Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

BattleAxe3939d ago (Edited 3939d ago )

I agree with both of you although I also loved Call of Duty: World at War also. Black Ops is where the series went downhill in my opinion.

Gazondaily3939d ago

Agreed with both of you.

MW2 for me was brilliant. We sunk in so many hours into that game. The tactical nuke was pure genius. I know a lot of people hated it but amongst our friends, we all strived to get that in almost every match. The tension you get when you're just one kill away from getting one is crazy! Your heart starts beating faster and you start sweating at times! I got about 148 nukes in the end I think.

Go back now and it is surprisingly smooth even compared to the latest cod games. After MW2, the whole series came crashing down in terms of quality. Black Ops and MW3 were woeful.

There were a lot of stupid things in MW2 though: akimbo shotguns, painkiller deathstreak was just plain retarded and you may as well out the controller down when this was coupled with a bad spawn, one man army noob tubing (guilty of using this) among some other things.

After putting tons of days into MW and MW2, I can easily say they had some of the best maps ever made. Derail HQ was the best.

Sadly, once the original team left, MW2 was left to die, a simple patch would've made it as good as the first MW.

Hit detection is getting worst with each new title. If they don't support Designated servers, then no one with a good Internet net connection speed will play this game. MW4 was an absolute joke if you had 25mb to 50mb connection speeds. Was so bad when I lag my self down to 10mb.
So mw.

God finally someone understands! HEY MAN! You ever play the rifles only servers?

thrasherv33939d ago

Question should be did I ever not play rifle only servers.

Thehyph3939d ago

Not a fan of the series but definitly 1 and 4.
The original Call of Duty came out at a time when the market had seen MANY WW2 games, especially shooters. It still managed to differentiate itself and shine above the rest.
Call of Duty: 4 more or less did the same thing but with modern military instead of WW2

CalvinKlein3939d ago

yeah im pretty sure that The guys who created IW(I think they are making robot COD now) worked on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault on PC before they made COD1 and those are the best two WW2 games Ive ever played.

Thehyph3939d ago

I didn't know that. MOHAA was a great game, but it didn't have that level of polish the first CoD brought to the table.

Maybe they were good because they both, more or less, copped their stories from somewhere else. Saving Private Ryan, Enemy At The Gates, Band of Brothers
Maybe more time getting all the gameplay touches right.

Call of duty 4 Modern Warfare, favorite maps: crash and shipment

oof463939d ago

You had me at crash and then lost me at shipment. You could close your eyes, chuck a grenade and 9 times out of 10, you'd get a kill.

cell9893938d ago

that was the thrill, and doing knifes only really made it fun, I forgot to mention crossfire

Why MW 2019 is still the best looking Call of Duty to date

MW 2019 is five years old at this point and on previous gen hardware, but it is still the best looking Call of Duty game to date.

MW was an excellent videogame. They messed up Spec Ops big time, but aside from this it was a huge step in the right direction initially. Most notably, at launch it seemed to come from a very cohesive creative vision that was felt across gameplay, to story to art style/visual direction. It was also very notably written by prominent ex-Naughty Dog guys that quit almost immediately before release.

That COMPLETELY dissolved through post-launch content and the full pivot to a "cross-mode" narrative that completely obliterated the cohesion in overall story direction. Warzone then "became" the new face of Call of Duty and the franchise completely removed itself from anything remotely creatively "good". It is a pure money machine, so I kinda get why they're doing it....but I personally completely lost interest.

I would love to see Infinity Ward move off CoD and get to make their own product with full control. They clearly have some massive talent in their ranks but it's perverted by Activision's corporate interests.

I really hope we get other activision games on GP soon. My dream would be Scarface but I know the license probably expired

P_Bomb281d ago

Love me some Scarface! I even bought the comics. Yeah, licensing would probably be an impasse.

4Sh0w281d ago

hmmm, coincidence? Either way this is a good sign for gamers after the ABK deal.

porkChop281d ago

I played through Scarface again last year and it still holds up. Such a fun game. I would love for Xbox to get the rights back to remaster Scarface and make a sequel. It sold well and they had plans for Scarface 2, 3, and 4. With how long it takes Rockstar to make games the market is wide open.

TheColbertinator281d ago

That game was so much fun. Expected a cheap GTA clone but it was a good drug empire building game.

shinoff2183281d ago

They didn't just have plans but there's actual gameplay out there for scarface 2

neutralgamer1992281d ago

Seriously man we need games like

True crime
Sleeping dogs
Watch dogs( more like original not legion)
And proper saints row

GTA can’t be the only option we need other games

P_Bomb281d ago

@neutral
Gun was Activision as well. Nice open world Wild West there imo.

neutralgamer1992279d ago

Gun is such a underrated game

None of those games had dedicated servers on console in the first place? Were always player hosted. Did something change?

Rutaprkl281d ago

Older cods like Mw, Mw2 and WaW were way better than Call of Dutys nowadays

GoodGuy09280d ago

Make activision remaster mw2 (2009) multiplayer please xbox.
