misaka_x_Touma3911d ago

or create something new but we know Sony want to try a already mastered and captured formula to see if it work with no effort.

The amount of money should spent had been over 500m.

SolidDuck3914d ago (Edited 3914d ago )

While not as good as smash bros I agree. I thought it was actually really fun. And yes I think it was a huge missed opportunity to not make it more like powerstone, that would of been epic, those games were awesome.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Launched 10 Years Too Early

Though PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a bit of a cult classic, it could have been a big hit if it launched in 2022 instead of 2012.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69514d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop514d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard514d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi514d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin514d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Nyxus521d ago

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer520d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
