Bungie Releases Destiny's First track "Awakening"

Music is a big part of games and of course Bungie's new game, Destiny, is no exception. The first track for the game, named Awakening has been released to the public.

It's quite different than from what I'm used to from Halo music, but it's still pretty neat.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI3944d ago

It sounds like a mix of something I'd expect in Alice In Wonderland and Phantasy Star Online lol

CalamityCB3944d ago

Awakening was also the first Halo 4 track that was released fully before the game was released.

Blacklash933944d ago (Edited 3944d ago )

I was just about to say that. Pretty funny, isn't it?

NeoRatt3944d ago

I continue to be unimpressed by Destiny. I thought Bungie was going a completely new direction when they separated from MS. Turns out, all they have done is put Halo into a dynamic environment with more weapons choices...

Every time I have seen Destiny, its mechanics remind me of Halo. Not, a bad thing, but, hardly a reason for them to totally separate from MS.

I predict Destiny sells better on PS4 than X1 simply because PS has not had a Halo experience.

xhi43943d ago

I disagree.

You talk like they need to have mechanics that are completely different to Halo?

Halo is one of the most loved games of all time and that is just plain damn fun to play. Taking those mechanics and putting it into a huge living, breathing 10 year MMO universe the way they have in my eyes is pure awesome.

It looks like SO much fun, I want to be the magic warrior guy and play with friends.

I think it's a great thing.

NeoRatt3943d ago

I said it wasn't a bad thing. I was just expecting something totally new and completely different. When, Bungie left MS I thought it was because they were creatively constrained.

Destiny is not a creative leap over Halo. Destiny is another Halo in a dynamic environment and a large suite of weaponry.

I just expected more from Bungie. Do I know what I expected? No. I just thought it would be more...

blackmanone3943d ago

Agreed. I never got the appeal of Halo (I know, I know, no need for the hate), and I certainly don't get this one. I'm all for epic sci fi, my favorite genre, but the mechanics are all-halo, loose, fast, and not realistic at all.

spicelicka3943d ago

well sucks for you then. I love the mechanics, wayy better, more fun, and more tactical than iron sight controls.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter330d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell329d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig330d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast330d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g329d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka329d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai480d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface479d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard477d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
