Liam Pritchard of Brash Games writes "While I do appreciate that gamers want their money’s worth from a videogame purchase, I for one despise games that are extended just for the sake of having a few extra hours worth of gameplay. I have nothing against long games (I count JRPGs amongst my most beloved of genres), but with so many fantastic games just waiting to be played, I simply cannot abide a videogame that prioritises length over enjoyment – easy sailor".
How do composers make the iconic music tracks from games that we love? And just what makes them so memorable?
While FFVII ranks highly, there's more to the series than one game. Here's Chit Hot's picks for the seven best Final Fantasy characters.
A former 343 developer has revealed that mountains of Halo pitches failed to be approved, including a return to ODSTs and a push for more intimate, dark themes.
Halo-Pop like Gears Pop. Halo bowling. Halo Cooking Mama. There’s a reason why you won’t hear about them
I just replayed Resident Evil 4 on XBLA and I was surprised by how long that game was.
Generally speaking it's all about optional content. The Final Fantasy series being a perfect example, there were always side quests and distractions for those interested but they were never mandatory to complete the game. I spent countless hours playing Blitzball, Triple Triad, Monster Arena, etc. Those were really done right. There were also games where I didn't care for the side distractions so I ignored them. I'm playing Xenoblade right now and it's an incredible game, my only complaint is the sheer number of repetitive side quests that serve no purpose other than to add hours. Are they optional? Yes, but my OCD makes me feel compelled to finish them all, and I get to the point where I pass in a quest just hoping.....praying that the quest exclamation mark doesn't pop over the NPC's head again.
I dont have as much time to play videogames now that Im graduated, been maybe 2 years now. S I just hate games that are simply too long for nothing.
......... I hate it when movies are longer than they have to be.
My wife and have a saying for movies that do this..."they are going A.I.".
A.I. was a Steven Spielberg movie from some years back that just went on, and on, and on, and on, and on to some weird territory with Aliens. Where in the hell did the aliens come from, we still haven't figured it out. The movie had *estimates* an hour of footage that wasn't needed and took away from the emotional aspect IOHO.
