Insomniac Writer: I’m Leaving Insomniac… Sort of

In a suitably late night blog post, the writer announced his departure from the developer, where he has served for seven years on nine games.

Well that's sad to hear. He did an awesome job with the R&C clank series. The writing and dialogues are so funny. I hope the movie is going to deliver, but since he's working on it I keep my expectations relatively high. As for Nexus, well fingers crossed his successor will be as good as him (definitely not an easy task).

May he succeed in his new projects. Talented man !

what I hate is the 'unsung heroes'

for example no - one knew about him untill he left insomniac, 7 years and he was pretty much hidden, R&C is popular for it's funny dialogue and the likes, but no one knows about him until now, when he left :(

This is my scenario (I predicted this). The writer that has left Insomniac games is also heavly involved with the film. He is the only employee tying R&C to Insomniac. Once R&C:IttN releases Sony can then hand-over the franchise to another talented developer.

Yeah, I've no idea what's happening at their studio but the quality of their output has completely nosedived the past few years.

i cant lie im a little worried now,besides the gameplay one of the best things that made ratchet&clank so unique was the dialogue,it was a mix between cartoon humor,and seriousness,heck the same can be said for sly and jak,even the crappy all4one and full frontal assault had great dialogue,hopefully insomniac can get a new writer that can keep the momentum.

I would assume the writing for Nexus is alreay done, seeing as its out in a few months. The timing of this is strange, maybe something happened during the writing stage he didnt like

Let me say I'm kinda torn on this one. Even though this guy has done good work it could have been better. Ratchet games are always so close to being a lot funnier than they are. They always set up for a funny innuendo and they never deliver. I love the kid friendly nature of the series but I loved it more when they started getting a little grittier. I know thats not a good word for Ratchet and I'd hate to see it go Killzone or Gears, but Up Your Arsenal and Deadlocked where so damn fun I can't help but look back at them as the kind of game I wanted from a Ratchet game. I really liked the Future era but it just wasn't as witty as the the PS2 titles.

Maybe with this we're seeing the end of Ratchet, but hopefully it just means a fresh take on what Ratchet is.

It's Sony's IP. Naughty Dog or Ice Team writers can take over and deliver just like they did with Jak and Daxter or Crash Bandicoot. Sony's Unified Developers FTW.

Hopefully he can go work directly for Sony, & can write new stories for one of there inhouse developers, & they can make the next Ratchet, coming up with new ideas both story, character & gameplay wise, to freshen up the platformer genre & revolutionize it.
I really want the genre to get far more games than it currently does, & games that push the envelopes of the genre, like it used to from Mario to Donkey Kong Country, to Mario 64, Crash, Medievil, to Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, & up until A Crack In Time, I feel the genre has really not offered anything new, & that includes Mario Galaxy, as it was overrated & a dissapointment compared to Mario64.

I'm super bummed that he confirmed "Into the Nexus" is being developed at the North Carolina Insomniac studio. I don't have very high expectations for it anymore.
