World of Tanks has become a stunning success, with over 60 million players registered worldwide. Wargaming has grown, too, and now has 1,600 employees, with 15 offices around the world (recently opening a Tokyo office). The company's World of Warplanes has just entered open beta, and World of Warships is on the way as well. The Xbox 360, and potentially other consoles, represents new territory for Wargaming to conquer. The [a]list daily caught up with Victor Kislyi to ask him about this surprising announcement.
From Babel UA: "With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, sanctions against the aggressor also affected the video game industry. The largest game publishers — Ubisoft, EA Games, Rockstar — have limited sales of their products in Russia and Belarus. And Steam, GOG and Epic Games stores have stopped accepting payments in rubles. But Russian players have already learned to circumvent the bans of publishers and shops — there are many instructions about how to do this on the Internet. The situation with the game developers of the aggressor countries is even more complicated. Many of them are not officially Russian or Belarusian, but have long opened offices in Europe and work from Britain, Hungary, and other countries. Russian developers usually donʼt comment on Russiaʼs aggression against Ukraine, continue to cooperate with Western companies and sell their games to Western players. Babel tells about the games Escape from Tarkov, World of Tanks, and War Thunder, which are popular in Europe and the United States, and about the behavior of their developers, who deliberately do not publicly state their position on the war or order advertising from outspoken supporters of the Putin regime."
This is an interesting update to the game. World of Tanks is more than just pure steel and firepower; it’s about tactics and strategy, and the latest event takes this up a gear! Players can master the Art of Strategy from today until early May.
WAR IS FOREVER! World of Tanks welcomes G.I. Joe & Cobra onto the battlefield. FIGHT TO SAVE THE DAY!
I watched a stream of this, it appears there is no bullet drop on the tanks? I will try it on my 360 never the less, just seems odd.
I tried it on the PC a long time ago, played it once and never went back, it's too slow and if you get killed early in a match you sit there for an hour waiting othe match to end!
Clearly a lot of people love it, I personally don't, and I don't think it will find much of an audience on consoles.
I never understand the appeal of this game, I hope it doesn't seem like I'm bashing it or anything if you like that's cool. I watched a few streams of it, constantly seeing the commercial on tv it doesn't seem like I could get into it. I do want to try it because I'm curious if anyone here is a World of Tanks nut please tell me a few things about it why you enjoy it :)
I play it and like the game for what it is, It is surprisingly deep taking into account penetration values of guns, armour angling, camo rating etc
You also need to know what your tank can and cannot do and the same also goes for the enemies tank.
Basically It is not a pick up and play game and requires you do to some homework on your tank. It is not the most inviting or forgiving game and the grind is long but if you have patience and appreciate tactical knowledge based gameplay then this is right up your alley.
If you want something casual to jump onto, this is not for you.
On a side note I can't wait for warthunder to release its tank combat for some competition between the two as War Thunder already trounces world of warplanes so it is going to be very interesting.
