FOX Engine vs CryEngine 3 - Konami's Office Room Recreated In CryEngine 3

Gonna have to disagree with you guys. The story in crysis 2&3 was average at best. But the story in the first was great! Also the gameplay in 1&3 is awesome. It's open world and you can run in and just punch everyons in the face, pick up a tree/pole and destroy them, be stealthy with cloack, or just shoot them regularly with armor. And those are just examples. A skilled player mixes the abilities to take out the enemies swiftly. It's too bad people just see the face value: oh its pretty. Personally crysis going to the city was a mistake. Too linear, even though 3 attempted to open up.

For me Crytek worry too much about the textures instead of gameplay. Like the ridiculous "60%" remark and how graphics drive gameplay. So many games prove them wrong on that front.

Gameplay is and always the hook, everything else supplements it. And now with the little guy (indies) having more opportunities than ever to
get their games out there, the scene is getting crowded, the backlog is getting bigger, so the games that are worthplaying are the ones you spend time and money on.

actually I never criticised Crysis, I had heard that many thought 2 & 3 were disappointing though. All I meant was that great graphics are pretty much the norm now but they mean nothing if the gameplay is lacking, and that goes for every game.

i dont know but i am not impressed, especially not by the textures around the corners and this is a tech that's supposed to be so photorealistic.

At the article: Office stuff is fairly easy to replicate(man made shapes....) but they have done well with the natural environment (a lot harder to do)

It is their strength and weakness. Graphics is all they care about, their games suck. FOX Engine is being used to create MGSV and any Metal Gear Solid game beats any game Crytek did when it comes to storyline and gameplay.

To me Cry Engine is too fantasy as far as its lighting looks, if we r going for realistic. Both r beautiful engines. It is simply a matter of how the games that get made with them utilize them.
I'm assuming the cry engine will get used in more franchises than the Fox engine though.

More experienced and better devs have better engines,many included including myself encountered several bug and glitches I didn't finish crysis 2 free on ps plus due to their crappy handling of games in the technical aspect,it occurs right after u defeat the pinger,u r asked to regroup and so I did but the mission didn't progress!i restarted the checkpoint a lot.crytek sucks at making the small details,blood splatter stable in the air,very low and horrible sets of enemies that is sacrificed for more but dumb a.i,blue lasers when shooting seriously?melee sucks ass 20 fps,copied a lot of stuff and added nothing new in gameplay that we've never seem b4 especially since it's an fps which made it a snore fest would prefer cod vita,haze,battle la,doom,good ol counter strike and nearly every fps over their current games.they're that generic

I've come to the realization that as long as it's pretty (doesn't need hella realistic textures) and plays smooth as eggs, I'm good. I used to be a graphics whore, but kept getting disappointed with boring gameplay. After playing games Last of Us and Rayman Origins, I believe the PS3 could be relevant for another 5 years.... Not that I'm going to wait that long lol

Only one problem, crysis runs terrible.. the first one took 2-3 years to be playable when a graphics card came out capable of running it 60+fps.

On release you're lucky to get like 30-40fps average frame rate which really sucks if you check out performance graphs.It's like they don't even optimise the games well.

That's why i never bother with those games, plus it's all flashy graphics over game play.

Crytek is better at Game Engine making than game making.
