Accused murderer Aaron Hernandez removed from NCAA 14 and Madden 25

Joystiq- Aaron Hernandez, the New England Patriots tight end charged with murder on June 26, has been removed from Madden 25 and NCAA 14. Players that happen to unlock Hernandez's Ultimate Team card in NCAA 14 by getting a gold medal in the game's Shovel Option drill in the Skills Trainer mode will see the card turn into that of current Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith. A future title update will remove Hernandez from the game entirely.

Nah,personally I think its better to remove him now than later,especially since videogames are in a darker light than theyve ever been in,if he is convicted just think of all the news articles saying videogames glorify convicted murderer,therefore videogames are evil.

I like the idea to wait and remove him after he's been convicted, but the Patriots have already released him and considering the evidence that's come out about the case, it doesn't look like he'll be on any NFL 2013 roster anyways-- so they might as well remove him now to distance themselves from him.

the guys on tape with the gun talking about how he cant trust the victim anymore right before the shooting. The bullet casings were found in the idiots rental car and the victim texted his parents to let them know he was with hernandez. Plus the destruction of evidence. I get what you are saying and that he could be innocent but I agree with Robert Kraft (owner of the patriots), as I think the nfl does, that even if he didn't do it, he was involved way to closely with the case that they want nothing to do with him.

Well, the NFL DOES have a "Code Of Conduct" clause that pretty much allows them to do things like this. Sure, they rarely use it...but it's there. As for removing him from Madden, he's not playing next year anyway.

to all those asking wait till he is found guilty clearly have not been following the case. Theres so much evidence that its almost 100% gonna happen.

If that is not enough the PATS already dropped him from the team. He is no longer part of the NFL anyway so why would he be part of an NFL game?

They even had a trade-in program last week for his jersey. He is tarnished for life, even if he does get out in 30-40 yrs he'll never get a decent job anywhere...except maybe burger king.

I guess it depends on the magnitude of the infraction seeing as how there have been 28 nfl arrests this year and no plans of taking those guys out of games...since i don't buy madden games i wonder if they took out Michael Vick from previous games for being CONVICTED and serving time....hmmm.

I don't recall seeing Vick that year he was locked up in Madden. I could be wrong, its been awhile, and I don't buy Madden every year, more like every two years.

even ingoring the legal implications, he shouldnt be in a game.

he isnt on a team. therefore he shouldnt be on a roster anyway. and even if by some miracle he gets signed, hell likely be suspended by King Gooddell for quite a while.

that is what "THEY" say but it's actually "guilty until proven innocent" cause they will lock you up until your trial. nobody wanted hernandez to begin with cause of his shady college antics and the patriots figured they could turn him around, in essence "put a leash on him" but if he's found guilty for the other 2 murder cases then the only game hernandez will play for the rest of his life is "don't drop the soap"...in prison.
